Dec 24, 2011I decided to switch from my Sony Ericson/UIQ phone to an N8 and quite honestly I have transferred most of the 500 contacts tediously over single bluetooth to messages at a time. Before you tell me about OVI suite etc, many people may not have a PC, or may not get to install the Nokia Suite, or simply are scared or more bloating of their PC's.You should make handset to handset data portability. I pulled out an old 6630 I had with a full address book, youre datastorer.sis file you send over does not work in older phones. UIQ rejects it (application is invalid) and so do the 2nd getn Symbian phones....
The issue is that you still don't support multi vcf support multiple VCF business cards as single messages instead of just reading the first card and stopping.Why is it so hard? You guys at Nokia should know that people just give up, if they don't get to personalize their phone and get their data on, they just return it and go for another phone. So serious effort needs to go into this.In comparision I got I got the (SE) VCF frile from the N8 and emailed it to myself picked up the email with my iPod/Iphone/iPad and in under a minute I had the 500 contacts in Apple devices.Maybe instead o trying to invent augmentned reality gizmos you can focus on getting core functionality right. Maybe people will be able to switch to Symbian. If it is impossible to switch to Symbian no one will.... why not make a iPhone App for people to dump their data in a way it can be pulled into a Symbian phone.... Lots of people are sick of their iPhone and the battery shenigans.....

May 15, 2012I have had my daughter's iPhone associated with my Apple ID for several years now because A) She was too young to have an Apple ID of her own, and B) I wanted to be able to monitor her App Store purchases and such. Well now that she is older and has proven herself to be a responsible young lady, I want to get her her own Apple ID, as she will be getting a new McBook as a graduation present. My question is this: Is it possible to migrate all the apps and data from her phone to a new Apple ID without having to download all those apps again? I backup her phone to my computer on a regular basis.

Jun 19, 2010I have been a die hard fan and user of Nokia since it launched 5110 in around 2000. Since then I have used almost all the top models from Nokia. The only phone I liked really were 6610 & E 71. I got N900 and try to convince myself eveyday that its the best phone or internet tablet I have ever used.
But today it disappointed me very badly. My mate is a big fan of iphone and we always have argument which one is better. I always said N900. But today when he was with me I tried to open Many/all apps eg telephony, calendar etc. But it took tallest 30 sec to open any apps. And made me feel so embarrass. I discos from 3G , no apps running in background, but opening any apps taking so long is unacceptable, even after overclocking @ 900Mhz. I have used the iphone 3GS and its not bad at all. I know its made my apps but this is what we want afterall. isn't it. An app which can show a timetable of train/bus in 10 secs rather than opening full website taking 5 mins to do so. And many more.
I don't know what to say. I love N900 but I guess its not for use in public. Better use in private. I know now many people here will jump on tell me to do this and that and tell me its all my mistake to buy it.But anyone HONEST tell me if I'm wrong practically which one is better?

Apr 29, 2012I have used an iPhone 4 since October 2010. My wife followed suit in Dec 2011. We used iMessage as standard without any issues, but recently my iPhone was put in the wash by mistake, so while I'm waiting for the insurance to replace it, I am using my sim in an old Nokia (6230 or something). The thing is, now when she tries to send me an SMS messgage it won't come through to the Nokia. Other peoples make it OK, even from other iPhones. It says it sent as SMS on her phone too.it may be worth mentioning I switched to the Nokia the same day my iPad arrived, I was "playing", as you do, and tried to message my wife's iPhone from it as I was at home on my wifi network. This worked fine but not what I need, so I switched off iMessage on the iPad and now messages from her phone won't reach the Nokia
