Does "Erase All Content And Settings" do a secure erase? If yes, what type?Random characters or zeros? And does it do it once or 3x, 7x? It takes about 2 hours to erase a 16Gb iPhone 3G so I am thinking it probably is a secure erase and perhaps it's doing 3x. I would think zero'ing out or random'ing out the data would take much less than 2 hours for one go-around since to zero out 200 Gb on a hard drive on a Mac only takes 40 minutes.
If I use "Erase All Settings" and/or "Reset All Settings" on my Iphone, will that erase everything on the Iphone except the basic apps? Will I lose my unlock and jailbreak?I want to give my Iphone to my girlfriend but want to clean it up a bit.
What exactly does this do? Does it just pretty much wipe ALL your data off your phone? Is this the most secure way of deleting everything? Reason I ask is because even though I don't want to I might plan on selling my 16GB/3G to cover the cost of my 3Gs. If I do this will the person that bought it be able to use it as an iPod touch or phone/jailbreak or whatever and unlock? I am clueless about this option please help me and fill me in.
I currently have a 16g iphone 4s. I am swapping phones with my brother, and went to wipe the phone with the built in reset from settings. "Erase All Content and Settings". I clicked it and it immediately went to the "loading" screen where it is just a black screen with the white cirle, continuously circling. Now ive done this before and it took only a few minutes to reset. But this time around, i am currently going on 3 hours of it "Resetting".is there a shortcut, should i open phone up and unplug battery? let it die out? or wait it out and keep it plugged in??
When I try to erase all content and settings on my iphone 5, I get a "there was a problem deregistering this iphone with icloud try erasing this iphone again". This happens every time I try this procedure.Â

I am unable to erase all content and settings on my iPhone. Every time i do, apple logo appears soon after which a loading bar keeps rotating without fail for hours. That went on like for almost 5 hours last evening.
I have a big problem and I hope someone is able to help me. So i recently bought an iPhone 3g on ebay and it was already unlocked and jailbroken. I wanted to delete the contacts in there so I did the "erase all contents and settings." The things is, I did not know I was not suppose to do that to a jailbroken iPhone. Now my phone is stuck on the logo screen with the loading wheel thing. I did not look at the firmware version or any other specs. I also tried to do a restore on itunes, but I got "iphone could not be restored error 20." I am new to this, can someone please help me?
I just reset my Iphone 4 using "erase all content and settings" option and it goes blank. I connected it to my computer and it only shows the apple logo, this has been going on for several hours now. I tried to hold the power and home button at the same time, the logo just go on and off and when I release the buttons the apple goes back again. The I-tunes doe not recognized my i-phone (it was not listed on the devices).
If lets say, im about to meet with someone in few hours. and i go to settings, reset, then delete all content and settings.would this delete all info (such as, contacts, email, sms, calendars) but still keep cydia in there? and maybe all the apps that are jailbroken?
Is it better to reset the iphone or erase all content? I have an ongoing issue that the folks at the Apple store in Cherry Hill NJ cannot resolve. They tell me to "reset" the phone. But when I do the problem eventually returns. What happens when I erase all content?
I asked this before but I don't think ever received a response. What is the safest way to clean all content from your phone before selling? And if the buyer wants it Jailbroken, can you leave it Jailbroken/Unlocked and clean all of your personal data/media off it without restoring?
