I have a 3gs and very happy with it. Is there any major advantage or benefit to upgrade to a iPhone 4? Or should I just wait until next summer for the next iPhone?

Kies tells me I have a firmware upgrade - from the size of download it seems quite major - but it won't install.Initially I found Norton was blocking it and quite proudly telling me so. I ended up uninstalling Norton but having gone through all the steps and downloading the files my PC does not get past 0% on "Firmware upgrade progress" and the mobile just displays a little green android with the message "Downloading . . . Do not turn off target".

my 5630 does still have firmware version 11-something, but I heard that 13-whatever is current. I cannot find release notes or any description of the changes. Where can I find this information? The firmware update costs and I want to be sure, that it is useful to me.

But now it's clearly not working as it should.In the past 2 weeks it's been very unstable and been crashing a lot. It took a while until I realized it was the summer heat that caused it, but it's impossible to use the phone outdoors on a warm sunny day or on the upper floor of my house (where it gets very warm), while it works fine down in the basement where it's cool.I think it's a major design flaw of the E52 and now I'm curious how common this issue is, have anyone else had this overheating issue?

With froyo, it was instant, now I have to wait 10 mins to close to an hour to receive the email notification. Even if I go into the gmail app and push 'refresh', it does nothing.

Only to discover that my C7 slows down to a crawl when the phone check for email or is busy accessing the internet. Also I have noticed that the sleeping screen application seems to be completely out of sync. When I press the menu button it takes a minute or so for sleeping screen to respond and then I have to wait a minute or some until the unlock responds on the device.

Battery draining @ drastic rate ever since I started using the great Xperia mini pro. Hardly a backup of 13 hours.Even tried to turn off 'accounts & sync' but no help.
When my turbo is paired to a device and either streaming or just playing music or video it becomes extremely laggy. To the point where it freezes and will not work. Often times this happens while simultaneously charging the phone but its not exclusive to that criteria. It's done it while off charger as well. Is this a heat issue? Too many things going on at once?

When the phone doesn't have a good signal or is trying to pick between wifi & cellular, my Turbo lags & temporarily freezes. I just have to wait a good 30 seconds or so for it to free up. This happens constantly. It's gotten much worse lately.

My current situation:
I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?

I want to upgrade to something above 4.0. now I know in 4.0 or newer you can turn off cellular data but does that do the same thing as the profile. I have on my phone that disables the data? So, I'm trying to find out if there is anyway to restore the iphone to 3.1.2, without losing the unlock. His SHSH are saved on cydia.I am with AT&T so when I upgraded to 3.1.3, and downgraded to 3.1.2 I didn't need an unlock. So I think the process would be different, right?Or is it as easy as doing a shift+restore through iTunes with the modded Hosts file? Or will that mess with any of the unlock?

View 24 Replies View RelatedFeels the same due to weight, even though it's 24% smaller width. I thought I liked the design of my old 3G, but the new iPhone 4 is a beauty. Biggest complaint with the 3G was the amount of time it took to load apps, just horrendous. Everything on the 4G is just faster and snappier within micro-seconds. HD Video cam, haven't used it much yet but can see myself using it often vs. not having one on the 3G. Photos, awesome as always and the LED flash will help out a ton.
In summary, after the excitement of opening the package and being among the 600k that "got it first" I can't say I'm too much impressed. Definitely something I wouldn't wait in line for more than 1 hour, much less camp out for.
I recently purchased an IPhone 3gs with new At&t service and now I'm hearing so much about the new one coming out in the summer. I understand that 3g and 3gs owners will be able to upgrade to 4.0 whenever it comes out. Would you say it's coming next week when apple has their conference, or would we have to wait a little while? Also, I don't even know how upgrades work for at&t, so how would I upgrade to the new IPhone if I just got the 3gs?
