May 27, 2012I have an iPhone 3GS and a Composite AV cable, but my tv won't recognize that the iPhone is plugged in (no video or audio). I've tried it in multiple ports, including the one my dvd player is usually plugged into (so I know that one works). The booklet that came with the cable said to make sure that the iPhone was set up to send a video signal to the tv, but none of the support manuals nor Google has been able to tell me how to do that (at least for a 3GS).

May 18, 2012Updated to 5.1.1 on iPhone 4s and noticed when I plugged the Apple AV composite cable, the phone says it's not an authorized device and won't allow charging.

Jul 2, 2012For some inexplicable reason the video out functionality of my iPhone 4 no longer works. I thought it might have been a cable issue at first, but I tested it on an Apple composite cable, an Apple component cable, and an Apple HDMI cable. As you can see, I have spent a lot of money on Apple cable products because I use the phone in both home and educational settings that have very different connection options. Now, the cable seems to allow audio to pass through the analog cables, but the HDMI functionality seems to be completely shut down, both video and audio. To be clear, I have already performed a reset and recovery, which did not correct the problem. The iPhone was running iOS 5.1.1 before the reset as well as after. Interestingly, I tested a current generation iPod running iOS 5.1.1 on the cables and the video out worked, including confirmation that the Netflix app works. This is a sudden and disasterous failure for which I have no explanation. The phone has not been damaged or exposed in any way.

Jul 5, 2010I just switched over from the 1st Generation iPod Touch to the iPhone 4. I also have iPod/iPhone integration in my car.I noticed with the new iPhone, that the volume on my radio must be turned up much higher than was required with the iPod touch. The problem that this causes is excessive electrical noise from the car, plus a lot more noise from the radio circuitry in the iPhone. On top of that, if I switch over to radio without changing the volume, I get blasted.
I believe if Apple just bumped up the volume a bit for the dock connector, that this issue would be alleviated.To give you an idea... I have a 2006 Mazda3 2.0L. I installed a Neo ProLink PODMAZ-R2V1. With my iPod touch, I usually listened to music on 15/40. With the iPhone, I have to crank it up to about 28/40 to match the iPod Touch.
Increasing the dock volume output will quiet down the electrical interference shared between my car and the iPhone itself as well as keep the volume level between switching to the radio and the iPhone.I know the volume varies from car to car, but the amount of electrical noise heard from the iPhone should be a clear indication that the volume is set too low.Just a little curious if anyone else has noticed this? I know I'm taking quite a big leap from a 1st Gen iPod Touch to a 4th Gen iPhone, but this still shouldn't be an issue.

Has anyone found a conversion utility that properly converts a .3gp video file to rotate the video horizontally (on a PC)? I've found several that CLAIM to, but the problem I continue to run into is that the Audio doesn't propery SYNC in the resulting output file (e.g., .avi).

Mar 20, 2012i just updated my iphone 4s to ios 5.1 and now i have no vieo output with an av (red white yellow) cable. before the update i was able to stream Internet and netflix videos with an av cable to a my tv at home or my navigation system in my car.

my question is in regards to infinity blade ii. on the app purchase information it states;

the definitive visual experience in mobile gaming, complete with all-new icloud support and hdmi output."
i plug in the adapter and start infinity blade ii and nothing is outputted to the tv. there is also no option to enable it under the settings menu in the app itself. how do you get it to work? is it false advertising? is it an option only available to the iphone 4s and ipad 2? is it only available through airplay? will the feature be included in a future update?

Mar 29, 2012 I recently bought a new VW GTI. I'm a software engineer and I'm very well versed in my iPhone and it's operation. My car maintains 2 external connections with my phone. My hands free phone requires the use of bluetooth. For my stereo, I perfer the MDI to dock connector for the audio quality. Here is the following problem I experience.
I turn on my stero to the MDI input interface Listen to music, and use Waze to navigate Receive a phone call, which initiates the bluetooth audio out End the phone call
Audio out is now set to bluetooth. It does not return to the MDI output interface, as a result my stero doesn't work.
I've gone digging through all my settings, but I can't find anything relevant to what I want. Basically I want to set my audio device output preference order. My device order would be the following.
MDI Interface
VW Bluetooth
Headphones/Speakers
Is it possible to to this or something similar with my iPhone?

Aug 15, 2012I have a HDMI display device which does not support HDCP. It is a HDMI video recorder (BlackMagic), so it makes sense that it does not support HDCP encrypted info. It works fine with all the other LG and Samsung Android devices with HDMI output, but now I connect Xperia Neo V to it and it tells "screen is turned of or does not support HDCP". I purchased the device specifically to be able to record screen casts of the mobile apps I have developed. can I disable HDCP signal encryption? I've connected the Neo V with TV and I can see that the image quality is quite poor there (definetely worse than 720p as it should be), so I see no real point in HDCP protection. I did not see any specification or reference in manuals that the device is compatible with HDCP HDMI only.

Jun 24, 2014So I was already impressed with the M8. I got it the day it arrived at Verizon and I have loved it since. The only thing I am not happy with is the lack of RBG notify LED. But I'm over it.
This past weekend I bought a 60" Samsung Smart TV and while I was discovering it's features I came across something called mirror casting. The M8 is compatible with it and I'm able to pair it with the TV and mirror my phone right onto the 60" screen. THAT'S FREAKIN AWESOME!! I can put anything up there! Pictures, movies, texts. Anything. I have to still manipulate the phone to navigate what I'm doing, but really, I love it. Especially since I pay $9.99/mo for the WWE Network and now I can mirror cast the app and any pay-per-view without having to hard-connect anything to the TV. What a feature!
