It actually shows that a mobile connection is there via 3G but then it fails to open any pages as there 'mobile data connection could not be activated'
I never had any problem so far with anything. But following the last update (last week IOS 5.0.1 ?) my cell phone is in terms of internet usage simply downgraded to semi-smart. I can only surf with WLAN. It is not a provider issue. It is definitely a telephone issue and this really *****.

Mar 22, 2012I've had the iPhone 3GS. I've been unable to connect to the internet via 3G. It works perfectly fine via WiFi and I've tried the SIM in a different handset and it works fine, so that's not the problem. Strangely, it does however work in certain instances, for example I can receive WhatsApp messages and some push notifications, but it will not load internet pages, Facebook, Twitter etc. I've also noticed that the battery is running down quicker than usual. I've tried resetting the network settings, along with resetting the phone on several occasions, neither of which seems to have worked.

May 31, 2012My iPhone cannot use face time now, but did a month or so ago. I am using the same phone number, same Verizon network but a different provider. Why should that make a difference? I paid for the phone, I pay the monthly bill, I am the owner, why should my product not work?
Also I cannot connect to Apple Store, iTunes, Safari,and various other apps. This is certainly not fair. I bought and paid for a total phone with all those applications working. Why in the world are they not, now, inaccessible becuase I found a less expensive provider?

Aug 26, 2014i've been living in a motel for the past couple months, when we first moved here, my internet on my iphone 3g was fine. i was able to search things, use pandora, send imessages, etc. but we recently moved rooms, and after moving rooms, it won't connect to the internet. i thought it would fix itself after a while, but we've been in this room now for nearly two months and it won't connect.Â
Tonight i decided to try some methods others have posted . I soft rebooted it. I hard rebooted it. I backed it up and restored it, putting backups back on it. I restored it without putting backups on it. I removed and then put the sim card back. I played around with the cellular settings. I turned airplane mode off and on about three times. I reset network settings
All of which didn't work. i also thought maybe walking back over to our old room would let it connect to the internet over there, nothing happened with that either.Â

Dec 6, 2011I recently deactivated my Blackberry Bold 9000 (v4.6.0.304 operating system) from AT&T since I ported my cell phone number to US Cellular who had better coverage in my region. I'd like to continue using my Blackberry Bold 9000 as a free wi-fi only internet access device and install the Google Voice app so my kids could text message and make phone calls via the Google Voice app and phone's wi-fi connection. While my BB Bold is able to connect to our home wi-fi network like in the past it doesn't successfully connect to the internet and gives me the following message: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later."
