IPhone :: Tethering Work Without The Risk Jailbreaking
Feb 18, 2010
Does anyone have any information on when AT&T is going to let people buy tethering plans for an iPhone, and it will work without the risk of jailbreaking? I work in IT and need to be able to tether if there is an urgent need for me to get into our company's network...
I just updated my iMac and have os 10.6.3. Haven't updated or synced my iphone since purchase 4 (4.2.6). I am concerned about loosing everything on my iphone.
I use MyWi currently for usb tethering, once AT&T rolls out their tethering plan, will we still be able to use MyWi without AT&T knowing? Also, why do I need to reset my network settings all the time for my maps app to locate me correctly?
I have a SM-G900F (no carrier) European S5, bought like a couple months ago, not rooted or installed any custom rom, full stock on 5.0.
When I enable Mobile Hotspot or share the connection through USB, the other devices connect just fine, but no data is received at all.
* Tested with both a laptop and another phone * To rule out carrier restrictions, I put the SIM in a Nexus4 and enabled Wifi tethering, then connected to it with the S5, works np, just not the other way around.
I read about apps that allow tethering of other devices without the additional tethering plans... foxfi was one that was suggested... however, I don't think it is working on the S6. Any app that works?
I have a 3GS, running iOS4. It has never been 'jailbroken' before. My model number is MC131B.I have iTunes 9.2.I have a MacBook Pro.Can I jailbreak my iPhone?
I got 4.0 this morning and then tried the jailbreak, but I keep getting this error 1600 message. Does anyone know how to fix this? I need to sell the phone jailbroken tomorrow!
I forgot to, and my last backup was from july 16th, I've stupidly lost 15 days of valuable notes. So even though its so simple to just jailbreak from your safari browser, you should still connect it to your computer and back it up just in case.
i watched a Internet video on how to get siri. it seems to just be downloading an app. but i just wanted to make sure it's not jailbreaking so i don't void any waranties. the video is:[url]. does this actually work?
Just noticed this tweet via @QuickPWN "Jailbreakers: iOS 4.1 Update Is A Trap [RT!] http://bit.ly/bs0pB0".No further information on how this has been accomplished by Apple but I am certainly waiting until an official response from the dev team is released.
I know this may have been asked several times already but I would like to solicit your patience again in answering my question. I hope somebody could clearly explain to me what should I do.I have a factory unlocked 3.1.2 3GS (HongKong purchased unit) with the new bootrom that I wish to jailbreak. What are my current options? What should I do? I saved my SHSH files to Saurik's server last week using Umbrella. I would greatly appreciate anyone's enlightenment.
I recently updated my iPhone 3g and am irritated with how slow it's running as I've heard a lot of people are. I've read about downgrading to the old OS but I'm beginning to consider jailbreaking it. I only have a few questions and i was hoping someone would know:
1) I'm planning on spending 6 months in SE Asia toward the end of this year. I'd like my phone to work there if possible. I'll completely admit that I've not researched this topic enough but my general question is, can I jailbreak my phone and then enable it for use in SE Asia, if so how? 2) Would jailbreaking the phone make it more difficult in some way to enable it for use there?
Unintelligible questions I know and I apologize but I have no idea with where to start for all of it.
i probably shouldnt say this but, okay i just recently asked a question.about my factory unlocked iphone 3gs asking how to activate it. so i got too excited of aving it and couldnt wait for my tmobile sim card to come one more day. so i "hactivated" it (i know this voids all warrenty) and i jailbroke it just so i could use it as an ipod.it worked and i was syched.
BUTTT.... it asked me if i wanted to update the software to 5.1 and i was like " oh yes id love to" and it started downloading it and it was inrecovery mode the whole time .when the download finished. i hit restore so i can put the software on the phone but the itunes had an error and the phone went glitchy and it does a rebooting loop. it shows the apple symbol with the slash through it for about 5 seconds and shuts off for a little bit (about another 5 seconds) and it starts up then loops the process. ive managed to turn the phone off but if i start it up it loops...Also it does not show up in my itunes because it is turning off to fast to detect.
Has anyone had any luck doing this without a tethering plan? I have a brand new Imac with Snow Leopard 10.6 and just picked up the Bold 9700 through At&t.
I have jailbroken many an iphone and ipod, and I have recently bought the S6. I am keen to root but it seems far more potentially troublsome, and far less straightforward.I bought this in New Zealand from Spark. I assume it is locked? Is the bootloader locked?I couldnt find the matching build on Chainfire, Can this particular model be rooted? Is there any guide to rooting? It seems all the information is spread out all over the place and no definitive guide and FAQ.I can't even find the original stock rom.Is rooting not similar to jailbreaking in the way it is done?
I'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new /white/ iPhone 3GS. I moved to AT&T from VZW and a droid (this phone is MILES ahead of android in terms of OS usability especially since I have a Mac, the syncing is seamless).
I got really lucky and the phone was a 3.1.2 (bought it a few days ago) so I was able to JB (tethered). I started playing around and tried out MyWi for the wifi tethering and it worked awesomely with my MacBook.
Here's my question:
I noticed that under settings>general>network, I have an internet tethering option that uses USB or Bluetooth. Is this a hack that was enabled inadvertently through something I did in the jailbreak process, or is this an AT&T feature that I will be charged extra for using? I'm curious because this seems like a cleaner approach since it's built into the OS.
I have had this irritating problem since I tried "MyWi" on my Iphone. The tethering bar at the top (just below the statusbar) won't go away. Even if I delete the application and restart my Iphone or if I reinstall it and then delete it and restart my Iphone it won't disappear. As soon as I turn my 3G or Wifi on and the phone recon that it has internetconnection there's a bar at the top of my screen saying "tethering" (or in rare occasions "xxxkb/s up xxxkb/s doown"). Sometimes when I turn of 3G and/or my Wifi the bar disapears or if I don't use any internetconnections for a while. I also downloaded ifile and deleted everything under "MyWi" under applications (weird that it was still there even after I deleted it via cydia.) I don't want to reinstall my phone
A co worker of mine racked up 2 gigs of data 2 months ago and burned through a blistering 8.6 gigs of data this past month. All of this on his 3Gs and none of it done by tethering with a jailbroken iPhone. He "claims" that he has no clue how it happened but I'm guessing he knows. How many video clips of wholesome family entertainment would he have to download to hit that impossible number. I nearly myself when I saw the bill.
I have an iPhone 3GS (32GB) and it's never been JB, it's running on 3.1.3 OS. I have been trying to set up Tethering but have had no luck , I don't want to JB but will if it's my last option
