My wife was helping me this morning and in the process she deleted ALL of my phonebook entries on my iPhone. A sync between the iPhone and MacBook has occurred since then, which of course makes matters worse. If I restore my MacBook from yesterday's Time Machine backup and then do a restore on my iPhone (which will use the backup file created before all of my data was deleted) will this restore my phonebook entries?
My IPhone 4 connected to my mac today. Took a call, then looked through my phone and all the phone numbers have lost there contact name details. It seems that the problem is related to Sync as my contacts are located via microsoft outlook. But sync details are turned on and they are not syncing. Have backed up office 2011 and reinstalled fresh, and still not syncing is happening. So that would say that this is not an office related software issue. I'm lost to backup all and start from scratch.
after downloading 5.0 i lost all my info-apps,phone numbers-e-mails. everything. verizon told me today that i needed to upgrade but never told you may loose your info if you are not careful with?
My phone went missing and I decided to get something different. Is there any way to get the phone numbers and anything else that is in my last sync without having my phone?
I turned on the "contacts" feature in the iCloud menu in settings on my iPhone4. I ended up with a lot useless email addresses from my yahoo contact list that was cluttering up my phone contacts (actual phone numbers.) I thought I could undo this by turning off the contacts feature in iCloud. Instead, it wiped ALL of my phone number information in contacts, and left me with just the list of my email addresses, which I don't need. I am desperate to recover all those phone numbers!
I just lost some of my contact names while texting. Some are still there while others show just their numbers now and not their names anymore. What's up with that? I did a hard reset And it still didn't fix the problem. It's been updated and also sync.Texting and contacts
After a hard reset of my N8 I tried to restore my contacts from OVI Sync. But for some strange reason contacts that have only "Phone (work)" as a number loose the number (all other details are restored). But they end up without any phone number Contact that have additional info (like "Mobile phone") don't loose the "Phone (work)". Also some of the "standard" settings are lost (as they are when syncing with OVI Suite).Very annoying since you then have to choose number or address when calling/smsing.
I have recently updated my device software. I did not backup anything because I did not have any warning from maker to do so. I lost extremely important text messages, phone numbers, my calendar information. Is there any chance on this world to retrieve now all of them?
Can i retrive my phone contacts from a broken phone ( The phones just been run over by a car!) Sim card looks OK, but does it still have my phone contact numbers?
My iPhone keeps deleting numbers. I don't synch it to anything. This morning I was texting a friend on the bus and 10 minutes later her name disappeared. I am constantly having to re-input names and numbers.
i got my new micro-sim from O2 and want to setup my new sim card. I want to know how do i take the contacts stored on my sim and put them onto my new sim card so that i can still use my new micro-sim with an adapter in other phones and still have my contacts with me!?
I know itunes will prob sync contacts to my new iPhone 4 but want to have them on my sim. Just afraid that when i activate micro-sim and the other one is dead then i will lose all my sim saved numbers.
Basically i want all my numbers to be on my new sim card so that when i go out i can take my card out of my iPhone and into my spaer w800i phone and still have all my contacts phone numbers rather than a blank sim..please help as i'm sure others may want to know the same.
On the home landline we are able to register our telephone number so that the nuisance / cold calling sales calls can be blocked. Does anyone know of anything similar for mobiles or if there is an App that blocks certain numbers?
I've never been bothered by these calls before but a couple of particular numbers are now texting & calling trying to sell PPI etc.
I need to change the phone number format. Changing regional settings and international settings has no effect. The format is always xx xx xx xx xx and I need xxxxxxxxxx.
I have read about duplicating contacts, but that is not my main problem. My problem is that instead of one phone number for any given contact, there may be up to 30 of the same phone number! If there is a cell and home, both will be duplicated. What a pain! I do use mobileme but have not started on the cloud yet. Any ideas how this can happen? I showed them my iphone 4 (IOS 5.1.1) at the Verizon store and the rep said she never saw anything like that before. I live two hours from the nearest apple store.
I have searched internet including Apple Communities to find out why the phone numbers in the Address Book won't sync with iPhone 4S Contacts. All email addresses, etc. have transferred but not phone numbers. I have tried clearing the Sync history via Preferences but that did not work. I am using USB cable and Wifi syncing through iTunes.
I am trying to activate a used iphone 4, but it wont let me switch numbers. The number pops up in grey writing and doesn't give me an option to change it. what do i do?
I had to reset my phone this weekend and lost all of my text messages due to not backing up to icloud for an extended period of time. I'm attempting to get my contacts back in order and have been using my AT&T detailed bill to get some old numbers but the phone numbers associated with text messages sent via imessage are not showing up. Is there any way to retreive those numbers?
Proud user of apple devices for around 5 years, last week my iPhone 5s was not able to deliver an iMessage to an iPhone 5c, so it went as regular SMS text; and when I got a reply, it arrived from the iCloud id. Then, the exact same thing happened on Saturday with another friend using an iPhone 4 (no 4s).
Researching on internet, I read something that people have problem to activate the iMessage from their number and it appears grayed out in the settings, so they cannot select it.... I am able to send iMessages to other iPhones, but I still looked in my settings and my number is grayed out and I CANNOT deselect it (the opposite of what I read), so I still went through the solution proposed where I reset the network settings on my iPhone to factory. I not only lost all the passwords to the WiFi I had, but it didn't solve the issue.
I can not send iMessages to two contacts using their numbers. Additionally, the message history now is split in two in my device -which doesn't make sense as the number and iCloud id belong to the same person; doesn't it make sense that the history merge onto one contact name? It sure displays the name, not the id (phone number or iCloud address).
I assume this is a big flaw of iOS 8.1.1 as iMessages never failed this way for me, or at least that a good reset of the phone wouldn't fix. I found extremely ridiculous that now Apple says the solution is to jump through hoops and loops for a temporal solution. I still think Apple systems are more stable and reliable than the others; but I don't want to see the company start to conform with 'good for now' or 'good enough' operating systems.
PS My friend's iPhone 5s have problems to maintain wireless connections to play music in his own house, while the Apple computer works without issue.Â
Apple... are we going to get an new iOS for our phones to fix iMessages across devices?
Is there a way to stop iPhone from creating parentheses, spaces and dashes in phone numbers? I want to create all phone numbers as just a string of numbers with no formatting for each country, just a plus sign (for international calling prefix) at the beginning. It seems that editing out the punctuation in Address Book or or the iPhone has no effect. I've tried reformatting numbers manually in Address Book in my MBP but then, after I sync again, in iPhone they've automatically acquired punctuation and formatting again. I then setup formatting in Address Book prefs to a 'Custom' setting - a plain simple string of numbers with a + sign in front. But it seems to have no effect once the numbers are in the iPhone. I've tried editing those numbers in iPhone. I delete, say, a dash or a space and it automatically adds the dash or space again when I've finished and press "Done" to save it. I've even tried deleting and re-creating (in Address Book) some of the problem contacts as new contacts, hoping my custom-formatting setting in Address Book prefs would stick, but it still turns into formatted numbers in the iPhone. I tried turning off International Assist in iPhone settings but to no avail.

My new iPhone 4S did not syncronize the phone numbers from the backup in iTunes of my former iPhone 1. What can I do to get my phone numbers on my new iPhone?
