I have a Droid 4 through Verizon running Graham Cracker. I recently had a 4g Sandisk Nicro SD card installed and it worked fine. I turned off my phone, removed the 4gb card and installed a 32gb Sandisk Micro SD card. The installation seemed to have gone successfully. When I turned on my phone it asked me if I wanted to move my media to the SDcard and it moved all those files. When I went to move my apps and I select a movable app, the only choice I have is "move to media area" I do not have a chice to move to SD card. I have restarted the phone looked at and moved data around on teh SD card from the phone and when connected to a pc and that all works fine.
Is the Xoom f.e. capable of moving apps to an sd card? I've tried several such apps, but none seem to work. Is this a hardware issue / limitation of the f.e or can someone recommend an app2sd card app for the f.e..?
I have a relatively new Atrix and installed a 32GB Micro SD card.I am trying to move apps over to my SD Card using both a 3d party (Apps2SD) and internal (File Manager)to move the apps.It show that the apps are in the internal SD (not external). I am close to running out of memory (only 2gb of my internal 10bg available).
I have not noticed the SD problem. But, it that is also not working, it may be something that I can take back to Verizon for a new phone, and just keep taking it back because none of them are going to work.
I did as you suggested and checked my phone using the Astro File app. It is as you said, the SD card is different than the SD ext. I moved Dropbox mannually to the SD ext, and it promptly disappeared from my list of installed apps. There is nothing on my SD ext except for some music files that I put there manually while hooked up to the computer. So, all of the Apps2SD are really not going to the SD card at all. You are right, apps should install automaticall on the SD if they are capable, or at least as you where they want you to install them.
So, is there a way to actually move an app to the SD ext card?
I have music on the Bionic and it seems to be stored on internal storage.. The sd card seems to be empty and i want to store my music there..how come its not stored on the removable storage? how can i get it there?
Since the GB update I have noticed that apps the do not install to the SD card by default fail the first time when you manually tell it to install the SD card. If you immediately try it again it will move successfully..I have already cleared the cache and factory reset to work around other odd app crash/stability issues but this items seems to persist. I have noticed the issue with/without SD card encryption enabled.
My wife replaced her Droid 2 with a Droid Razr M last week. When I activated the phone for her I discovered there is no toggle option to move any Apps from internal storage to the SD Card. This is usually found by going to Settings-Manage Apps-Download-App Info as a toggle "Move to SD Card/Move to Internal Storage". I went to Motorola's chat and exhausted their knowledge base and was then directed to a phone support number. After talking with a level 1 and level 2 help persons, they synched into my wife's phone and then compared a Razr M on their end. They finally admitted that the move option does not appear in the Razr M version of ICS. This is a critical omission considering the limited size of the Razr M internal storage.I was told by the level 2 that there might be Apps available to fix the problem. I tried App2SD but found it directed me back to the missing toggle. Is this true of all Razr M phones or is it a bug in the software of only a few? In either case, is there a service patch available to correct it?
Got a notification on my phone that memory is getting low. Wanted to find out if anyone can share how to move pictures and music to SD card to free up space
Some of my apps have the ability to be moved to the SD card and when I do, they function fine. But if they are on my home (or secondary) screen the icons show up as generic when the phone is started.Sometimes the clear but most of the time they don't.
i bought the LG G3 D855 phone using android kitkat 4.4 but am now regretting because it was advertised that it had 2 GB ram but actually gives me only 450mbs ram(this is the biggest factor with speed lagging performance etc) and on top of that does not allow downloaded apps to either manually transfer or automatically to the sd card. meanwhile using the file manager as the word says can only transfer files manually not apps. After factory resetting the memory gets full quickly and therefore the phone is back to its sluggish ways.
I just bought a HTC legend. And i have downloaded multiple apps, But now i got a warning that says that the phone is running out of memory. How can i move my apps to my SD card?
Just received my refurbished DX to hopefully work better than my current one which has been a pain since the Gingerbread update. I have quite a few apps installed on my SD card that didn't make it through the lame VZ backup. Do I have to reinstall them from the market or is there a way to just have them recognized?
does anyone know how to specify an app be downloaded, stored, or moved to the SD card, without using a 3rd party app? I just started using the droidx2, I bought a nice class 10 micro sd card, and all I can store on it are photos/videos/notes. im waiting for the tech manual from Motorola to arrive.
I am finally maxing out my internal storage and I really have not tried, or paid attention to storing any of the apps I have to my SD card. Also, I am getting these notifications everytime I power off and power back on again that say I am low on internal storage (hence the desire to start saving to my SD card). I do not find the directory structure of the SD card for the Droid X2 very intuitive . . . on the other hand, to be fair I haven't really spent the time to understand it either because I didn't have the need to until now. As an example, I have an Angry Bird "update" that I tried to download. However, when it gets to the point where it is almost done, it says it cannot complete the download because I do not have enough space. It is referring to my internal storage of which I have 0 GB. How do I switch the storage to my SD card instead of my internal storage, or does it depend on the app (and in this case Angry Birds just doesn't allow SD card storage?).
how can i install new apps to xperia mini pro?my internal storage almost full.i have try to do like this tread http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/25797,but when i root via nlockRoot.com,,there is "fail to get sheel root" show up.
is it best to try to move most apps whenever you have the chance to the sd card rather than to the phone memory. Today I tried moving instagram and fb messenger to the sd card from phone memory and when I tried opening those apps they froze where I had to remove the battery . After I removed the battery they started working fine .. Any benefits into moving apps to sd card ?? or should I try to leave all the apps on phone memory ..
i have been trying for a while now to free up storage on my phone in order to solve the problem and have even inserted a new 4gb memory card into the phone, and have been unable to store apps to the sd card, to free up space on the internal memory of the phone. also i have been unable to direct downloading apps to be saved in the sd card instead of the phones memory.i have a funny feeling though that there is a fault within the phone itself.
Every time I connect my phone to a laptop, all of my apps that are saved to the sd card disappear from the home screen. Also, if I move an app to the sd card, when it's not connected to a computer, it disappears from my home screen as well.It seems like a recent update to the phone has caused problems with app to sd functionality. Is there any way to fix this other than moving all my apps back to the phone?
I have a few apps on my phone that can't locate the sd card. The most important of these (to me) are apps that are designed to read or import csv files and create little databases from the data.
All of them look for files on the sd card automatically and report that none are present (of course, I know they are because I put them there). One of them offers the option of searching for the files manually. When I do, instead of displaying the contents of my sd card, it displays the contents of my internal storage. I suspect that's where the apps that search automatically are looking as well.
I tried dismounting/remounting the sd card. Didn't work.
Yesterday I spoke to a second tier Motorola support agent. He tried various things by taking charge of my phone remotely, then did a factory reset. No joy. He said that in his opinion, the apps (all four of them) are at fault.
One of those apps worked perfectly under Gingerbread. I downloaded the other three when it stopped working after the ICS upgrade.
I had a similar problem with an mp3 player when it tried to automatically find the mp3 folder on my sd card. Did the same thing: examined the internal storage instead, even though I chose the option to search the external card. Fortunately, that app also had an option to search manually, and that function saw the sd card.
These data apps are very important to me. One developer said he's working on an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. The other developers haven't replied, though their sites claim that their products are compatible with Android 4.
Is this an operating system problem? A device problem? Is there a way to "tell" apps the path to your sd card? The names of the apps: Panacea Database, Sailforms, Memento, Collector.
If anyone else using a Razr Maxx running Ice Cream has found an app that can successfully import a csv file or read an mdb file (Microsoft Access) on the sd card
In my Droid X, when I go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>On SD Card, to the right of some of the apps is a green box with a check mark in the box. To the right of the other apps on the SD card is a grayed out box. I cannot turn the green box into a gray box and I cannot turn the gray box into a green box by tapping on the box.
What does the green box indicate and what does the grayed out box indicate? What changes the box from green to gray and gray to green?
Cant delete some of the preset rubbish and cant seem to move stuff to card, had a play with an application manager but scared the **** out of me and looked really complicated Battery has also suddenly become awful and I use task manager to shut everything down every time I use anything, not been a prob before and been on 2.1 a while now?
My internal memory is full and I tried to move some application to SD card but without success!! this is what I did: Settings > applications> manage applications> (I choose an application)> (the "Move to SD card" button is not activated)!!!!
My mini pro was acting strangly so I reset it. Backed up my contacts & retrieved them from the sd card , however I can't work out how to transfer the apps which I'd put on the sd card back to the phone.
