I am new and know nothing really about phones. Got the droidx2 and love it except when i got to see the files in my "files" folder it automatically closes after about ten seconds. it doesn't matter if i am tryting to view files pics/videos i have saved on the SD card or pics/videos i have in the internal memory.
i have seen this problem posted all over the web but no one has been able to help me.
i have two droidx2 and they both have this problem. have done factory resets and no i am not rooting this phone
I am running completly stock DX2, 2.3.4 version. regular wallpaper not live, 90mb of free ram when problem is happening,1.6gb free atorage in application storage, 4.06gb internal storage availible , 14.28gb availible on my sd card(16gb), 53 apps installed, version 3.1.5 of the app market.
The problem I started having a few days ago is my dx2 is very slow after using an app for more than 10 min and then backing out or closing the app it shows my home page all blank except for the black square app draw button and the wallpapper. Then in about 4-5 sec the entire home page shows as normal. This has never happened before the last few days. Have had the dx2 for 2 months now.
I have not installed anytihng new the last few days. I use the stock task manager since day one to kill all downloaded apps I dont need running. I was part of the soak test and this is the first real problem I have had. I did not do a factory reset before or after the new gb update. I was thinking of doing one now but it seems to never work no matter what problems I have had in the past with my DX I had previous.
So I started to notice this in my picture gallery. When I open it to look at a photo and then close the app, re-opening the app brings me right back to the last photo I was looking at. On my Razr M if you closed the gallery and open it again you are back on the folders screen. Now with the turbo I have to hit back a few times to get where I want to be. The same goes with my emails and text messages. If I text someone and close, instead of getting the whole list when I re-open messaging it starts off on the last person I was talking to.
Today I tried to look for something in my Gallery - it keeps force closing. I tried powering the phone off and on and also did a battery pull, it still does not work. I can get into the folder where I have taken pictures via the camera, but can't access anything else.
Starting Sunday evening Tweetdeck kept force-closing on me before I could make a post. I was still able to use Twitter's official mobile app & Facebook's official mobile app. By 5pm last night (Monday/Halloween) NONE of the social network apps were working. This included Tweetdeck, Twitter official, Facebook official, Hoot Suite, Google+, AND even when I accessed Twitter's normal site via browser. I've turned the phone on & off several times and that hasn't done anything.
My search app (the one you get to by pressing the search button while on the home screen) would often freeze for 5-15 seconds after I had typed a few letters. This is fixed by disabling apps as something it searches for. Open the search app, press the menu button, select search settings, then searchable items, and uncheck the box next to Apps. Whatever causes apps to take forever to load when looking in the Apps section of the phone's settings also causes them to take an unreasonable time to load in Google's search app.
Just checking if the camera delay issue with the original Droid has been fixed? Do the newer models work better- like Droid 3? I can only take a picture of a static (not moving) object with my Droid as it takes about 3 secs from pressing the screen button to actually taking the picture. If not, any way to minimize the effect? Is it much better (faster) with the new phones- like the Droid 3? I have played around with other phones that allowed fast and smooth pictures.
Every since I upgraded my Droid RAZR MAXX to ICS I've been having a problem playing music that is saved on my 32-Gig SD card. Prior to the upgrade I didn't have the problem. 8 out of 10 songs will skip for 2 seconds after playing for 10 seconds. The 10 seconds is consistent, but as I said 8 out of 10 songs will skip.
When the skipping occurs the device is totally unresponsive; screen and buttons (including power). After the skipping the song will play without any problems. It doesn't appear to be song specific as I've had the same song skip and then not skip. I'm using Verizon's My Music, but the same thing happens with Play Music and PowerAmp. I even fiddled with PowerAmp settings to have a large buffer and increased the priority without any change in the skipping.
Does anyone else have major 3G problems with this phone? Sometimes it will stay on 1X in a known 3G area, other times it will drop totally and then come back after a few seconds. I have had an Original Droid and a Droid X that had no such problems in my area. I need to know if this is defective behavior or if it is a software problem that can be fixed and Motorola is aware of.
Tried the camera mod in themes and apps but it did not work even though I'm running the same PDA and everything.Might be because I'm on a stock odexed ROM.Anyway.. I've deleted my folder /system/app/SamsungCamera4/arm64 while installing the mod and the camera now keeps force closing after I restored the original files (except the files in the arm64 folder).
When I plug my phone into my computer it says the device is not recognize. I have installed the motohelper and that did not resolve the issue. All verizon can do is send me out a refurbished phone.
My corporate voicemails are emailed as .wav file attachments. These .wav files played perfectly on my old droid x and play perfectly on my xoom. why they won't they play on my bionic? I used the stock music app on my droid x, double twist also worked. Double twist works great on my xoom tablet. Music nor double twist nor winamp work on my bionic.
Double Twist Error:
"Sorry the player does not support this type of audio file."
No Error with Music or Winamp, the file just does not play.
I have the Droid 2 Global (upgraded from droid 1 to2 and now to global) How can I add ringtones to the Droid? I did it before using Astro File Manager but Ill be darned if I can figure it out again! doh! Happy to do it any way possible.
DROIDX updated this morning. Now I can't delete files from my SD card. Is there anyway to change the notification bar to a different color. It seems like nothing works since the update.
Is motocast a option? I see it will allow access to your PC files from your phone....but i want a true transfer from phone to PC not access from PC to phone.
Been waiting for the encrypted filesystem support so that the Pro would meet requirements for corporate email since I got my Pro in Dec. Upgraded to 3.8.7 when it came out, and turned on device and SD encryption. (OK, the oddities came out a questions. But these are more rhetorical - not really needing an answer)Why per-file encryption and not device encryption? Why leave old files or those copied from PC unencrypted, and only encrypt new files created on the phone?Given the mix of encrypted and unencrypted files, why no method for seeing their state or converting to/from encryption? Why encrypt files but retain the original filename, so you can't tell by looking at a file in the filesystem whether it has been encrypted or not?Seems like a pretty marginal half-a$%ed encryption implementation. How do I access a decrypted copy of the files from the PC USB interface? USB Mass Storage mode mounts the sd card with a drive letter, and lets me see the files, but in their encrypted form. It basically mounts the SD card as a 'dumb' usb drive. (If you view a '.txt' file, you see the encrypted binary)
USB PC Mode makes the droid look like a music player to the PC - you see a 'droid' device which has media syncing and such. I believe that this show the unencrypted view of the files, since it is being interpreted and exported through the OS (wow, that was a horrible explanation). BUT, PC Mode only appears to show certain media file types (mp3, jpeg, etc) and their associated directories, so most of the directories and files are totally inaccessible. (even renaming junk.xls to junk.jpeg and putting it in the 'downloads' directory does not seem to work).Dropbox, or email, or some other indirect solution is not acceptable, since the whole idea of encryption is to keep my unencrypted files out of the porous cloud. Plus, it would be annoying and awkward.
Does the Droid use a standard encryption algorithm like AES/256, and can we get/find/see the encryption key on the phone, such that I could use USB Mass Storage mode and a PC-side decrypter with that key to see the file?Alternatively, is there a way to make USB PC Mode show other files types and directories? Hypothesize it could be a rooted phone and I am totally comfortable poking around the linux underpinnings of the phone.
How do I transfer files to my XYBOARD from my computer? When I plug it in, I can instlal Motocast and something to sync media, but I can't actually transfer any other files but media.
I have Tape-a-Talk files on my Droid Turbo. Some are small. Two are large (120MB +). Those two are not showing up on the Windows Explorer window though all the other tape-a-talk files are showing up.
Is there a way to wirelessly transfer files from your computer to your phone? I use AIM yo transfer files form my laptop to my desktop, is there anyway to do that from computer to phone and vice versa?
Granted I am using Good Technologie's email client for work, but i get wav file attachments for all VM's left for me @ work via email.
I used to be able to just play them on the D2 with Froyo, but it looks like the GB version of the stock player for D3 doesn't play wav files...is this right??
I am using Gingerbread's encryption feature. I took a bunch of photos on vacation, went to transfer them to my computer via USB cable, and was dismayed to find they came across as "unknown files". They had the correct name and jpg extension, but I couldn't view the photos. This is only true of photos I have taken since encrypting the device. tried disabling the encryption feature, and doing it again, with the same result. What am I doing wrong? How can I view my own files, while still using encryption? Also, where is the encryption feature documentation located?
ZumoCast is setup on both my Win7 PC and my Bionic. I can see most of my many files with the Bionic however when I try to view the files in the player the screen just goes black, like it's trying to play the files but nothing ever happens. Then when I press the back button, I get this msg "Error During video Playback" ZumoCast was not able to playback this file; it might not be in a supported format.
