Nov 12, 2014Never seen it before. Its a white star next to the WiFi indicator. Nothing in the notification shade, just a random star?

View 13 RepliesI've seen the star appear a handful of times since I got my X back in November. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint anything that I was doing at the time when the star appeared, why it was there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am not getting sound notification for SMS on hangout or any other app I have tried. This just started recently. I have checked settings and can't find why.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got the notification for the Android 5.1 update. I started downloading it but I cancelled it while it was downloading because I remembered that my phone was close to dead. Now when I got back home, I go to System Updates in settings and it says my phone is up to date but the OS is 5.0.1 ....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Hangouts on my Moto 2014. Every time I get a text message I get a white notification bar with the name of the person who texted me and their text message. To read or reply to the text I have to touch the Hangouts icon because single or double taping the white notification does nothing and I cannot swipe to remove it. I only get this notification when the phone is on but not in screen lock mode. How do I stop this white notification bar from popping up?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the update the Hangout today and ever since all my SMS messages vibrate in addition to my selected notification sound.
I have tried everything to turn this off. All the "Vibrate" check boxes are cleared and still it vibrates.
It does not vibrate for Hangouts messages only SMS. Yes, I know there is a separate setting for each message type. All of them have Vibrate unchecked.
I even tries restarting the phone, but that did not work.

View 2 Replies View Relatedince I got 5.0, my phone's wifi is disabled after a reboot (either a proper shutdown/restart OR one of the many unexpected reboots I've experienced).. I have to go back into quick settings and turn Wifi back on, and everything's fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've recently noticed, I wont receive any push notifications (tapatalk, email, etc) until im on a wifi connection. I receive texts, calls. All data restrictions are off, so that's not the issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some time now my moto x has been unable to connect to WiFi or Bluetooth. I have been unable to find a solution. I have now come across the second update where I am unable to download it because of a lack of wifi. I downloaded Motorola Device Manager on my PC after being prompted today and it told me there was no update found, but my current software is "NA". I am not sure how to solve this issue. I have talked to AT&T and they want me to pay the $100 to get the phone replaced, but as I am eligible or an upgrade in a month or so I feel that is a waste of money.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThroughout the course on the day my moto x(2014) connects to 4 different wifi networks. All networks are secure and the passwords are stored on my device. When i leave one wifi network and move in range of another network my device isn't automatically connecting to the next network till i wake the phone up with the power bottom or unlock the device. Am i wrong in thinking it should connect automatically as soon as the phone is in range of the closest network? the only thing i have tried is running the phone in safe mode but it still didn't "auto-connect".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried all I could think of, clearing cache out, checking for conflicting devices, tried uninstalling some apps I think my be the culprit, rebooting the device, the router, and the Modem etc..... The problem still occurs, I'm not sure if this started since the 5.1 update or prior, all I can say I only noticed it a few days ago, when I decided to do a Speedtest, I know I have done Speedtest before, and never noticed this issue.
Once I'm connected to WiFi and my Bluetooth is turned on, my WiFi speeds are slow and bounce from 2Mb's to 5 Mb's, and when I say bounces the speeds go up and down during the process. As soon as I turn Bluetooth off the speeds are back above the 30 Mb's.
I have tried many of the recommendations around, but have yet to find a solution, Is it a LP issue ?? any other device I have connected I have no issues, I even have a back up Huawei, on LP, and have no issues when BT is turned on.
Heck, even my wife's 1st Gen Moto X has no issues. Since I only realized this recently, today when I get to work I will try it when I get to work and see if it does the same on WiFi there when BT is turned on.
My wife and I both have 2014 Moto Xs on AT&T, roughly 3 weeks old. My phone is 100% great, however her phone will only connect to Wifi networks if mobile data is turned off.
I've tried everything, and can't get it to work correctly. It will either show the list of networks associated with the device with the word "disabled" under the most recent network, or be stuck on the blank "Searching for Wi-Fi networks..." screen.
I have been using the X 2nd Generation for 3 months now. However I have been unable to tether my device for using my phone's Internet on other devices. It shows that WiFi is connected on other devices but when trying to connect to the Internet it says that no internet connection was found. This happens with my IPad, My Windows laptop as well as other mobile device.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone doesn't automatically connect to wifi when mobile data is on. I have been searching for a fix or setting since.I have ATT. My whole family has ATT. The kids both have 1st gen Moto X and my husband has Samsung, none of them have this issue and I believe we are all running the same android version.I have done lots of different things I have found along the way during my search for a fix but nothing has worked.
I can tell you that if I shut my mobile off and turn my Wifi on it will connect then I can turn my mobile back on and it will stay that way until I go out of my wifi range and the mobile kicks on then when I return to wifi range it won't connect. If I try to connect it will say disabled. That is when I turn off mobile, turn on wifi and then go back and turn mobile on again. If my mobile is off and I go out of wifi range it will connect back just fine, the issue seems to be only when mobile is ON.
I would like to be able to leave mobile on so I can receive MMS. But this is a pain because sometimes I forget that wifi didn't connect or I forget to go back in and turn mobile on and miss a lot of group texts, iphone long texts that come as MMS and pic texts until I turn my mobile on which sometimes could be days.
I leave my WiFi constantly turned on on my phone. I use WiFi at home and work so it will automatically connect when I'm in those 2 places, but anywhere else it isn't connected. Is it still using battery even if its not connected? Does it search for a connection when its not connected, sort of like the radios searching for a cellular signal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo whenever I use hangouts to place a call (to a conference line for example) 3g/4g work fantastically, better than a cellular call. However if I am on wifi the hangouts call audio is constantly speeding up and slowing down, and people complain they cant hear me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue may not be specific to the Moto X 2014, but it's the phone I'm using. I'm able to tether my Moto X to my Dell laptop and use the internet, no problem.
But when I turn on the portable wi-fi hotspot, give it a network name, set security to WPA2 PSK, broadcast channel (either 2.4 or 5 GHz) and give it a password (at least 8 characters), it doesn't work. My laptop connects, but there's no internet data.
Given that I'm able to share my mobile phone data plan with my laptop via a tether, I'm curious as hell to know why the hotspot feature isn't work.
Noticed very slow WiFi post the 5.1 update? I have done several speed tests and am getting under 1 mbps. My laptop and desktop both on the same wireless connection are pulling over 8 mbps.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sorry I looked for a similar thread but didn't see one. I have an indicator that just popped up....on my home screen right next to my email/message indicator....it is a blue box with 4 dots and has a little red star in the top corner of the blue box (similar to new email star).

View 10 Replies View RelatedI apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere, but is there any setting somewhere that will keep the Red Star notification on until the particular email/sms itself is opened (rather than just opening the email/sms folder)?I'd like to have the Red Star stay on even after I check the folder, until I open the actual email/sms itself.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I understand Priority Notifications is the new 'silent' mode but I can't get it working so that it has the same functionality as older Android versions.
I've set all priority notifications (events / calls / messages) off and choose to turn on priority notifications indefinitely but each day it reverts back to 'all' so I have to remember to turn it on every day.
Also, when in an app (e.g WhatsApp) and a new message comes through, it still makes a noise even though it's in priority notifications mode!
Pre-Lollipop, I was able to have a different ringtone for each contact. This was set in the 'Contacts' app. I can't seem to see how to do this in Lollipop.
