I called Sprint earlier and asked them to unlock the GSM portion of my 4S. I told them I will be doing extensive traveling for a while and I don't want to pay roaming. I am a customer of good standing, but I thought they'd put up a lot of resistance. Lo and behold, when I called in, the girl checked for me and told me that my phone has been unlocked all along. Even though that was the first time I called in.
(I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I got my phone the day of the launch at an Apple Store. Rumors on the Internet said that the first batch of Sprint iPhones were accidentally unlocked. But I thought that would have been re-locked durning software update or something. Besides, I have dropped my phone recently and replaced with a new one through AppleCare +. So I'm baffled as to how this phone has been unlocked all along.)
Anyway, back to my point. I want to bring the phone to the UK and use a local sim card. Is there anyway I can tell if the phone is indeed unlocked? Can i tell from itunes or somethng? I don't want to bring it there only to find it still locked. I'd rather buy a cheap pay-as-you-go phone locally and not bring a locked iPhone with me. I plan on doing everything above the board. No jailbreakng.
I bought an iPhone 4s, and I was just wondering if I were to get it unlocked from Sprint, terminate my contract, can I use the same iPhone on a network such as Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile? Just curious, honestly.
but yet even Googling this yields no real answers to the question--just conjecture by fake "news" sites that regurgitate facts from Endgadget. If the iPhone 4S truly works with either/or; why can you not use it with either/or?
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 with a Bad Sprint ESN. As I'm sure you know, this phone has a SIM card slot. I know these phones can be unlocked for use on GSM networks using programs like RhodiumW.Does it matter that this phone has a Bad ESN? Would this prevent me from unlocking this phone and using it on a GSM network (T-Mobile, AT&T)?
I have just brought back a unlocked 9930 from USA, when I put my South African Vodacom SIM card in I can make calls and send sms's but the phone is not registering on the vodacom data network for BIS even though I have BIS activated on my contract. After some some research and troubleshooting I realized that there is no settings under HOST ROUTING TABLE and I think this might be the issue , I have tried registering the phone but dont get a response from any vodacom or blackberry server.
I need to have a Sprint BB Style 9670 unlocked to use on Canadian CDMA networks. It doesn't have a SIM card. Anyone have this problem or can point me to the proper way to unlock it? I chatted with Sprint but they don't want to do anything.
after arguing with sprint for hours and trying to "legally" get PAM added to my account with no avail, i got tired of arguing and hung up and decided to see if i could get around it on a BB while still having a decent plan.well you can.
These instructions are at your own risk, and while i was able to do it to both a curve and a pearl, and im assuming since all BB's are about the same it should work on the tour and 8830, it's at your own risk.
I am not posting this from my normal username, as it's a little risky for me to do so so please know that i've had plenty of posts on here and been around since '04 Ok so here goes.Step 1: Install QPST 2.7 build 215 (this is very important, no other one will work, find it yourself )
Step 2: Obtain your MSL/SPC from Sprint (if you dont already have it)Step 3: Get your PowerVision Username (if you dont know it, you can do ##xxxxxx and press call from the homescreen x=msl/spc, it's the [URL] in the list)Step 4: Start BBDM and QPST Configuration at the same time, then once you add the port to QPST, selct "Service Programming" from the drop down menu.
Step 5: Select your phone in the list, dont worry it will act like it doesnt know the chipset model, select SURF6300 BB from the list and say OK
Step 6: go to the MIP tab Step 7: Create a new MIP profile that looks just like this (except in the NAI and Tethered NAI, you'll enter your PV username) -- once you're done you will have two profiles, the first one im assuming is for provisioning and i wouldnt mess with it.
Step 8: click "OK" then "write to phone", it will give an error about the model changing on com X, do you want to close the connection?, say NO it will write anyway, then you will get another error about the phone not responding.. that's because it rebooted.Step 9: once the phone reboots, create a manual DUN connection (i assume if you're on here and understand how to use PST you can make a DUN connection ) with the connection as follows:
Phone number: #777 Username/password fields are blank..
So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions: -will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...? -otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?
Spoken by Apple Store Genius Bar employee directly to a customer in Jacksonville, FL. In a location which, ironically, is covered by Sprint 4G. Surely Apple doesn't need to misrepresent the competition?
I have a pawn shop that called me and asked me if there's anyway to deactive a used iPhone 4s so they can resell. The Pawn shop is required to hold all products for at least 15 days for police to evaluate and see if it's been reported stolen. They've gone through this process and have tried contacting the seller to deactivate his account (which he apparently forgot to or didn't know he had to). Is there any way I can clear phone to be used as a fresh new device?
I have an iPhone 4S on Sprint. My experience with the phone has been mixed. At first, the phone kept turning on and off, but all I had to do was have it replaced. Now, my new iPhone doesn't connect to the Sprint network, even when it records two bars and 3G connection. I am in my office, but everyone else on Sprint has great service.
The day after I got my phone, a tower went down near my house. I called Sprint, and they said it would be fixed the day after my 14-day warranty expired.
I have tried resetting the network settings, dialing ##873283# over Wi-Fi and 3G, and resetting the phone. Nothing works. As I said before, all the other people here have great service. They all have either AT&T or Sprint, and almost all of them have an iPhone.
So, I have an iPhone 4, and I've recently seen that the only phisical difference between the iPhone 4 and the 4S is that the 4S has two antenas (one black line in each corner of the phone) and the 4 has only one (one black line in each of the bottom corners of the phone only). But I have a 4, and it seems to have two antennas. So, what's up with that?
When I send SMS to some people in my contacts, they report that they will recieve the main message, and one more message after that with the last word from the main message. Example: If I send the message: Hey how's it going dude? Wanna meet up for some some drinks and get crazy?
The message will arrive like this:
(Message 1)
Hey how's it going dude? Wanna meet up for some some drinks and get
(Message 2)
crazy?
The messages I send are usually well under the 160 character limit for CDMA networks. as anyone else experienced this? I called Sprint and they said they know nothing of it, and that I should contact Apple about it. Possibly a phone reset might fix it I think, but just curious if anyone else has had this happen. Most people don't care, but a few of my friends don't have unlimited SMS or are on pre-paid plans.
what is the different between iphone4 AT&T, sprint and verizon? does verizon is CDMA? does CDMA have a slot sim card? what is the version for iphone 4s AT&T? 5.0.1 or 5.1?
I recently bought a new, white, iPhone 4 from Sprint. It came with iOS 5.1. Is there any way I can install a previous version? If so, what's the lowest I can downgrade to?
I have a iPhone4S through Sprint, US carrier. I was having some difficulties with an enterprise application and my IT staff full reset my phone after backing it up to my MacBook Pro. Unfirtunately for the past 2 hours it would seem, I am unable to activate my phone after full reset. I have tried "Activating through iTunes" and I have tried activating over WiFi, both attach and unattached to my MacBook. Every scenario results in the same error on my phone, reading:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes."
Well I have been trying again for more than a couple of minutes. Is the activation server truly down? Or is this on my end. Any assistance in troubelshooting. I had just recently updated over the air to 5.1.1 prior to the backup.
It's sure that you can't jailbreak an IPhone to work on Sprint or Verizon. I do have an IPod touch and the Samsung Instinct for sprint, but it would be really nice if I could just have them all in one.
I have a sprint iPhone 4 that I just got a few days ago. Sometimes when I send an SMS it splits it and sends it as two separate messages even if the message is less than 160 characters.
I bought a Sprint iphone 4 from someone who had deactivated due to he couldnt afford the extra data package; therefore the ESN is bad and not free and clear. I have a 12yr old son with Down Syndrome who had played with his sisters ipod touch and I thought we might be able to get him to like this one instead. When I showed him the Angry Birds game, to our astonishment, he took to it immediately. It is the first time he's ever played, and completed any game, ever. Needles to say what I bought for parts(I have a cell phone repair business) has now become his phone. Usually in these cases I do a complete reset, but instead, I have deleted all the prior owners personal information and reset up the wifi and my email info.
The problem I'm having is getting Facetime to work on this used iphone 4. Another daughter is away at college, has an iphone 4 with AT&T, and we would love for our son to be able to talk to the sister he misses so much. I have set up an account in Apple, followed all the instructions, and it never gets past the "Verifying"message then "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on Facetime to try again." We are utilizing Wifi and have a good strong connection, because I can surf the net and get into my AOL account.
this is really more of a question for sprint than for apple. but i'm asking here to see if others have the same issue.is it just me, or are others on sprint service experiencing slow video performance (from Internet, facebook, or any video streaming app)? both with and without wi-fi. after resetting network connection, it was better for rest of the day, then right back to slow and resetting
