IPhone :: Just Got New Macbook Pro / How Do I Remain Jailbroken?
May 23, 2010
I just got a new macbook pro and all my files were on my old computer. I only backed my computer up using time machine, but I don't want to sync my iphone to my new itunes and lose my jailbreak. Is that even possible?
If so, what do I need to do to retain my jailbreak?
I hope I am not contravening any rules in place, if I am please feel free to delete this thread.I have jailbroken my iPhone and spent an age downloading big games from installous, so I was thinking there must be an easier way to get big apps by downloading online and then transferring to itunes and then sync with the iPhone. Is there an online repository somewhere for computers? What is the best place to download apps online?
Also I downloaded 95% of real racing before my wi-fi cut out and the download simply disappeared, is there any way to get it back at 95% or remove the 180ish mb's from the phone? I can't find it anywhere on installous or the iPhone.
My iphone is now ios 5.1.1. This is what happen with me today.
When my Battery used until 25% it automatically shutdown. I tried to turn it back on but it shows up that i have no battery so i recharge it and again when it reached 25% it shutdown.
It has frequently been said that backgrounded streaming audio apps do not actually remain active in memory, but merely hand over their streaming task to the OS. I, too, thought this was how it worked, but I can now confirm that this is not true. Streaming audio apps run in the background on iOS in a way that is indistinguishable from natively-multitasking apps like iPod
I have a jailbroken 3GS and can verify that both the Pandora and Tunein Radio processes continue to run in the background when closed just like native apps. I have Pandora streaming in the background right now and can tell you that its process is definitely running and is using 16.3 MB of memory. Not only that, but the processes do not close even when the music is paused and the app window is closed. I just stopped playing music in Pandora and closed the Pandora window. It continues to run in the background and is using 15.3 MB of memory. Manually closing the app using the tap hold close method in the multitasking bar does actually close the app.
I suspect that if the OS needs memory it will close such an app. I don't think it really changes how we will interact with our phones, and we shouldn't need to manually close things as long as iOS manages memory effectively. Still, this is not how most of us understoodd the APIs working.
after removing my tmobile sim and placing it in again my 3GS wont recognize my sim. it says NO Sim card. whats the deal with this? what do I do to fix the situation? I jailbroke with blackra1n
I have the most current iPhone OS and I want to jailbreak it to be able to tether to my iPad for 3G service since my iPad is only wifi. I have looked on internet amd most sites claim current iPhone OS cannot be jailbroken. Is this true and if not, how do I jailbreak mine.
A co worker of mine racked up 2 gigs of data 2 months ago and burned through a blistering 8.6 gigs of data this past month. All of this on his 3Gs and none of it done by tethering with a jailbroken iPhone. He "claims" that he has no clue how it happened but I'm guessing he knows. How many video clips of wholesome family entertainment would he have to download to hit that impossible number. I nearly myself when I saw the bill.
My idiot ex (a supervisor on the apple care line!) jaibroke my phone and I hate it. It won't even turn on, now, it's stuck in recovery mode. How do I fix this? I'm trying to make it work through iTunes but I get error 1601. He used something called Red Snow, if that helps. I'm absolutely sick right now. I never once wanted this thing jailbroken, nevermind absolutely broken. Especially by an Apple employee.
A friend of mine jailbroke my phone, and I absolutely hate it. I've tried multipe time to reset all and restore it from the phone. Every time I do so, my phone stays on this black screen with a spinning wheel. It never goes away. I can't restore my phone from iTunes, because I use an Internet card and the download to update my phone before restoring, is too big. What can I do?!?!!
I jailbroke my 3.1.2 3GS via BlackRa1n last night. I saw this AM there is a new iTunes ver 9.0.3. Do the JB iPhone and the new iTunes play nice together? Just wanted to make sure before I upgraded iTunes.
This may be a problem covered in a few places already, but I feel like I'm going crazy trying to find up to date answers to my questions, since it feels like the software is constantly changing. So I jailbroke a 3G 3.0 iphone that belonged to a friend. I had some battery problems so decided to update it to 3.1.2. So I downloaded the ipsw for this and the pwnage tool. I went through the steps and went into DFU mode, was prompted to go to itunes and restore with my costume ipsw. I did this, but can't use the 'shift-restore' trick to select the update. Now I'm stuck in recovery/DFU mode (not sure which) and can't even restore to 3.1.3 because I unlocked the phone and don't have the original sim. All I want is to get my phone back up and running on a 3.1.x OS.
So I lost my iphone sunday and am getting one from a friend tonight. My 3G was extremely customized with lockinfo and categories and categoriesSB, etc.If I jailbreak this new 3G, and restore from that backup, what exactly will happen if I have nothing installed?I know its best to start completely fresh after a JB, but I have some savedata I dont want to lose for the 2nd time.Would all my apps go back on the phone but in completely random places?Would my backup install mobilesubstrate addons without me doing it manually in Cydia?
So my iphone seems to be stuck in a reboot loop it'll display the apply logo, then the apple and a loading circle and then it shuts off briefly and starts the entire loop again. It keeps doing it until the battery dies or until I shut it off. I've put the phone into DFU mode and restored three times and I still have the same issue?
Yesterday I locked it during a meeting, and it froze shortly after I unlocked it a few hours later. None of the buttons would respond, so I decided to try the hard reset of holding the power and start buttons together for 10 seconds. It turned the phone off, but it will not reboot.
Instead, when the phone is plugged in or reset, I get the Apple logo, followed about 2-3 minutes later by the time circle which freezes as soon as it appears. The phone stays this way for 10 minutes or so, until it resets itself with a black screen, followed by a red bar battery symbol, and then the Apple logo followed by the frozen time circle.
I have tried all of the standard reset strategies (pressing both buttons, tethering while the computer reboots, holding the start button while it is plugged in, all with and without the sim installed) and nothing has gotten it beyond the loop.
The phone will go into DFU mode, but I am worried about a system restore as I am under the impression that even if it works, it will mess up my ability to re-Jailbreak it as it will upgrade the firmware to the latest version (which I have been scrupulously avoiding until now). Maybe at this point there is nothing to lose though.
I have an Apple store nearby, but I am reluctant to take it there due to the Jailbreak (although I don't know how they would know given the state that the phone is in). I would also hate to have them replace the phone with a replacement that has the new bootrom that can't be jailbroken (or have they now managed to jailbreak these too?).
So I needed to restore my iphone from a backup because when I tried syncing an app I got an error then everytime I connected my phone to itunes it was asking to either restore from backup or setup as new device and I restored from backup.Just wanted to know if my iphone is still jailbroken after restoring from a backup because I still have Cydia and the other stuff.
I would like to know how I can update my jailbroken iPhone to ios4.... I want to be able to keep all my texts, and my notes too.... Along with everything else on my iPhone. Do I just go into iTunes and press update?
Has anyone figured out a way yet to copy contacts TO your sim card from the iPhone? I have a jailbroken 2G and need to do this. Backing up my contacts to the computer does me no good as my new cell phone is just a cheap Nokia that cannot connect to the PC.
New to jailbreaking here. I currently have a jailbroken iphone 3gs / ios 4.0.1. I submitted the shsh blobs to comex's server. Question is... what do i do when apple releases a firmware upgrade to 4.1? I know I should wait till a jailbreak is ready for it, but how does this process go on? Should you upgrade it via iTunes or restore it and then upgrade? What happens to all those cydia apps i installed on my phone?
I restored my phone and jailbroke it and when I go to Cydia to install my apps cydia says I already have them on but I cant see any of them.Any ideas how to get them back or visible?
Recently, my unlocked jailbroken iPhone 3GS kept on shutting off out of the blue, and did so on a pretty regular basis (I only let this happen for a day or so before I took action, did research, and fixed it). It would say there was 37% of the battery power left, then 5%, then 17%, and then it would shut off. It was as if it didn't remember how much of the battery was left. Never had that happen before.
I did some research online and talked to some guys at Fry's. Some people online said it might be because it got wet or that it just needed to be re-jailbroken. The guy at Fry's suggested that I re-jailbreak it. I didn't really care to do that, as I am running 3.0.1, and did not want to go through the hassle if finding the new jailbreak for the latest version of the OS. Plus, I either want to wait for OS 4.0 to come out (hopefully June 7 at WWDC) and jailbreak that when it comes out, or if Steve Jobs rocks our world and releases the iPhone 4G at WWDC, then I'll buy that.
