Motorola Droid XYBOARD 10.1 :: Sending Device Back To Be Fixed - Won't Turn On
May 16, 2012
I waited to purchase a tablet for 2 years, waiting for what I felt would be the perfect tablet. I researched for those 2 years and finally the XY Board came out! I was thrilled. I told my husband and he purchased it for me [10.1] 32gb for Christmas- through Verizon. I was a little upset that ICS was not on it yet but "it was coming soon". It took me a little time to figure out how to set it up exactly how I liked it but it was worth it. Then I started to notice a few issues: It was very difficult to turn on and off - that button in the back is a pain - but it is what it is It "froze" at first just once in a while but as time went on almost 3-6 times a week. It had a hard time staying connected to my INTERNET connection, now considering I have other computers, TV's that use the same Comcast INTERNET I assume my router and wifi are OK since they do not have issues. I could never get the MOTOPRINT to work, one of the reasons I wanted this tablet, so I just purchased a new printer that should work better with it, we'll see. But right now I cannot because I was having some problems charging. Sometimes I would get a message saying that I needed to use the cord that came with the tablet or it would charge slower [only plug I had was the one that came with it so I had no idea what it was talking about]. Finally it stopped charging so now I cannot turn it on at all
So I went to Verizon and I was told they would send a board for me to use to and I was to use that box to send back my tablet,it would be about 5 business days till I got the box. It was a holiday and I figured it would be longer. To shorten this part-I was given wrong info. they do not give replacement tablets when they are fixing them so I am out my tablet while it is being fixed, What I'm worried about is the fact that that I have pictures on that tablet that I have not moved over, Apps that I have not backed up, music I downloaded from other than Google and Amazon, which I purchased - So there is a good chance I will lose everything. I am not a happy camper. I looked up every problem and did all the fixes as they were available - but I can't fix this.
My fleet of fifteen client Xyboard tablets on Verizon received their OTA push of the Android 4.0.4 operating system this morning. I was pretty stoked until one of our primary software components wouldn't function. After quite a bit of work, we discovered that the Verizon/Motorola system update had changed all of the Xyboard's IMEI Device ID numbers by appending an additional digit to them. This changed the previous 14 character device ID numbers to fifteen character device ID numbers. The result was that any software that had license binding to the device ID no longer functioned. This was true for our Sygic navigation and routing software. We had to completely relicense this software component on 15 tablets.First, I wanted to warn other Xyboard users of this potential problem. Second, I wonder if anyone can provide any idea of why this happened. Many companies, like ours, enter these IMEI Device ID numbers into our capital asset inventory log system because, supposedly, they never change and could be used by the police if one was ever stolen. What could possibly be the reason for changing them in a system update?? Now, not only did it break some of our most important software, angering our clients and causing us enormous headaches, but it also makes our entire capital asset inventory incorrect.
As I'm sure everyone knows, the xyboard automatically powers on when in the dock. Is there any way to keep it docked (and charging) with the power off? I only ask this because I would like to keep it off at times while charging so it does not sync emails, etc. I know I could turn off the sync while charging but that would really be a pain in the butt to have to keep doing that. Especially with 5 email accounts and 2 weather apps.
is there any way to connect the XYBoard to an older HD TV (2005) that does not have HDMI port? I have a HD Samsung TV from around 2005 in my bedroom and would love to watch movies from my XYBoard on it. It has an S video input port but no HDMI.
They have one for the smaller Xyboard.I am using the Incipio one and am pretty happy with it. Just thought I could pass this along since the accessories for the Xyboard/Xoom 2 are still few.
Currently I use Evernote with my swype because I don't like the way it recognizes my handwriting. What I am looking for is an app that I can use my stylus to free hand write with as if I had a pen and a piece of paper and than would convert to text if I so choose to or I can keep it in raw format on my tablet.
Can anyone provide details or know anything about the tasks app (as in "to do list") that comes with the XYBoard 8.2? In playing around, I actually thinks a really well done app. Simple and clean. I have one screen on my XYBoard with just that widget and have been asking tasks, checking this off, and getting things done. my life is more than just the tablet. I'd like to be able to access to the list from the web and my Bionic. I know there are plenty of task/to do apps out there. I just can't seem to find out what this specific one is and wanted to know if someone could clue me in.Is it native as of Honeycomb 3.2? Was if provided by Moto or Verizon? Or is this one of their hand-picked apps for productivity that came preinstalled.
All of my apps that are loaded on my xyboard and razr are checked to automatically update but yet certain apps continuously tell me that an update is available and I have to do it manually. Even though the box is checked to allow automatic updates. This happens on both devices for the same apps. Gets very annoying.
I got a notification for update to Android 4.0.4 for MotorolaXYBoard WiFi in the US.
I tried three time and the installation failed. Unit is well connected to his docking station and strong wifi signal. Download was OK.
After the ANDROID icom appear and install started, I got a yellow triangle and after then a message that the install failed. The fact that I'm not in the USA righ now, could be a problem for the dowload ? I tried 3 times.
How do I transfer files to my XYBOARD from my computer? When I plug it in, I can instlal Motocast and something to sync media, but I can't actually transfer any other files but media.
How do you delete videos and pictures from the tablet? The only delete icon I see is on the home screens when you want to remove a widget. But going to the videos and pictures themselves, I don't see any place where I'm given an option to delete. I tried holding down on the videos and icons and they don't do anything.
Periodically the screen will lock up on my Xyboard. It is not a system crash/lock. This is where the screen stops reacting to touch. Usually putting it in sleep mode with the power button and then waking it clears the problem. Other times it requires a hard reset -- hold power and volume down.
I've had this issue twice on my RAZR since I got it in December. I've had it happen at least 5 times on my Xyboard since I got it Feb 1st.
I just bought the Xyboard from Verizon and I am missing the app Movie Studio. I am upgraded to Andrpod 3.2, and I can't find the app in the App drawer or under My Apps. Where can I get it?
So I turned off Auto-Brightness. and set my xyboard's brightness to about 30% but many times when I turn it on from sleeping it defaults to the maximum brightness. I press the power button once to turn off the screen, then press it again to turn it back on and it goes back down to 30% as I had it set. Happens many times throughout the day.
I bought my Xyboard 10.1 on 3/16/12. On 3/24/12 I attempted to sign in to MotoCast. I successfully set up my account on my laptop and chose the folders I wanted to sync. I then opened the MotoCast app on my tablet, entered my email address and password and received the following error notification: Unable to connect at this time, try again later.
Just bought a Droid Xyboard 10.1. It's beautiful with a fast processor, but it lacks an application that'll enable you to kill the application or pages that you've recently opened. Is there any other application that'll add an option by the page or application to delete it?http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/droid-xyboard-10-1-review/That's what keeps popping up when I search for any other applications. I believe it would be a lot more efficient if the Droid Xyboard had the same layout as the Asus Transformer Prime regarding the "X" on the side of the applications that I've opened/viewed.Does anyone know of any amazing application that describes what I'm talking about
After reviewing the T&Cs, the 'Done' button on that screen remains inactive. Is there a way to clear the associated Moto logo in the Notifications Bar area?
read closely, looks like thay are working on yet another build of gingerbread for us....could it be true, i guess we will not get confirmation..but its nice to see it from a VZW emp... those who pray, do it, those that dont, chant or something that we get a fix to the fix to the fix....oh, and that its the current GB version 2.3.5, fixed camera, audio codecs, shutdown (maybe) issues, 00:00, and so on and so forth, sprinkled with a heaping tub of unlocked bootloader stuff... remember this comment and promise
I was watching a few movies on Netflix, and randomly the movie would just pause. If I tapped the screen, it would indicate the movie was paused, and if I tap "play" it would start right up again...
I've had xyboard 10.1 since Christmas and I absolutely love it but I am starting to get a lot of random reboots, at first it was just when I was doing a lot of tasks all at once but now even mundane tasks like just running the browser will cause it to freeze for a minute then just randomly reboot?
i have a xyboard and want to connect my wd passport hard drive to it, but it states it needs to reformat. Any one know if there is a driver for external hard drives to support the xyboard?
I have my Droid Xyboard set so that the if the screen turns off and its not plugged into the power adapter, the wifi will disconnect. (Under Wifi Settings > Wi-Fi disconnect Policy > select "Never when plugged in"). The wifi is supposed to connect automatically when I turn the screen on (I assume), but that doesn't always happen, many times it just sits there searching for a connection, and I have to manually turn off the wifi radio, then turn it on again, and then it connects automatically.
I have my IP settings set to "static" - which has improved the problem I think, but has not completely solved it. My security setting on my router is (WPA/WPA2 PSK) - but this happens with other wifi networks as well. My Mobile network connection is always turned off, unless I come to use it, I manually turn on the 3G/4G LTE radio.
When I hit the power button on the phone to make it sleep, there seems to be a very small chance that the screen will shut off, then immediately(within a second) turn back on.It could be placebo but I think having music playing makes it happen more often.
