IPhone :: After Unlocking Officially My 3GS OS 4.3 Applications Cannot Be Started?
Apr 14, 2012
In order to change my provider, i asked to Bouygues France, to unlock my phone (not jailbreak)I respected the process and obtained the apple right message in Itunes, it was correctly unlocked. I tested another SIM card, it was ok.All was ok since my iphone powered down. Then, i cannot launch the downloaded applications, i can only launch the integrated ones.I tried some tricks like :- reset iphone- uninstall/reinstall app- app update- authorize pc on tunes My last backup is very old. Should i restore it? If I restore, will the phone go back to the "locked" state?Any other trick ? Someone encountered the same issue?I'm very disappointed with this issue, i thought that unlocking an iphone was really without risk
Right, I shall soon be selling my 3GS to buy a certain other Apple branded phone. Before I do so, I want to know if O2 will officially unlock my iPhone 3GS, and for how much? I got it almost a year ago on pay as you go. I did try Googling and searching the forum, BTW, but I found a lot of conflicting information and a lot more results that were simply irrelevant.
I would like to unlock my iphone 4 but I don't have the original sim it was locked to nor I know the carrier. I bought it in the UK.
how I can officially unlock my iphone?
I am prepared to pay but I don't really trust what comes up on the Internet so does anyone know any trustworthy and official online unlocker service I could contact? Or any other way to have it unlocked?
as many people on this board should know; in other countries, namely European ones, they have much more consumer friendly laws/practices regarding unlocking phones. in most of them they are required to unlock your iPhone for free after they recoup the subsidy or at the very least after your contract is up. the specific laws by country .when they do this they take your IMEI number from your specific iphone, contact apple in some way, and apple plugs your IMEI into the itunes servers, and the next time you plug your iphone into itunes while you have an internet connection it unlocks your iphone permanently forever (so long as your IMEI number stays on file i suppose).in America we have no laws regarding locking/unlocking phones, aside from the dmca amendment (clarification) from November 2006 that expires in three years that says Unlocking your phone yourself is legal (was it renewed?).
In practice in the usa every phone i cant think of either has an unlock code that you can input into the device at any time to unlock it, or the cell company will unlock it for you at the end of your contract or sometimes if you are traveling internationally. of course, the iPhone is the ONE PHONE that at&t refuses to unlock after the contract, unlike its other phones. when the iphone first came out they said they would but a day later their spokesperson had to publicly state he was wrong and that they would NOT unlock iphones under ANY circumstance and that has been the case ever since. even the phones you can buy without a contract are locked to at&t.***my question is this: in some countries you can pay and have your iphone unlocked at any time. if i take my American iphone to Europe can i pay to have my phone "officially" unlocked? will they refuse to do it unless i am on their European network? will apple reject my IMEI because they know its activated to USA at&t and purchased in America with an at&t contract? it seems like even the newest jailbreak and unlock (blackra1n, blacksn0w) are buggy, so i don’t want to do it. all i really care about is being able to use foreign sim cards and not getting but traped by having to use at&t's overpriced international plan. the international plan DOES NOT include data roaming (or does it not include data at all?), and your email updates automatically. i know you can turn off data roaming but there have been reports of the switch magically turning itself on. even if you accidently slide it on for a second and you switch it off if your iphone dls ONE MEGABYTE of data during that time it could cost 27 dollars!!!
also, this horrific nightmare scenario could happen. I’m not sure if at&t or apple or the gsm carrier in Bermuda fixed this, and i know all you have to do is explain what happened to at&t in the above case and they will zero out your bill but its still a monumental headache. also there have been hazy reports of this happening to other people in other countries. I am a big nerd and very tech savy and i LOVE cellphones, i previously had an enV with hacked free internet and free navigation. i consider the inability to "officially" unlock American iphones to be its biggest drawback, and a BIG one at that. after the contract they should have to offer you an unlock, not doing so creates tech waste. forcing people to get expensive international plans that don’t even include data, a basic function of the iphone, is VERY greedy of at&t.
I bought a second hand Iphone 3gs which is working fine on other carrier (not AT&T) . So I know its not locked, it also came with Cydia installed so I know its jailbroken. But in Cydia I don't see any of the unlock Packages or Sources that are supposed to be used to unlock the iphone. Does that mean its officially unlocked? Right now its on 3.1 (7C144) and modem firmware 05.11.07.
I would really like to officially unlock my iPhone 4. My name is Roman, i bought this phone on eBay , but I'm not the resident of USA, so I can't use it with local operators.
So now that Motorola has announced its plan of not upgrading this phone. What are the choices for the customers who have this phone and are having problems with it? The least Motorola should do, is to issue a credit and let the consumer to upgrade to a phone no matter which brand is it.Also to provide the necessary drivers and software to the developer community - (open up the phone)So other developers/ Hobbyist can deliver - what you said you cannot.Owners of Atrix, Electrify and Photon 4G, are not coming back, because Motorola cannot be trusted. Owners of these devices including myself are not coming back to buy ANY Motorola devices.
Look around on the various forums and websites alike, People are piss, after having the Firmware under development" for almost 9 months a week before release Motorola change their mind and customers do not take that lightly.
My mini pro came with android 2.3.4 installed, but I'm reading here about Android 4.x being available. But onboard software updater says my phone is up to date.Where is the truth?
I have missed the 24th preorder date and I was wondering if by any chance even 1 in million manage to get on hold of a payg iphone 4 (uk) from a carrier like orange, 3 etc. Is there a difference having an officially unlocked iphone from apple vs an ultrasn0w etc. unlock device?? (other than any ethical/moral issues ). Any specific stuff that I will not be able to perform with such an unlock?, any downsides like slowdowns (if it’s a 24/7 background running service etc) ?
I know that O2 official unlock iphones for $15, but I haven’t found any certain info on the other carriers. (note: the phone will not be used to UK at all, so some proposed actions from carriers like: “use the phone for 3 months with the carrier and then ask for an unlock” will not work in my case.)
I had the problem of random restarts after lollipop update (exactly afte rsometime i changed to pattern security )and i gave to service center and they told its OS issues and downgraded to 4.4.4. After that i installed all my apps in 4.4.4 (standard apps like banking, skype etc..) and used it for a while. when i tried to use screen lock as "Pin" this rebooting issue starting again? I managed to change it to "Swipe" and did wipe cache partition, and till now (for last 45mins atleast) its running okay.
In November i purchased Nokia Lumia 510 in India, and i got Windows Phone 7.8 operating system in it. I would like to know Windows Phone 8 version is released in India, and if it is already released then my Nokia Lumia 510 is officially compatible to upgrate to Windows Phone 8?
This will show you just how far out of the "loop" I am but does T-Mobile have a microsim and if so or not, is it going to be possible to unlock the v4 to work with T-Mobile? Don't have ATT where I am. Still on 1st gen and T-Mobile.
I have a 3GS that was activated on AT&T. I closed the account and moved overseas, and have been using it as an iPod Touch + camera for a month or two.Now I want to jailbreak and start using it as my phone here. I'm running Jailbreakme, but then can I do the unlocking without an AT&T SIM in there at all? I might have my old one floating around, but it's probably been deactivated, I'd imagine..
I have done some research and seen ATT now allows iphone's to be unlocked, that being said how is it done? I am wanting to leave ATT for their poor service, and go with a compnay that has no contracts. I am sick of the high bills when nothing has gone over, and paying 250.00 for 3 phones when I do not have bells and whistles!! Anybody willing to help?
i did full charge in my iphone 4 yesterday night and plugged off charger and when i saw my phone today it is closed and not getting on and when i connect to charger or laptop it is not giving responce
There are just so many different scenerios and different options, and i'm somewhat novice, and i don't want to screw anything up, and to top it all off, i'm on a serious time crunch. so, down to business....i've got a 3g, with 3.1.2 and at&t 5.6 and modem firm is 05.11.07 it is jb.
Here is the problem: it's getting really pokey with all the stuff i have loaded on it, and i want to start from scratch. restore. but i'm scared to restore, because i don't want to upgrade to 3.1.3 because final outcome, i need to unlock as well.
What i want to do: restore to completely clean, then re-jailbreak, and unlock.
I have an iPhone 16GB 3Gs that I bought off a USA-eBayer a while ago (though I live in the UK). I'm with Virgin Mobile that 'does not' support the iphone, though when I rung up before the purchase of the phone, the team said though they don't stricktly support the Apple device, but iPhones generally work on their network.
I bought in confidence and my iphone worked floorlessly for about 12 months on the iOS 4.1 system, becuase I didnt want the hastle of unlocking my phone back for the Virgin Mobile website each time I updated through iTunes, i didn't bother. Evenetually I updated to iOS 5.0 (off the internet rather than iTunes) and since then my phone has really struggled to keep a strong signal, or indeed WiFi connection. It can have full signal but then it says 'Searching...' for a couple of seconds then will find all the signal again. This as you can imagine gets pretty infuriating when its happening 4 times a minute, and only when I want to actually use the phone.
Also the phone likes to turn off at any point, even if it says it has about 70% battery and was on charge all night, then it demands to be on charge before it turns back on again, sometimes stating that it has the '70% charge' it told you before, or a dramatically reduced charge depending on its mood.If I wasn't worried about it getting locked to the original carrier, I'd just plug it up to my iTunes and update it, but as it stands, I cant do that!
A friend of mine has an older iPhone (I'm guessing it's an 'original' iPhone, running iOS 3.1.3, using his ex's PUK card, but I could be wrong about that). He's using his ex's card because he inadvertently locked his original card sometime ago and forgot his password. Is there a way he can get it unlocked, possibly using a 'generic' "universal" password so he doesn't have to use his ex's 3G card (supposedly, his old PUK was a 4G)? He's used quite a few of the attempts he has to unlock it so far and only has perhaps 2-3 more tries before the car locks permanently.
I have an iPhone 4 and it was locked to O2. I recently contacted them to say I want it unlocked in order to use my Vodafone simcard and they simply sent me a text and I unlocked the phone through iTunes. I have now inserted my Vodafone microsim (brand new and working, it does on my other phones) and it says No Service no matter what I do!
I recently bought an iphone 4 from a friend which was locked to vodaphone. I have just had the phone unlocked by vodaphone but when i put in my t-mobile sim the phone says either "invaild sim" or "no service".
I have an iphone that was purchased in Las Vegas. It is locked through telcel. Anyone ever heard of telcel unlocking an iphone? Is there a way I can buy a telcel carrier sim card and unlock it. What can i do to use this phone?
I recieved iPhone 4s for Christmas and it worked fine for about a month then it started rebooting randomly. I tried factory restores, DFU and anything else (no it was not wet) and nothing worked. I took the phone to Apple in early March and they replaced the phone and instructed me to not restore from back on my computer so I did not - I still have not. It contines to reboot so I thought maybe it's a bad sim card so I got a new one. I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and still no change.
just today, my iphone has started loading 2 photos of each pic i take into camera roll. How can I avoid these dupes? It's not after synching.....just duplicates each shot in camera roll.
