IPhone :: Daylight Savings Affecting Reminders/alarms On 4 Calendar?
Mar 15, 2012
I've seen numerous posts about daylight savings affecting the time on the iphone, but haven't seen any responses to this particular question yet. Since daylight savings went into effect last weekend, my reminders are going off an hour early, even though the time on my iphone shows the current, proper time. My phone says it is 8:00 AM (CST). However, an alarm that I set for 8am went off at 7am this morning.
My s5 sometimes shows the right time and sometimes doesn't following Daylight Savings (sometimes it's an hour off). I keep having to restart the device, which fixes things in the short term. But, my alarms go off and then go off again an hour later. This is getting really tiresome! It's set to auto date/time/time zone, so I don't understand why it keeps showing the wrong time.
I picked up this 'gem' from Moto's Facebook: Heads up for Daylight Savings Time ending tomorrow: Any users with Motorola smartphones running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) who experience shorter battery life or longer charging times when Daylight Savings Time ends tomorrow (Sunday) can reboot their devices to fix the issue.
Iwhere we do not observe Daylight Savings Time. When I set Settings -> Date & Time to "Automatic", all appointments after Daylight Savings Time starts, get set 1 hour too late. When I uncheck Automatic and manually set my time zone to Hawaii, the appointments get reset to the correct hour.
BUT will my S2 automatically change time at 2am? I need to know for sure because I have to get up for work at 6. I dont remember last year with my S1 if it automatically did.
We had our Fall time change Saturday, and my HTC One M8 failed to adjust for daylight savings. Well, parts of it failed.
The small time display next to the battery meter is correct.
The large time display in the Sense 6 widget is one hour ahead. When the screen is locked, the time is displayed correctly, but when the phone is unlocked, the time is displayed one hour ahead. They're probably two separate widgets? Tap the Sense 6 widget, and the local time on the world clock page is also one hour ahead.
Any way to get the Sense 6 widget to display the correct time?
1) I cannot stop the alarms or reminders when phone is in lock state: When the handset is locked and I get a reminder tone for alarm/reminders, then the STOP and SNOOZE buttons on the screen are disabled. I have to snooze the alarm by pressing the red button on the handset, then unlock the mobile and wait for snooze time (also ensure that mobile is unlocked), and then press the STOP button on the screen. This is creating huge problem, because to stop any alarm or reminder, I have to wait till the snooze time with mobile unlocked.
2) Cannot turn my phone to silence during incoming call when mobile is in lock state: When I receive any call and if the mobile is in locked mode, I cannot make(rather silence button on screen is disabled) the ringing to silent. If the mobile is in unlocked mode, then any incoming call can be made silent by pressing the silence button on the screen. Again here i need to ensure that phone is in unlock state or use the start/stop button on the side of teh phone.......
I recently travelled to Melbourne from Perth with my fancy new N97, after successfully syncing my Outlook calendar etc from my laptop to the N97 using Ovi Suite (which I agree is not as good as the old PC Suite). Time zone change has caused me a few problems, as the automatic update of the time when I arrived in Melbourne didn't take daylight saving into account, so the alarm went off an hour late etc, and so I had to manually adjust the clock. Funny that now the world clock on my phone is out by an hour now that I have arrived back in Perth. So predictably, the calendar entries now that I'm back in Perth are an hour out.
Any easy ways of updating the world clock settings so that Perth (GMT+8hrs) actually reflects what the time is so that the calendar will sync? At the moment the N97's world clock states that Perth time is 0553hrs, but the time is actually 0653hrs. If I ask the phone to change to Perth as the current location, it asks whether to change phone time to match local time in selected location, which means that the clock continues to show the correct time, despite the world clock being incorrect. I think this is the problem anyway. Thoughts?
When I make an entry in Calendar on Outlook 2007 I get a message that it will not show up in Reminders because it being saved in to a file that is not supported. How do I correct this issue? The appointement itself will show up on my iphone's calendar.
On my old iPhone 4s a calendar reminder would stay visible until I had read it. My iPhone 6 plus seems to lose the reminder after a short period but certainly before I have read it. Is there a setting I have wrong.
I tried to find the answer and can't. I have my calander set to ring and it doesn't ring tone bbpro sanguine

How to apply the ultra savings theme to standard mode without actually going into ultra savings mode?
Just wondering since I really like the black & white theme in ultra savings mode I just don't want to have my phone all the the time in ultra savings mode.
When I synced my phone with Outlook, it synced all the "reminders" or alarms for the calendar. Does anyone know of a way to change this from playing an mp3 alarm to playing nothing? In other words, can I turn off these alarms? They're going off in the middle of the night in some cases. I think I can change a setting that makes them inactive when my phone is off, but I don't want to have to turn my phone off at night.
I have a Samsung i760, to begin with...the clock display on the today screen is set for 12 hours and shows the normal time and not military (no offense to the military personal out there)
My problem is my calendar and alarms. They both have military time .
I have gone to settings system clocks and alarms alarms
Put in a time...and it is ALWAYS military with no AM PM option.
Same with appointments on my calendar. No other option other than military time. It all worked fine up until a week ago and I can't find anything out there on the net that can help me resolve this.
I updated the 5800xm to the new firmware v40.0.005. Everything seems to work, except for a small irritation. There are some entries in my calendar and reminders are set. When a reminder is due, a window pops-up with audible alarm for the calendar entry.
To dismiss the reminder, I have to unlock the touchscreen and select from the 2 options (don't remember the exact names). But, after unlocking, the buttons don't respond.. The touch/tapping seems to be registered, but the alarm still persists. The only button that seems to be active is the Red one, which puts the alarm in 'snooze'.. and the alarm repeats every 5 minutes.
After the alarm is 'snoozed', the keyguard again goes to 'locked' state. Further unlocking and working on the phone works ok, except on the calendar reminder option..
I started having this problem randomly 2 months ago, and when I put appointments on my calendar, they do not notify me, I checked all my settings and profiles and everything is set up, I don't even get the pop up message for the reminder. I even did a backup, clean install of the blackberry with the newest software, restored my messages and contacts etc, and the same issue still occurs...
Had my torch for a week now, all works great except I get no reminders at all from the calendar for appointments, no pop up on screen, no tones or vibrates. If I set a reminder alarm then that works, so does the alarm clock in the morning and all of my message alerts, phone, text, e-mail etc, but nothing from the calendar appointments.
After performing the most recent upgrade, I have noticed that calendar entries that I enter directly into my blackberry 9700 are giving me duplicate reminders. I don't sync calendar entries at all and there is only 1 calendar entry in the calendar, but I end up needing to dismiss 2 reminders for each entry. Interestingly enough, if I update the calendar entry, after that, I only get 1 reminder going forward.
I don't know if this is a problem with the Calendar app, Hangouts, my Nexus 5, AT&T, or Google Calendar on the web. I'm using my Nexus 5 and the built-in Calendar app to sync my phone calendar to the online (web) Google calendar (www.google.com/calendar). For almost all of my events, I've got a Reminder set on the web version to send an SMS to my phone via my standard AT&T, Hangouts-verified phone number. Up until a few days ago, I've gotten these SMS reminders without issue. Suddenly, I'm not getting all of them (I get some, but not all). There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes they'll arrive, sometimes they won't. Looking at the events in the Calendar show the Reminders are still set up. Rebooting the phone doesn't seem to work?
Also, as I was checking the settings on the phone to see if any of those could be causing the problem, I noticed a setting in the Calendar app for "Pop-up notifications" (Calendar app | 3-dot menu | Settings | "General settings" | Notifications | "Pop-up notification"). I turned it on, but it doesn't seem to do anything (I get no pop-up notifications when one of my Calendar events fire).
Recently my Samsung Galaxy S6 has stopped showing me calendar reminders. I feel the phone quickly vibrate when there should be a reminder, but nothing pops up like it used to.
Everytime i add an event to my stock calendar i get an email reminding me of the event. How do i turn this off? Tried turning it off when creating the event but still getting emails.
