IPhone :: Receiving Sms Messages From A Contact With Multiple Phone Numbers?
Mar 12, 2012I have many contacts that are couples and have a phone number for each individual. For example, if I had a contact for Jack & Jill, I would have a mobile number for Jill and a mobile number for Jack. In the Contacts I also custom label each mobile number as Jill's mobile and Jack's mobile.When I receive a text message from either of these phone numbers, in Messages I just see that the text is from Jack & Jill. I can't see if it is from Jack's mobile or Jill's mobile.Is there any way to see in Messages exactly which mobile is sending me the text? Or am I going to have to have a separate contact for each person, i.e. Jack & Jill will have to be split up as a contact for Jill and a contact for Jack?

Jun 23, 2014I have a contact with two phones - for instance, John and Jane Doe. I want to text them each separately, and easily see who I'm texting. But in the Messages history, it displays "John and Jane Doe". And it's a hassle to click on the message, then "Contact", then "i" to see which is colored blue.Â
I've even added custom identifiers to each phone number in gmail contacts. Instead of "Mobile" or "Work" I used their names, "John" and "Jane". I'd like to see those custom identifiers in the Messages app.

Mar 5, 2010I was wondering if there is a way on the 9630 to make one phone number of multiple numbers under one contact be the priority?A lot of times I type in the first couple of letters to get the contact and hit send to call them and then I get asked always what number to call on that contact. Starting to get a little old.I would like to make the personal mobile number the priority instead of being asked all the time or at least put in on the top of the list.I also notice on the 8530 for text messaging they have different colored backgrounds for the incoming and outgoing texts. Is there a option on our phones so they can do that too?

Sep 2, 2015I am facing a bit of an irritating problem on my samsung galaxy s6. When I go to phone -> 1-9 keyboard and use it for the letters (2=a,b,c; 3=d,e,f, etc.), I can easily find the number I need. The problem is that for most of my contacts, when I click them, a second window pops up, asking me exactly which number for this contact I'd like to dial. Now.... I don't have a second number for any of my contacts.
When I go and check them in the contacts menu, they only show one mobile number per contact. When the window thingy pops up, it always shows multiple options of the same exact number, or maybe the same number with some spacings added / removed between the digits. I am 99% sure that the problem is because of google contacts, viber, whatsapp, etc., but do not know how to fix it without removing the contact from the app.
IPhone :: Multiple Contacts With Multiple Phone Numbers?
May 11, 2012I have contact list with records for a lot of people (300+), each with several phone numbers each, home, mobile & work, etc, .I can't seem to find a way to have the iPhone announce the name & number or name & type (home,mobile,work) of the caller from the contact list, my old cell phone could do that easily.
At the moment what I've been doing as a work around for a few (important) people is to create a custom ringtone for that caller & that phone number. Since it also seems there's no way to attach a different ringtones to each number in a single contact record I've had to create multiple contact records for each person, each with a different name/number combination such as "John Doe Work", "John Doe Home" or John Doe Mobile" then assign to it the custom ringtone I created for that name/number.
I need to this so that if I receive a call while I'm driving (or whatever) that I can't answer right then for some reason (often happens), the ringtone I created for that name & number helpfully lets me know who & where their calling from. It's very important to know where someone is calling from, if someone's calling from home then I know I've got some time, but if their calling from work then I need to get back to them quickly.
having to make multiple contacts & ringtones for a every person with multiple numbers is a extraordinary waste of time. My old cell phone could do this with no problem but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this with my new iphone.

Sep 9, 2011Since my N8-00 has been upgraded to Symbian Anna, a single SMS message is billed multiple times.Now and then a simple SMS (within the constraints of a single SMS, without any special letters) shows up on my bill as if it was send 2 (sometimes even 3) times. Each time there is a delay of exactly 3 seconds between them.It seems as if the communication between the phone and the SIM card or the cell tower causes the phone to attempt sending the SMS multiple times, while actually each time it tries, the attempt is marked as sent and consecutively shows up on the bill.Because this problem has only been occuring since the upgrade to Symbian Anna, I suspect a software bug to be the problem.The receiver phone gets only 1 SMS as he/she is supposed to.

- When typing msges, it occasionally double enters a single letter when I have only pressed the key once Eg. terriible appears when I try keying in terrible.
- Pressing the menu button once at the initial home page brings me to not just the menu, but also the options at the menu page (ie. a double action with a single press)
- Likewise, the space and delete keys sometimes give me a double space or deletes 2 characters at single depressing of the key
I have tried rebooting numerous times in numerous ways, but this problem still persists.Anyone know of what may be the cause? Also, what actions should I take from here?

Sep 19, 2014This started happening pretty much immediately since I installed the 4.4.3 update late July, and has just gotten worse.
For a single one of my contacts, the SMS app lags HORRIBLY whenever I am doing anything with said person. It takes about half a minute just to load when I click his name, and the phone keeps completely freezing for up to 10-15 seconds EACH letter I type! It's not just the SMS app itself, but even the keyboard freezes up and is unresponsive. I can keep typing and it will apparently actually record the next 30 or so taps and just blaze through them ... then lag for another half minute or so again. None of the settings (how little there are) have had any effect. Once I click send the message also takes a bit before it appears and starts to send. Any action with this contact open in the SMS app seems to lag my phone like a unusable nightmare.
Since this is the person I tend to text the most, I have been tempted to crush the phone in my hand at this point. It is ONLY happening with them, and ONLY after the 4.4.3 update. It's not consistent either; I was still having this issue earlier today, but right now as I wanted to text him again it was working perfectly lag-free.

Apr 29, 2010I just got a blackberry storm 2 about 2 weeks ago. I am trying to figure out how to delete a single sms contact. I tried highlighting it and looking at the menu options (when i press the bberry key) and there is no option to delete that contact. will i need to delete it from my main contact list to 'make it go away' and then re-enter it? I'm asking because this contact has a blackberry, and before I was able to scan their code, I had entered them into my blackberry messenger using their phone number. Since I just scanned the code from their phone, I now have 2 contact listings, (one which I don't need).
Just wondering if there was an easy way to delete the one contact, or if I need to completely delete them from my contact list, and start the scan process over again, and re-add them to my contact list.

When I open Ovi Suite / Contacts / Contacts in E51 and open the abovementioned contact "A" it shows:
AMobile: 11Telephone: 44Mobile (other): 22As you see it deleted one of "Telephone" labeled numbers. It also happened when I used PC suite.
It is really annoying as if I save/sync the contact using Ovi, it causes loss of contacts data.BTW there is no problem using Backup/Restore function of Ovi/PC suite, nor "Copy to memory card" function of the phone itself.

May 4, 2012Traveling to the UK soon and am adding the contact info for our lodging, etc into my contact list. I have a Verizon iPhone 4S with an international sim unlock and plan on getting a pay-as-you-go sim with a local number when we arrive. The question is, How should I set up the numbers in my contact list? Should they be entered as local numbers or using the country code (+44)?
P.S. Verizon's customer service when I requested the unlock was quite good and they didn't pressure or even ask if I would rather get their international calling plan!
