iCloud sounds promising BUT just to be safe, in addition to using iCloud can I continue to back-up via my computer & iTunes also?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the iphone4. My laptop crashed back in February, so that was the last time I backed up my phone and was synced to a computer. I have no way of accessing anything on this computer. It doesn't turn on or anything, it is basically just a shell now, so I can't release my iphone from it's authorization with that computer and itunes. I am trying to finally sync my phone to a different computer. I went to both Verizon and the Apple store and they told me to go under my itunes preferences and make sure that the iphone does not automatically sync to the computer, so I did that. I plugged my iphone in and thankfully it didn't sync... but then they told me to manually save all my information and apps and pictures and contacts and what not from my iphone to my computer so that I had it incase everything got lost. However, there is no way for me to do this!!! I transfered my itunes purchases so it saved most of my apps, but I have no way of saving my music and photos and contacts. I'm not sure if I am supposed to backup my iphone to this computer? Or will I lose everything? And I know if I sync that I will lose everything since there is nothing saved to this computer. If someone could please help me that would be great!!! I have gone to both Apple and Verizon and read around on the internet trying to figure this out, but no one is giving straight steps on how to do this. I don't know how to save my contacts and photos and everything manually to the computer like they told me in case the sync loses everything. And this has been 5 months like this trying to get help and figure this out, and I'm definitely fed up to say the least. I also haven't even been able to update to ios 5 yet so I don't have iCloud or any other way of backing up everything.

I can't sync my iPhone and back up my data with my computer because iTunes says to enter the passcode into my iPhone to unlock it, but I am unable to unlock and enter in my passcode on my iPhone because the screen is shattered. I have my replacement iPhone with me and I'm not going to activate it until I can sync/get the data from my broken iPhone. I have the envelope to send my broken iPhone back to the Verizon store or whatever so that's not a problem. I just can't sync my old iPhone with my computer.

I would like to know how to reset the password that appears on my computer screen when I try to synchronize, run back ups etc. The password that I recorded when I installed the software does not work. The blackberry keyboard password doesn't work either. I set up a Blackberry ID and that doesn't assist at all. I cant find an explanation of all the different passwords.

I would like to sync my iPhone to iCloud (since MobileMe is about to be removed) for backup, but my desktop Mac doesn't connect to iCloud as I run Snow Leopard (not running Lion, and I have no intention of installing Lion, having heard how many problems that caused to my friends).Having tried to sync to iCloud with the phone, I'm now unable to sync with my desktop iCal or Address Book. Now, none of my appointments and reminders are being transferred between the two.

I am not able to sync my iPhone 3GS on iTunes. I keep getting an error "backup cannot be saved on this computer". I have tried to sync my phone to both my old desktop and my brand new laptop running the lastest version of iTunes but I keep geeting the same error. I have also tried deleteing the old backup file from the backup folder I'm trying to backup my old 3GS because my friend game me a new 3GS in perfect condition and I would like to transerfer everything over to it so I can start using it. My contacts, text messages, and photos are the most important things I want to transfer to the new phone. This shouldnt be hard to do but I get the error everytime I try to sync my current phone.

I have been backing up an iPhone 4 to iCloud for a while. I then purchased a new iPhone 4 as the old one was damaged, and set it up as a new phone. I haven't got around to setting up icloid backup yet. I now realise I want some data from an app in the old backup. Here is what I propose to do:
1. Backup new iPhone to iCloud
2. Restore new iPhone from old backup
3. Use the app's 'Email me my data feature' to get a copy of the DB
4. Restore new iPhone from new backup
Clearly I can only do this if during step 1 it doesn't overwrite the old backup. Can I have two separate backups?
I backed up my iphone to my computer before going to Apple Store where my phone was replaced. Once home I synced up and my apps were restored but not the pictures and video.
Are they there or were they not backed up? If they are there why weren't they restored and what can I do to restore them?

I have recieved a replacement iphone 4s under warranty. The problem is that when I tried to restore the phone using my icloud backup all it can find is my ipad backup. There is no evidence of the iphone backup I did earlier in the day before I got the new one. They both use the same apple id, of course. Does anyone have any idea how I can find my icloud backup(s)?

Is there a way to restore my device to an old iCloud backup? Yesterday I had to restore my device with my iTunes backup and it was months old and I'm afraid that now my iCloud backup is overwritten. Is there a way to choose whick backup I want to restore and say, 2 days ago instead of the latest one?

I got an iPhone 4s in December and it was backing up to iCloud with no problems. Then in February, I got an error that there wasn't enough space for the next backup. I realised my daughter's iPod touch was using my iCloud account for backups also, so I deleted that, but still got the error. I deleted a bunch of photos, still not enough space. But I have quite a few photos, and figure I'll be taking more, so I purchased an additional 10GB of iCloud storage. It was saying I needed 7.5 GB for backup-- 7.2 GB for photos. But every time I try and backup, it fails. I no longer get the error about space, but it runs for a couple of hours, then I come back to an error message that the last backup failed. Additionally frustrating is that now it's saying it only needs 5.1GB of space-- so it looks like I probably could have just deleted some more photos and didn't need the additional 10GB.

Today I backed up my iPhone to iCloud before restoring. Now my iPhone is restoring from the Computer backup from 6 months ago, not from iCloud. How can I restore from today's iCloud backup?
View 14 Replies View RelatedTitle pretty much says it. I have my backup preference set to iCloud, I lock and hard sync, yet periodically I get a message to the effect that "your device has not backed up to iCloud for ____(number of days)". I seem to be following protocol, but I must be doing something wrong. BTW, I've had some success forcing an iCloud backup by switching my prefence to the other option ( iTunes, IIRC) then switching back to iCloud backup, but, having used that approach only a few times, I'm not sure it would work consistently, and I shouldn't have to use that method, right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRestoring from iCloud backup: I downloaded iTunes, synched my iPhone 4s, and don't see any email, contacts, calendar items, photos, videos, or text messages. The screen does say the last backup to iCloud was minutes ago, but I have no idea how to check iCloud to make sure all my stuff is there before I restore my iPhone. (I need to restore the iPhone because it's having problems and Apple told me to do that through iTunes.) Apple told me I'd see everything in iTunes and could copy the stuff over once the restore is complete, but I just don't see anything in iTunes.
