IPhone :: Location Links From Android Phone Not Working On 4?
Apr 22, 2012
When my Android friend "shares a location" with me from his Android 2.2 phone, his link looks like this [URL] but it doesn't work in Maps on my iPhone 4.
I was prompted to update my MotoX yesterday 12/09/15 and wow - what a pain! The home button no longer works to go home and has another completely useless function (Now on Tap?) when it is long held. Might have value for some people but I just want the home button to take me home. I can't find anywhere how to disable or reprogram it.
Also NONE of the external links are working in any of my email programs or Facebook. When I tap on them, most of them open up Chrome but don't actually go to the correct website - Chrome opens to the Google search or the last webpage I was viewing. Copy and paste does work when the website address is there but links from facebook aren't able to be copied.
I have cleared the cache in Recovery mode to no effect. Multiple reboots have not corrected anything. Uninstalling email programs and reinstalling them also did not work.
I have just bough an HTC Sensation, signed up for HTC Sense all seems to be working except 'Device location' says device finder is off - well, it isn't off, its on, but no matter what I do the location does not register. I have seen other posts saying that this feature is generally not working. Is this still the case or does it depend where you are?
For the last few weeks my GPS has been basically useless. Sometimes if I let it sit and hunt for 30 minutes it finally picks something up. This means it's very hard to use Google Navigator or RunTracks. MapMyRun would sometimes get a lock after letting it hunt for half an hour. Letting my phone sit to do that just drains the battery though. My phone has the latest updates. I used an app to see how many satellites it "sees", and it finds about 7 or so but doesn't recieve any positioning info from them. I've tried turning location services on/off and rebooting the phone. Tried the same thing plus also removing the battery.
I misplaced my phone (LG G3) on 06/28, and the battery level was very low the last time I had it, so it surely powered down shortly after I lost it. I have been checking Android Device Manager periodically in case it is powered on, and the last search showed that the phone is currently unavailable, but the last online date changed to 07/01...it doesn't say where the phone was when it was powered on on this date though, so I am wondering if there is a way to find this out.
Recently, a friend lost a phone. Apparently, it was turned off after being found. When going to Android Device Manager, it only indicated that it couldn't locate the phone. I thought that it would show its last known location, but it did not. Shouldn't it?
i just switched from using android for 2 years and i'm ready to throw this thing in the effing trash after a day...when i first open a browser, the links work fine..maybe the first link or so...then they just stop working...when i click on a link it does nothing..i have to hold it until the menu pops up that says "open link" to get it to open...i googled this and lots of other people reported this problem and the only solutions seem to be remove the battery or reset device.
I have a Verizon Xoom running 3.2, and since the update it appers as though I cannot open a link to a web page, or a document from a file browser (File Manager HD and ES File Explorer) or a link from Newsr feed reader. when I click on a link, the screen darkens a bit as if transitioning, but then nothing happens.
is there an app that will fake your location that is working on iphone 4? i tried fakelocation and it seemed to initially work but after i set a location...if i go back in the app is just a blank white screen and unresponsive. my springboard also crashed once since installing it. so i uninstalled.i'm looking to get around the blackout restrictions on mlb tv.
My iPhone 3GS is telling me location services are off. When I go into settings it says it is on, but it is not responding, i.e. I can't change it from on to off.
Did a clean install of iOS 5.1.1 on my 4S. Everything worked great until I restarted my device. Apart from Find My iPhone not working, Maps and Compass are unable to find my location. Error message 'Cannot Determine Location' being displayed and the pink icon in the status bar does not appear. It works fine for Camera, Twitter and Siri though.
i've never got to make location based reminders to work on my iPhone 5s on iOS 8. It did not work either on iOS 7 and ir surely didn't on my old iOS6 iPhone 4. i have everything turned on under location services ..
Very recently icons for applications began appearing on my phone. When I click on them it takes me to a screen where I can choose to download the actual application. I want to get rid of these for good. Any one have any ideas?I have tried removing them from the service book only to have them reappear on my phone. I can't delete them from applications because they aren't actual applications only links to get the application. So far flicker, bing, my space, social beat, slacker radio, NFL mobile, skype, back up assistant, and my verizon have all spontaneously appeared on my phone. If I wanted them, I would have downloaded them myself.
Various apps that I allow to use my current location very, VERY often report me being in the wrong place when at my house. I have wifi in my house so I'm obviously not going to use 3G.And when I say wrong, I don't mean like right up the street. I mean like 2 miles away across town. Anything I can do to fix that?
I was previously in a group iMessage with two other iPhone users. One of the users recently got an android phone and now our group thread is having issues. We all need to send texts only but the iMessage is all the two iPhone users can send. We tried turning off out iMessage in the settings section but this was a short term solution. I have been in previous group messages with android users and it has worked however when we attempt to create a new chat window it automatically goes into iMessage.
I don't have an unlimited data plan, so when I use my phone while traveling, every time I look on Google maps- or any other location-based app for that matter- it's using up my data plan and costing me money. I think it's stupid that Apple has tied the built-in gps inextricably to the data service- they could at least let the gps operate in a reduced capacity when data is unavailable. What is one supposed to do if one lives in or travels to a location with limited data network availability? At any rate, this is the world we live in, so my question is this: if I get an external gps receiver, and turn off my data service, will my phone be able to extract and use my location from the device?
Fully updated software,Maps and Drive work fine - no probs at all. When I first added the "my location" widget worked fine - great idea - useful for quickly bookmarking a location. But now it won't update, just stays blank, or says can't find location, and when I go to maps, it finds me immediately.I can't find any setting for the widget
I love the idea of smart actions, but I constantly seem to have issues. I always have problems here and there with smart actions on the GB software, but I recently upgraded to ICS and I was hoping it would be improved. I see there is now an option to allow the phone to detect its location without needing wifi which is nice, but I still cant get it to work.
I have a "Work" smart action set up, but even right at this very moment I am at home and it thinks I am at work. I am even connected to my home wifi on the phone, still thinks I am at work. So I manually shut off the work smart action, and then re-enabled it. A second later it pops up that I am at work again. I open up the "Map" App and it shows me at home, why in the world would it think I am still at work.
I have noticed that the searching location comes on and stays on even when location is turned off the only way I can stop is by turning location on then back of again. How do I fix that?
I'm working on updating this symbaloo webmix on the iphone 4. It has a great group of links regarding it already, but I think it needs a few more to be what I hope it can be which is a great overall resource for the phone. My idea is that it can help people learn more about the phone, and also have a useful compilation of links that they can share with others. Here's the link to what I have so far http://bit.ly/cSxAsw
Let me know what you guys think and also don't forget to press "add it" after viewing the page to get all my updates automatically
