I've downloaded the app tag editor on my old phone and my new Icon. After downloading the app both phones saw a dramatic decrease in battery life. They both decreased from 1 day 15 hours estimated battery life to just 15 hours. I've uninstalled the app and done a soft reset and the problem persists.
View 10 RepliesSo I have had my BB Style for almost one year. I have not had a problem with it until recently. Without downloading any new apps, i was all of a sudden needing to charge my phone at least twice a day. Furthermore BBM stopped working along with most of my apps. Lastly I was not receiving any emails on my phone either (recently received all of them yesterday from several days ago). Does this tend to happen when the battery needs to be replaced? I did reboot my phone and noticed my battery was running on the warm side.

On the other hand since Monday but battery life has changed, and even with the full battery the prediction of time (displayed on settings menu) until it becomes empty is about 16 hours, nothing more. Before that I could see a prediction of more than 40 hours, and the phone used to last that long. Now, with the same applications, etc. it decreases drastically, should i send the phone for warranty?

It might have been updating email but that shouldn't kill the battery like that. I don't use it that much during the day but it seems to go down really fast. I'm currently at 47% and it estimates 1 hour left....

My usage is typically around this:1 hour on the phone.15 minutes of Twitter. 15 minutes of browsing on 3G. No bluetooth/ WiFi/ Internet sharing on most days. Manual brightness setting. Battery Saver on. Dark backgroundLocation settings off. Email refresh after 1 hour. XBox signed out. I can't think of anything else I can do to reduce my power consumption. I'm using the firmware version 1066.0000.8779.12201, which according to my Customer care is the latest firmware version. Nokia claims a 720 hr standby time on 3G, which I am nowhere close to.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.
Since loading Lollipop, on G3 Verizon.....several apps will not load at all, and most others are very slow. Should I give it a few days to settle in. Google apps are slow, also?

For instance disabling "Samsung Push Services" seems to bring a little boost to battery performance.
Carrier bloat aside because that's a given to be disabled.
I've been experiencing pretty good battery life on my atrix (about 50% left after 12
hours of typical use). Then I installed a couple free games (I think it was a backgammon game and maybe some other board game). Almost immediately, I noticed a drop in battery life. I uninstalled those two games but my battery life did not improve.
I tried clearing the cache and made sure there wasn't anything causing it but ultimately I had to do a factory reset which got me back to where I was before installing those two games.
Just bought the lumia 1520 , and im watching the battery life of this phone , it dropped from 100 % to 90 % in 5 hours standby !!! Without touching the phone

Previously the battery was great and after full charge it usually showed battery life 1day or even longer. This Tuesday I used camera a lot. The handset did get warmer because of flash and focus assist lamp. After that night the battery darin rate became really fast. After one overnight charge 100% battery only shows 9hours and drain rate was like 10% per hour. why this occured suddently? Do I need to reset the phone to factory?

For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%. I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me. A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%. A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work. After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery. But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that. Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?

After that I think it decrease too much and almost 1% per minute when surfing. But one thing I might be wrong is killing apps in the multitasking menu. Will that increase or decrease battery life? I am thinking maybe it will decrease rather since it is more of an effort to reload the program then having it idle in memory. Am I wrong and what else could affect battery life? I have fixed usual suspects, brightness, location services and push services.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI always use WhatsApp web. Before getting my Lumia 950 I used Android: when I received notifications on WhatsApp web the screen of the phone remained off so the battery wasn't suffering much.
On WP I first turned off the notifications on lock screen: then I realized it wasn't even making sounds nor vibrate! Then I turned the banner in WhatsApp notifications settings off: now the notifications are there without turning on the screen, but I have no banner even when the phone is unlocked.
Is there another way to prevent for every app the screen from turning on when locked and a notification arrives, and show normal banners when unlocked?
I have just got my Lumia 800 and seems pretty fancy. But still one thing which really bothers me a lot. The battery life! I have update to WP7.5 on day 1. System information as below:

The thing is, I unplugged the charger at 9 in the morning and when it came to around 9 in the night. The battery is critical low. I just made few calls, text and no more than 10 mins twitter stuff and the battery is done? My iphone could even stand for 1 day with this usage. I tried everything, reset the fone. But seems not working.
When I playing game or using internet explorer, it feel hot , then I stop playing and stop using phone, standby mode, it continue feeling hot and reduce battery life.

Is there and options I can do to improve battery life? I noticed there is no way to toggle back and forth betwen 3G and 4G and background data cant be turned off now. I have also noticed they got rid of the task manager that actually worked and force quit the apps. I had to force quit ever app manually ever since the update. Every app was running in the background. I got this phone for the extended battery life and if I dont use the phone all day and by the end of the night I have 20% battery left, something is wrong. ICS has a lot of great features, but if I had a chance to un-install ICS I would.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a red 920.So I charged my battery to 100% and took it off the charger. This was in the middle of the night (yes, I'm a night owl). But I did it because I wanted to test it with absolutely no use. So I set the wifi to always on and left the phone. four hours later I checked the battery. It was down to 60%. This was after absolutely no use. The only thing I have is two email accounts set to fetch every hour.
i then recharged to 100% again, changed the wifi settings back to the original setting and left it for another 4 hours. The battery was down to 63%. Not that much different from setting wifi to always on.However, previously my phone would lose at most 1% after idle for even 8 hours. As I stated my battery life has always been very good.the only difference was the OS update, no new apps, no setting changes, etc. I have to assume it was the update. I know it's not really scientific and partially anecdotal but it is what it is.
Just got my Icon today, and my laptop with Windows 8.1 about 48 hours earlier (after coming straight from Vista). Should I be closing apps on the Icon like I would on my old iPhone? It's easy on my laptop but I can only find how to pin or uninstall apps on the Icon.Took some setup, but I'm liking how its pulling from my microsoft account and syncing a lot of settings in apps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo today my Nokia Lumia Icon (Still on 8.0) had the "4 hour bug." This is where the phone gets quite hot and the battery lasts less than 4 hours on idle.
What was interesting to me, though, was after my battery died and I tried charging it, it'd get stuck in a loop.
1)Battery Icon with Red Line showing "Charging."
2)Vibrate
3)Nokia Logo
4)Repeat every 5-10 seconds.
Doing a Soft Reset fixed it (Volume Down + Power for 15 seconds) but I'm still wondering if there's been anything from Nokia or Microsoft about this issue other than "We are aware of it." It's been 10 months since this issue arrived on older devices, and it seems to be a Nokia-wide issue.
I'm still new to Windows Phone and wondering if there's a way to open an App instead of a web page when clicking no a link.
For example, if I'm reading a Twitter feed and someone links to an Instagram photo, the link opens up in Explorer, not the Instagram App. Anyway to change this?
I have an Icon and I have recently updated to Win8.1 DP, I went a day or so shocked at how quickly the battery was dying and then remembered to check for running apps. OUCH! When the update was through most of the apps updated to an 8.1 version, all well and good, except that they all chose to run in the background.
I have since "blocked" most of them from running in the background, but I would like to be able to reset the Battery Saver app so I can trouble shoot which apps are still operating as a battery hog.
Last night I let my battery die. Not on purpose, of course. It was at 4% and I was actually walking over to the charger when I got the goodbye message and the phone shut off. I tried to turn it on, but I just got the low battery sign. I remember this happened on my old phone, so I just let it charge for the night. Unfortunately, when I woke up this morning it still wouldn't turn on. Didn't even get the low battery sign. Soft reset does nothing. Both of my computers did not even recognize that anything was plugged in. The only thing is, last week when I charged my phone I got a message saying something along the lines of your phone is charging slow because you're not using the stock charger.

However when I add new email account for Yahoo and Google it doesn't sync right away and when I check email manually using browser the email is still there after few hours or the next day.
