I often park my Droid X in it Motorola Car Dock when I am on a long drive (2 hours) and usually turn on maps, gps, and bluetooth. Battery indicator top right shows lighting bolt thru battery in upper right of home page every time I look and looking at the cigarette lighter end of the cord, I see the red light on. Starting the trip, I verify I am 100% charge but at the end of the trip, I am not fully charged. why am I dot fully charged if on car battery the full time? If I assume my cable is ok and it is really connected full time to the car source, is it possible the usage current can be more than the charge current thus resulting in a never fully charged phone at the end of the trip? Or is this simply an indicator of a bad or intermittent cable?
so It seems my car dock isn't charging my phone. It was 90% when I left the house remained plugged in on the dock for an hour except for one phone call. I used Navigation for maybe 10 min and it was still at 90% when I got to work. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. still have to test to see if its the charging port in the car that i'm using or not. It might be but the only other one I have in the car I can't use and connect to the car dock because it's too far away
When I plug the phone into the USB port on my PC it charges. When I plug the Multimedia dock into the PC and dock my phone it does not.I moved from the Droid1 to the Droid4 and have a dock from my Droid1 that works as it should. The new Multimedia dock for my Droid 4 will not charge the phone while docked unless I plug it into the dedicated charging plug. Doing this, I lose the ability to transfer data back and forth via USB.
I recently got the Motorola Car Dock for my x2 and am having a problem where the phone claims to be continuing to charge after I've removed it from the dock. More recently the Car Dock app will exit after starting. On that issue I've checked and it is not on the auto end list and will remain on when it connects to the car's bluetooth system.
I just upgraded to the Droid 3 a few days ago and I am so far pretty happy the only issue that I am having is that my car dock screen only pops up if the vehicle mount is connect to a charger and it is plugged into to the power. If I unplug it the regular home screen pops up. I am using a Motorola Droid 3 vehicle mount and a vehicle charger that came with my Droid to media package. It also happens with my daughter's Droid 3, so I don't know if the phones have an issue or the vehicle mount has an issue.
My car dock charger stopped charging my RAZR but works on my wife's HTC but my older Moto vehicle charger still works. It also seems as if it takes a very long time to chage the battery even on my original RAZR home charger.
I got the battery dock on launch day.this morning I realized the battery issues I've been having are due to the dock not fully charging any of the batteries I have put into it! The dock charges them to 90% most of the time--even if they are in the charger for over 9 hours. I just discovered this problem this morning after removing an extended battery after 9 hours of charge, to find it only at 90%. I had the same issue the first day I bought the extended battery and had to complete the charge inside the phone. I also had been having trouble getting the standard batteries fully charged.
I'm going to exchange it at Verizon this morning, but I'm wondering if a new one will be any better.I use a Battery Indicator widget which shows the voltage--that helps me determine precisely how much charge is in each battery. The battery dock barely gets the batteries charged up to 4.1 volts, and sometimes less.they should be charged more than that, along with showing "100%" on the phone's status, of course.
I'm on my second Motorola Standard Dock for the Droid. In each case the dock worked fine for a short time, then phone suddenly stopped going into "dock mode" when inserted. The connection is OK: Still charges the phone. Just no dock mode features, which is why I bought the dock in the first place. Tried every combination of seating while turned on/off, seating then turning on/off, powering and de-powering dock, etc. No dice. Phone docks fine and enters car dock mode with car cradle. Using provided charger(s) with dock(s). Have not tried full reset of phone due to hassle of reinstalling apps, etc., but powered up, removed battery, etc. Am I really so unlucky as to get two defective docks or is there a software issue here?
When I dock my Atrix 4G (stock with 2.3.4 OTA update) with my new lapdock, I get the bouncing red logo on the lapdock and only two choices on the phone...Entertainment center and dismiss. I am able to play music, view pictures, etc on the lapdock screen if I select the Entertainment center option, but the keyboard on the lapdock does nothing. I have to use the controls on the phone to control it. And it appears that I can enable/disable the touchpad by double tapping the upper left corner.
I just purchased the Standard Dock and I must say, it is a very nice and works well charging my phone while watching movies and stuff. I was wondering, can use its cord to charge my phone? From what I understand, the dock is a rapid charger, but won't over charge the Atrix.
When I tried to connect to magnetic charging dock the Led and the charging symbol starts blinking continuously without getting charged, while it used to be perfect previously, and usb charging is perfectly fine , i even tried with multiple chargers.
I just updated last week to Gingerbread but this was happening before that. I plug my phone into my factory charger and when I go to unplug it it says it is still charging. Dosent go away until I reboot the phone, any ideas? When it is fully charged the green led even stays lit. Dosent do it all the time just enough to be annoying. I really dont want to trade my phone for a reconditioned one since it is only three weeks old.
I noticed that the phone knew that it is placed in a dock (vs a charger) and it also knows what type of dock it is (Car, HD, etc.)How does it work, is it custom USB wiring? a magnet?
I've been wakened several times a night by notification tones randomly going off for no reason while phone is docked. Seems a lot of folks are having the same experiences. I expect to hear the initial phone docking notification and the battery full notification is turned off so that aint it. I'd turn off notifications but that's a pathetic fix.
I noticed after using the phone in the car dock, battery strats draining nearly twice as fast compared to before docking it and it is sinsibly warmer just sitting in standby with screen off. It goes back to normal battery use if I reboot the phone.
I'm not a fan of the car dock app. I can only add one app to the shortcuts and I can't replace the existing ones. There's also a big back icon taking up space in the map app that I can't disable. Plus, I'd rather just use the default Google Navigation app instead. It has a better "follow me" feature when not navigating. Well, at least I like the first person perspective option versus the aerial point of view.
So, is it possible to replace the car app with a 3rd party app? I'd like it to launch instead of the Motorola one when the phone is docked. If so, what's a good 3rd party car app?
If that's not possible, then can I completely disable the car app from launching when docked? I'd prefer to keep using the Motorola car dock since I have Smart Actions that turn on GPS and Bluetooth when docked. I can press menu then exit to go to the home screen but when I press the home button it launches the car dock app again.
I bought the official Droid 3 Vehicle Dock from Verizon's web site. I knew that it did not come with the USB charger that plugs into the lighter socket, but that's OK because I have several of them. But I was surprised to see that the special Micro USB cable with the audio jack was not in the box.So is Verizon selling the car dock without the special cable that is shown in the instruction booklet? Or did I just get lucky and they forgot to put it in my box? I can't find a place to order that cable either from Verizon or direct from Motorola.
I recently ordered a Droid 3, which came with free car dock and home dock. But when the phone is hooked up to the car dock-which is suppose to help the phone be "hands free"- the sound won't work. In other words, when I get a text and it says, "say Listen to hear your text" I can't ? This also happens when I try to use the navigation. I can see and it works fine, but I can't hear the instructions unless I take it off the dock, which is where I need it to be.
I have two minor issues with the car dock/ vehicle navigation app. 1. Can I turn off the autolaunch when the phone is placed in the vehicle dock? When I put the phone into the dock, the app immediately opens, and I don't want it to. If I already have Pandora or Navigation running , I want that app to stay up and running instead of the phone opening the car dock homescreen. 2. Can I have the home button go to the car dock home screen when the home button is pressed while the phone is in the dock? Currently,if my phone is in the car dock and I press the home button, it takes me to my regular home screen. To get to the vehicle home screen, I have to pull down the notification bar and select the notification. I am currently using GO Launcher, but I think the issue still occurs with the stock launcher.
how to disable the auto text read back while in the car dock. There's no way to reply. I have a command one Bluetooth that works with motospeak so that I can be hands free while driving. The auto read out function over shadows this, making it worthless.
When listening to music with the phone not in the Car Dock, I can view all songs, albums, artists, etc.... in the library. When I put the phone into the car dock, the library shows one folder, "Recently added", with nothing in it. No other music is displayed. If I want to change albums, I have to remove the phone from the dock, select the new album, and replace the phone in the dock.
Since the 2.3.4 update (and the factory reset that went with it) I'm getting my notification sounds at night while in the charging cradle. I thought the cradle software was supposed to automatically mute those notification sounds, but there must be something I've not set right somewhere. Anyone know how to fix it?
I have a protective case on my phone that is just the thin rubber protectant. My Bionic won't fit in the LapDock unless I remove the case. Isn't there an insert or something that is supposed to come off of the LapDock to allow phones with cases to fit on the dock?
I've searched here and several other forums without success for an answer to how to suppress the notification sound that occurs when inserting the Droid 3 into the HD dock. I did see another thread that seems to mention this but it deals more with ongoing notifications throughout the night and I don't have any problems with that. don't want to use silent mode because I want calls to come through, but I don't want the notification sound to play on insert. I've tried the Bedside dock app becuase it selectively suppresses notification sounds (no email alert, can choose phone or SMS alerts). Bedside works great to handle email notifications but it insn't active until after the dock insert sound has played. This is a real nusiance when my wife is already asleep when I place the phone in the dock.
This might be a n00b question, but I searched for a good bit without findind an answer.I'm not using the official Motorola car dock accessory, mainly becasue I cannot with the case I have on my phone. (this guy). So, I picked up a third party windshield mount at Best Buy. My question is, how do I open the CarDock application without the official Motorola Car dock?
