I am (Netherlands). It's going to be a lonngggg month. 3GS will be gone by next week and than I still have to wait for 3 or 4 weeks. Pff. Luckily for me holiday is coming really soon so I can do whatever I want... without an iPhone 3Gspeed.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I each have an unlocked, no-contract iPhone 4s. Next month we'll be traveling for a couple weeks in Croatia (mostly) and a few days in Slovenia. We're planning to bring our phones with us. We'll be making just a few calls (probably to each other, when we get separated), and using some data - we'll try to take advantage of wfi when its available in our hotels, but I expect we'll use some data when no wifi is available. Doesn't have to be terribly fast (no streaming video), we'll make do with whatever connection speeds are available. I assume we can remove the micro-sim cards from the phones at home, before we leave (leaving them safely at home), then upon arrival at our destination purchase micro-sim cards for both phones, insert them and...I guess activate them on the local network.
Will the phones work during our flight over, without any sim card - (obviously not for calls or data, but for listening to music, watching preloaded movies or playing games)? I've never done this before, but I assume that all content on the phones (music, movies, apps & associated data) will be preserved - correct? Are there any gotchas I should watch out for around iTunes accounts, Apple IDs, setup, etc.? (my wife is not very good about remembering her itunes password...even at home). Basically, do I just pay for the local micro sim card and voice/data plan upon arrival, pop it in the phone, start it up, and start using it? Or do I need to go through any kind of initialization/reset process? My goal is to just change the phone carrier/phone number, but leave everything else on the phone intact and functional - so it's easily switched back once we get home.
I'll make sure that we've updated our phones and synced them via iTunes before we leave home, but I'm assuming we will not have access to any computer (at least none that I'd want to plug my phone into) while we're traveling. Once we get back home a few weeks later, I'm expecting things to return to normal when we pop our "domestic" sim cards back in - I'll assume we can start using the phones on our existing domestic carrier (with our original phone numbers) without having to jump through any extra hoops - correct? (BTW, no, I don't want to just pay our domestic carrier for a travel voice/data package - not an option for us, thanks; one of the reasons we bought unlocked, no-contract phones was to be able to use them internationally with local sim cards.)

I know this is probably vague since the new iPhone hasn't been released yet, but I would like to buy the iPhone 4 at its release, from AT&T without the contract ($599/$699), because I move to Germany a few weeks later. As far as I know it is still locked to AT&T then. Could you use it with a German sim card. How do I activate or can I avoid an activation and how can I use it in Germany? Do I need to wait for an unlock? I don't want to buy it in Germany because it is far more expensive and I don't want to use it with the standard-iPhone carrier.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my iPhone 3g and am irritated with how slow it's running as I've heard a lot of people are. I've read about downgrading to the old OS but I'm beginning to consider jailbreaking it. I only have a few questions and i was hoping someone would know:
1) I'm planning on spending 6 months in SE Asia toward the end of this year. I'd like my phone to work there if possible. I'll completely admit that I've not researched this topic enough but my general question is, can I jailbreak my phone and then enable it for use in SE Asia, if so how?
2) Would jailbreaking the phone make it more difficult in some way to enable it for use there?
Unintelligible questions I know and I apologize but I have no idea with where to start for all of it.
how is Apple going to expand sales into 17 more countries at the end of this week, but I've ordered my iPhone over a week ago and it still has a ship date of August? Yet, they can sell more phones in other countries...are they just mass producing all these phones the past few weeks and saving them up for the new launch in these other countries and holding out in the U.S.?? Makes me a little upset, I am not an Apple fan and never have been. I have been using Android for quite some time now and never had any issues but I finally decided to make the switch to try something new and yet it gets worse and worse before I can even get my hands on the actual phone!

I spend 1/2 my time in US and 1/2 in Malaysia. I would like to buy an iphone 4S and use the phone with a local carrier in US and Maxis in Malaysia. Can this be done if I buy a factory unlocked phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy cousin just bought an iPhone 4 recently locked to AT&T and is currently living in the Philippines. He told me that if I would ask Apple, I will be able to get the pin to unlock my phone. I will be going to the Philippines as well and I need to get my phone unlocked. He contacted Apple and got the pin and got his iPhone 4 unlocked in minutes. My question is how would I get it?

I'm traveling to Cuba with a group of friends and family. A number of us have blackberries, none of us have full data plans but rather social networking plans (e.g.. BBM, fb, twitter). I'm wondering if we can talk to each other while all being in Cuba without extra costs. Also keeping in mind about the ability to turn off roaming.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4S has been working on and off for as long as I've had it. There are times when I can't make or receive calls or send or receive texts. When I attempt to make a call, it never rings and when I try to end these calls, it doesn't register that the call has ended. People receive these calls but when they answer, there is silence. If people call me, I don't get any notification of this.
When I send texts, the loading bar at the top of the page never reaches the end - the same things happens: people receive the texts but when they reply it never reaches me.I have replaced the phone and it did t make a difference. I am with Vodafone and I'm always in full reception when this happens. When I connect to wifi, the text messages (but not missed calls) come through.

So I can receive texts from everyone in my contacts and who I normally text, but this one girl in my contacts has been telling me she receives my texts but then complains when I dont answer her, but I have not been receiving these texts. So I am curious as to what could be the problem with my Iphone 4? Ive updated it to 5.1 today to see if that was the problem but we are still having issues, and I also checked that she is also using verizon.

I have an iPhone with sprint, and it has worked more than amazingly prior to this. It wasn't until last night around 12am that this started. I have had the phone for 4 to 5 months now. The bars in the top left are flat and occasionally one will pop up. I can t make calls and texts are slow to or just don't send at all. I was messing around on my download app in the browser and it closed and then thu problem arises. I have deleted the app even turned on and off my phone several times and turned airplane mode on and off several times. Please help:/ this is not an issue with location, and everytime I make calls it just says "calling mobile..."

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my Blackberry 9700 since July 2010 with no problem until this past week it has stopped making and receiving phone calls and I can't send or receive SMS. When I try to make a call, it instantly comes up with "Call Failed". I have talked to my carrier (o2) and they too cannot come up with a fix, there is no issue from there part as the sim card works fine on another phone. Strange thing is I can still use the internet on 3G, send and receive emails and my BBM works.
