BB Curve 8900 :: My Phone Does Not Ring Anymore?
Jun 19, 2010Since yesterday my 8900 stopped ringing and clock alarm does not work anymore.What I have done:
1. Profiles. Reviewed my Normal(Active) profile under the Profiles menu tab Advanced. Tried several options on the Phone settings, including Out of Holster: Tone, Vibrate+Tone, changed the Ring Tone, changed the Volume. Made sure Mute, None, or Do Not Disturb options were NOT selected. Nothing.
2. Chose a different profile, such as Loud. Nothing.
3. Turned the phone off, pulled the battery out and reinserted. Nothing.
4. Turned the phone on, pulled the battery out and reinserted. Nothing.
I just tried to play a music but it failed untill I pressed Menu and selected Activate Handset instead of Speakerphone and the music start to play. My version is 4.6.1.206

Feb 24, 2012Since 2 or 3 days, when an SMS is sent to me, my 6303 does not ring anymore, nor displays any message, nor displays the envelope as it should do. Therefore I am not aware when I get an SMS. However, when I check the Inbox, the SMS is there. Note that incoming calls DO ring as defined in the selected profile. I checked my Outdoor profile (which is the active one), and the tone is ON for incoming SMSes. So I do not know what's wrong, except a firmware issue. Or should I reboot? (I did not try that) Are there other options to check?

Sep 17, 2010I am using a ringtone that came installed on the phone. I have vibrate set to off and I am in the loud profile. When someone calls me, my phone rings once and then there is a long delay before it rings again. My daughter has the Bold and she uses the same ringtone and doesn't have this problem. I have Sprint and she has AT&T if that matters. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Aug 25, 2011as the title says, when someone phones me they hear music instead of the standard "ring ring" that you would expect to hear. It starts of with someone saying "to download ringtone" then just plays annoying music. I've tried a hard reset but it's still there!

Apr 5, 2012My iPhone will not boot up, and I don't know what did it. My friend said his iPod won't come on because he charged it on a friend's XBOX overnight, and so did I. I really don't know if the XBOX did it, but it's possible. The other day I turned it off to save power, and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't completely boot up. The Apple logo shows up for about a minute and then the loading symbol comes up and just keeps going and it won't ever get to the lock screen. I've tried to restore it. It won't show up in iTunes so I heard about putting the device in Recovery Mode to make it recognizable. It made it show up, but every time I tried to restore it gave me error codes like 21, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, and 1604. My iPhone was on 5.0.1 and at the Restore page in iTunes that only had options to Update and Restore. Update was grayed out, and there should be an update to 5.1. Then today when I tried restoring it the message at the top was stuck on "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple..." iTunes isn't frozen on "Verifying iPhone restore with Apple," it just won't say anything else. I've tried everything and nothing works. I've even tried holding the Power and Home buttons forever, and still, nothing works.

May 29, 2012I used to be able to tether my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.7.4) by connecting my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) through the USB cable. Now I cannot anylonger. It works fine tethering using Wi-Fi.I prefer USB tethering to Wi-Fi tethering because it conserves both the Macbook and the iPhone battery.The problem is that I do not have an "Ethernet Adaptor (en5)" service in the list, and I do not know how to create one.I am sure that my USB port and cable works well, because it charges my phone, and I can use it for development (XCode) uploading apps and running them in debug mode. I also tried to turn off the Macbook Wi-Fi, connect and disconnect the iPhone with the Personal Hotspot ON, restart both the Macbook and the iPhone.

Jul 1, 2012my iphone 4 was working fine a couple of days ago, but suddenly i plugged the device to my laptop and after a while i realized it wasnt charging anymore, i have tested on a lot of computers, wall charger, but i got the same issue, even on a mac but no luck.
So finally i turned off and after a while i realized the phone was fully charged, at least i found a temporary solution to this problem but its really anoying to switch off to charge the phone, if you solve this problem please let me know.
I believe it should be a software issue, because the phone actullay charges when its off.
I will be really glad if some apple employee answer me about this problem, i would like to know if ios6 comes out with a solution to this issue maybe by a simple firmware upgrade??

Mar 27, 2012Seems like after the last update, the phone won't ring for incoming calls and text messages. It appears lots of other iPhone users are having the same issue. I am just out of warranty on the phone and I wasn't going to purchase a warranty because I was waiting for the new phone to appear. The alarm works fine and the ringtones play when I try to select new ringtones. This is really a problem...I never had this kind of problem with my older iphones!

May 4, 2010hey all been lurking for a while trying to learn as much about jailbreaking and its issues before i took the plunge on my virgin 3gs. the rave reviews about the new spirit jb convinced me, so i did it yesterday and couldnt be happier. it was so easy, in fact it was anti climactic. i was expecting something to go wrong, or some sort of headache but it was so quick and easy. im a windows vista user so i just changed the compatibility mode to win 98 and it went without a hitch. so far ive added lockinfo and im using glaskart theme. cant wait to play around to modding it more. so just wanna say thanks to everyone on this forum, theres a wealth of knowledge here.4.0, who needs 4.0 now?

Apr 19, 2012So I have an iphone 4 with the 5.0.1 update. I board at a school for most of my time and there's wifi on campus that my phone used to connect to, but up until Monday is hasn't been connecting for some reason. My phone sees the connection, but it won't connect. The gray spinning wheel just keeps going and going. I've tried turning off my phone and turning it back on. and I've tried resetting the network, but that hasn't worked. I can't turn off the router and turn it back on and whatnot cuz the wifi belongs to the school. I'm not sure if it's just the school's wifi to or all wifi connections cuz I can't leave campus for a few weeks so I'm noy sure if my phone will be able to connect to my home wifi. There's actually more that one wifi signal that the school gives off but my phone doesn't connect to any of them anymore. My laptop connects to the wifi and my friends phones can. I don't get why mine won't though. It's been working all this time and suddenly won't connect anymore.
Why won't my iphone connect to wifi anymore? What can I do to make it connect again?

Apr 22, 2012When I attempt to back it up (locking it, making sure it's connected to WiFi, and plugging it into my laptop or the wall), it says something like "9 hours to complete backup," and doesn't complete the back up. What's going on? It's never had this issue before. Granted, it is a refurb (3rd one) that has carried with it the software issues of my original 4s (exceedingly annoying; it has all sorts of little annoying issues), but it has never continuously failed to back up.
