IPhone :: Syncing 4S Despite Old Still Being Active?
Apr 1, 2012
I've just got a new iPhone 4S and want to sync from the backp I made of my 3GS. However, my old phone is still active as my network provider hasnt yet transferred my phone number to my new simcard. I was wondering if I would be able to sync the new phone using the backup and still be able to use my old phone? Is it possible to have 2 running at once? Also, when the new phone does get activated, will everything work as normal?
I'd like to do it as soon as possible so that when the switchover does happen I can start using the new phone straight away. I use my phone a lot for work so its important it happens as smoothly as possible.
I have an app, Activity Classifier, that uses the handset accelerometers to provide information on activities and total exercise. It automates exercise tracking, classifies activities by type and quantifies aerobic intensity. Live data streamed from an Xperia Arc using the app is displayed in a blog. While it is possible to use on the Active it is unfortunately more difficult on the Active than the Arc because the Active accelerometers have a fault that is hard to get around. The problem is that the accelerometers sometimes take quite a while to start sampling when either started or the sampling frequency is changed.Occasionally it can take longer than 90 seconds. The problem can be seen with the app Accelerometer Frequency. Switch between sampling frequencies and notice that sometimes it switches instantly and sometimes it doesn't. To minimise battery consumption Activity Classifier acquires data from the accelerometers for 6 seconds out of every 30. If no other app is using the accelerometers they will start and stop every sampling period. On the Active they frequently don't start and the app detects a faulty accelerometer. The app has an option to keep accelerometers on and if this is selected it will work OK but battery consumption goes up a lot. The Active comes with a pedometer app called Walkmate. I can see from the Accelerometer Frequency app that Walkmate keeps the acclerometers running at 50 Hz and running Walkmate at the same time as Activity Classifier will make Activity Classifier work OK as well. Walkmate seems pretty power efficient and uses less than half the power of the market leading pedometer app Accupedo, run in power balanced mode, but it counts a different number of steps.
i cant call my phone when my xperia active go to lock screen mode...it looks like i've shut down my phone but i'm not...is any1 here can help me with this matter...i'll already update my phone 2 the latest software update via pc companion....and 1 other Q is y r my xperia active always restart at random period of time
yesterday out of the blue the display on my active stopped working. i connected it to the pc and did a reset/reinstalled the firmware but still no display.i can play music using the original headphones and the headset controls and the home/menu/back buttons light up when i press the unlock key but that's about it.oh yes and i think i managed to unlock the screen even though it was totally back as i could could play/pause music and skip tracks using the screen controls (pressing where i guessed the music controls were).
When I woke up this morning my phone was turned off so I try to turn it on by holding the power button, it only flashes the LED (red) 3 times between short pauses, no vibrations then stays turned off.Next, I tried to plug the charger in then holding the power button. still the same symptoms as above.Lastly, I tried plugging the charger / connector to my laptop then plugging the phone in. When I did that, the red LED shows 1 blink on intervals as opposed from the 3 blinks above.I know I still have my warranty but I want at least try and fix it because I don't like going out on weekends (the days of the week where I get to rest) so I'd rather try a fix here at home.
my very own xperia active get a scratch on its screen. and it new, its 2 weeks after i brought it. Is there any way to replace the front cover on its screen.
I have been with Verizon for almost a year but have very little if any coverage at my house. I have been using a network extender, but was growing impatient with them not upgrading towers in the area, so I jumped over to AT&T to give the iphone another go (tried it about a year ago and didn't like it). I ported my number and all. Well, to make a long story short, the iphone is in my opinion, one of the worst phones on the market, not just because of AT&T's poor 3G issues, but the phone itself is pretty bad too low volume, bad call quality, a horrendous GPS that works when it feels like it. So today, I called and had Verizon port my number BACK. Well my question is if I just keep the iphone to use as a ipod touch so to speak, will it work? Or will it ask me for a valid sim card? I haven't turned it back on again since the re-port but wanted to know the answer first.
Anyone ever do this? I like it as an ipod touch. It's sound quality for listening to music is far better than the ipod touch itself, and don't mind if I have to pay an ETF in order to keep it for this purpose.
I bought an iPhone 4 in VietNam along time ago. I don't know where was it sold and which carrier is it belonged. So i can't active it. Its model is MC319LL/A (I tried to active with an AT&T sim but not success).
i got an iphone 3G as gift, I restored and afterwards, I am stuck on the "No SIM card installed" "Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone." page so I can't use the phone without activating it. I've been searching the web and found a bundle of sources but most of them are really outdated so I'm not sure which ones will work and which ones are patched. I found this: Activate iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G Officially Without Original SIM or Hacktivation with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 & SAM | Redmond Pie does this work?
I bought my iPhone 4 from UK with an Orang contact. now i live in Belgium Unfortunetly i lost my original sim and i restore my iphone now i can not active my iphone without original sim card.
i eased content and setting and now my iphone 3gs wont active it says its unable to active please try again later or connect to itunes but neither of these options work?
My iPhone is regularly making a noise and a vibration, like some update and its driving me crazy. Is there a log to see the activity or somethings I can do to reduce the frequency?Â
Running 7.1 on a 4S. Most notifications are off, but its still a couple times an hour...
It has frequently been said that backgrounded streaming audio apps do not actually remain active in memory, but merely hand over their streaming task to the OS. I, too, thought this was how it worked, but I can now confirm that this is not true. Streaming audio apps run in the background on iOS in a way that is indistinguishable from natively-multitasking apps like iPod
I have a jailbroken 3GS and can verify that both the Pandora and Tunein Radio processes continue to run in the background when closed just like native apps. I have Pandora streaming in the background right now and can tell you that its process is definitely running and is using 16.3 MB of memory. Not only that, but the processes do not close even when the music is paused and the app window is closed. I just stopped playing music in Pandora and closed the Pandora window. It continues to run in the background and is using 15.3 MB of memory. Manually closing the app using the tap hold close method in the multitasking bar does actually close the app.
I suspect that if the OS needs memory it will close such an app. I don't think it really changes how we will interact with our phones, and we shouldn't need to manually close things as long as iOS manages memory effectively. Still, this is not how most of us understoodd the APIs working.
i am just testing this on the domain and i have cofngured my ipad and iphone to download emails from the exchange. I have also installed the MobileAdmin plugin as we have exchange 2003. When i get into the website i can find my devices assinged to my account and i have started a wipe which i am told has been accepted by the device. Now my iPad has a black screen and a busy icon (circle of lines) as if it's doing something, but it's been going for 30minutes so far. How long does it take roughly (iPad2 16gb) Also is there anyway to stop a user from Jailbreaking there company owned iPad apart from contracts and disclaimers etc...
I do not know what I touched and the voice control took over everything I touched was 'read' to me by the voice and I can't type the numbers to unlock my phone(screen).
