IPhone :: Reset Passcode With Itunes?
Mar 14, 2012From browsing the Internet I see a lot of people trying to bypass the iPhone passcode lock. I have a similar but I think unique situation. I had a passcode set on my phone. I couldnt sleep two nights ago and vaguely remember playing with my phone settings. The next morning I went to use my phone and my passcode wouldnt work. With a sinking feeling I remember seeing passcode settings.
Needless to say I entered codes until I got the Connect to Itunes prompt.
Thinking iTune stored multiple backups, I connected my phone and made a backup not realizing I just erased the one from the prior week. So now I can connect to iTunes, tell it to restore, get the Cannot Restore theres a Passcode message, disconnect the cable, reconnect the cable, it syncs for a few seconds, then have access to the Passcode screen for another 10 tries until it locks again and I have to repeat this.
I dont want to reset and lose my data. In iTunes I can see my apps, music and movies. Is there a way iTunes can reset the passcode? I dont want to do the reset/restore for two reasons: 1) everthing I've read says I lose app data if I do that and 2) since I backed up after locking does that restore the forgotten passcode too so I end up in the same boat?

May 19, 2012I am trying to reset my brother's iPhone that he no longer uses. He has upgraded to the iPhone 4. I do not know his passcode. I am unable to reach him to retrieve the passcode. How would I go about resetting the phone? When I try to reset it by holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons, the phone's screen just flashes at me. It does that as well when I try to shut it off.

May 23, 2012I have been using the IPCU for a while now, however we are having more and more iPhones and iPads in the business and we are finding it more difficult to manage. To start with I enable a few security features, ie a passcode that is 6 digits and expires after 30 days. This is set to time out after 5 minutes and also to come into force if the device is switched off. Ok so that doesnt sound too difficult and we have overcome the issue (at our cost) with iPads and iPhones being setup at different times as we need to get the passcodes in synch.
My real problem (well two actually) is that if the person for whatever reason forgets their passcode their seems to be no way of resetting it over the air or with an admin override facility. That mean that they either have to keep guessing until they wipe the device or bring it to HQ to resolve. The second problem is that we are using EAS (exchange active synch) which is great and works well but when the passwords expire on their AD account the push notification then fires up the wrong password notification box and locks out their AD account. I know the easiest way is to not expire passwords but this is a legal requirement.

May 12, 2012Changed my passcode lock from letters back to numbers. I know what numbers i picked for the lock but the phone won't let me in! Tried a number of combinations but none worked! Jul 6, 2010I read on the front page how others were having the proximity issue like I was and that if you did a reset of settings then it could fox it. So I went ahead and did that. I went in and started changing all my settings back and I realized that the only option I had for my passcode was to require it immediately and not after 5 min like I usually do. I've done some searching and saw that a google or exchange account could cause this. But I only have mobile me.So that can't be it. The only other option I've seen is to do a complete restore.Whig I'd really like to stay away from. Does anyone have any ideas?
