IPhone :: 3g Restore - ITunes Keeps Prompting To Update To New Firmware?
Feb 26, 2010
I am trying to restore my iphone to it's original 3.1.2 firmware. But, iTunes keeps promting me to update to the new firmware. Is there a way around having to do this?
My phone died two days ago. When I pluged it in to charge, a screen came up that prompted me to connect to itunes ( a picture of the usb cord connecting to "itunes" ). My phone will power down, but when you turn back on, it returns to this screen. It will not do anything else. Nothing! I connected to my itunes, and it did say that my iphone needed to be "restored" I did this, and nothing has changed.
Today my JB'd 3G on 3.1.2 went into a funky state and I attempted to reboot. Since then I've been stuck on the Apple logo at start up and nothing.
So, i put the phone in DFU mode and Itunes 9 is giving me the option to "Update & Restore", HOWEVER, I dont want to do this because I want to stay on 3.1.2 for obvious reasons. I also have been reading stuff about SHSH but I have no clue what this is so one can assume I never did anything prior regarding SHSH.
When itunes has the pop up on the screen saying "update and restore" can I hold "shift and click "update&restore" to choose a 312 ipsw, or is that option only available if restoring without being in DFU mode.
I'm trying to restore and update a new iPhone 5 on iTunes. I keep trying but each time it says an error has occurred. I have restarted my mac, got the latest version of iTunes and checked for updates. Do I need to update to OS X Yosemite for it to work? I'm not sure what else I can do?
I've just updated my iPhone and trying to restore from iTunes back up. iTunes is asking me for a password...I can't remember what it is? Any way I can find out?
recieved a message on my iphone, iphone needs to be restored to recieved cellular coverage or something that. Tried to restored comes up with error (-1) cant be restored.
I was trying to restore my friends 3G which is stuck in connect to iTunes on the screen when ever i try restoring it, it says 1015 error while restoring!
if I restore factory setting to my iPhone, is it still possible to restore the backup from itune/ icloud to get the purchased apps and other informations?
I updated my phone and restored it at the apple store (it had a bug apparently) and now it prompts me to sign in with [url]... It pops up every few minutes now, even when I'm not doing anything with my phone. That's not my email address and I haven't bought music from the iplus4u site. My friend may have, and we share music, but how can i figure out if/which songs are from that site to delete them?
I have a iphone 3gs 3.1.2 MC model that was jailbroken via tethered blackra1n. The problem is now when i try to restore to original firmware the phone resets and gets to that itunes connect screen (which is probably caused by blackra1n tethered jailbreak). The only way i can get out of that screen is to rejailbreak by blackrain because itunes will only allow me the option of restoring and updating to 3.1.3 which will screw me over for a unlock .How can i restore my firmware to a clean 3.1.2 without dealing with the connect to itunes freeze and not upgrading to 3.1.3?
My IPhone keeps prompting me for the Apple ID password. It seems to randomly happen, however it is pretty frequent. Is there some program or something that keeps tripping it? I looked under my settings, but haven't found anything that looks amiss. I am using the Apple 4.
So i just bought an iPhone 3G at the store and would like to use it with a different carrier, it has firmware 3.1.3 on it and i have iTunes 9.1 on my mac, I've been looking all over for an answer but everyone just seems to be talking about the iPhone 3GS or the iPad. i really don't wanna break it or do anything before I'm sure it'll work. I've had a jailbroken iPhone (first generation) before and unlocked it many times, but as it broke a few months ago I'm totally not up to date now.
i restored my iphone4 to factory settings because it was running slow and some apps werent working. My phone is now stuck in repair mode and is continually rebooting itself. I know the usual solution would be to restore via itunes but itunes will not allow me to do anything as i get the error "itunes cannot find disk"
I just started researching IPhone hacking over the last week, and it seems to me that the obvious way to block this, is to disable iTunes ability to upload custom firmware to the iPhone by holding down option while agreeing to reloading firmware. I would think that iTunes could only allow firmware to be downloaded from a registered apple server.
The argument that it would require a customer to have an internet connection is poor, because just about everyone does, and people could take the phone to an apple store if they did not. No less restrictive than "no cash" for iPads—most people have credit or debit cards (yes I read today that policy is terminated). Or would hackers just create something that can upload the firmware and simulate iTunes so this doesn't matter?
I bought my phone on a contract with Tesco Mobile, and as expected it came pre-installed with their operator junk and wouldn't let me update to the latest version.
So I used a 3rd party software to install the generic PR 1.2 firmware (latest version), and it's working great, very happy .
Now I'm left wondering... How do I restore the operator firmware incase anything goes wrong with the phone? (and no, i didn't make a back-up). If I restore the phone to factory defaults, will this restore the operator firmware?

iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. I've been getting this message while I tried to restore my phone. How can I be done with that?
