Huawei Nexus 6P :: DNS Servers On Mobile Data (blocked Sites)
Feb 9, 2016
I'm having the problem that some of the sites I use are blocked by ISPs in Denmark - torrent sites. Of course I use Googles DNS servers on my home WiFi - problem solved. I would also like to be able to use Googles DNS servers when on mobile data.
I would much rather change some system file that overwrites the APN settings, than install a VPN or DNS changer app.
Both mine and my wife's 6p's are not able to access the internet while a call is in progress. My phone is unlocked & rooted, however my wife's is complete stock so I know that can't be the issue. I've also tried disabling the "enhanced" calling with LTE under cellular networks on both devices and this doesn't fix the issue, either.
After going into my Verizon online and adding the Advanced calling 1.0 feature to my line, then rebooting my phone, and waiting a few minutes, things automatically started working.
It's laggier than my Z3! I was NOT expecting this. Scrolling on certain sites is super choppy.
I have performed a factory reset and first impressions are that it is super smooth and silky now when scrolling again. I am yet to sign Chrome into my google account to sync a tonne of my bookmarks and see if this affects performance. Also, waiting on all my 237 apps to install in the background first before carrying out another test too. I will report back once I've done so.
On my previous factory reset, somebody said I should remove last pass, which I did but it made no difference as I still had other accessibility services enabled. So the problem resurfaced.
Okay, so it is all down to accessibility services, IMHO. Once enabled, Chrome seems to suffer from this dreaded laggggg and slow touch response or sometimes freeze and crash on sites like daily mail, XDA and huffpost. I have performed a factory reset and not enabled any accessibility services yet and everything is hunky dory, even with full bookmark and account sync.
I will update when and if problem recurs. All seems well for last couple weeks...
the websites i wanna open recognize my safari browser and open it as mobile site so i ve to find the link on the page to open the full webpage. is there a way i can make the sites make recognize the browser as full safari browser like from the macbook one
Yesterday all our email accounts on @mobileemail.vodafone.net. I have got Vodafone to list the case with RIM. But is there anymore i can do?
The message we getting is antispam43.c0.bise7.blackberry.We are not on any blacklists. Is there a way of checking what ip's blackberry block. Ask them to take us off, if we on there blacklist. Is anyone else getting this?
This question is not specific to the Nexus 6P, but that is the phone I carry. I add 2 or 3 phone numbers (telemarketers) to my blocked call list every week. When a telemarketer calls, I
(1) hang up, (2) go to the call log, (3) tap the call record to expand it, (4) tap "call details", then (5) select "block number."
That's all very simple. The issue is that now that I have dozens or hundreds of blocked numbers , when I miss a call, there's no easy way to see if the missed call was from a number on my blocked list. A missed call from a blocked number looks the same as a missed call from an un-blocked number (unless they're in my contact list). I can scroll through (but not search or sort) my blocked call list by
(1) opening phone app, (2) tapping "Settings" in the primary menu, then (3) tapping "Call Blocking."
This presents a list of all of the numbers that I've ever blocked, but I can't search it and I can't sort it.
in a perfect world, the Call Log would somehow show a flag for missed calls from blocked numbers so that I don't have to search the list to see if the number is blocked. In an even more perfect world, a tap on that number would take me to a detail page showing all the times that number has called and been blocked. Finally, the blocked number list would be both searchable and sortable. I think that most/all of this could be accomplished by a 3d party app - for which I'd gladly pay five bucks. There are lots of call blocking apps on the market, but they all appear to operate separately from the Android native call blocking function.
Unlocking the bootloader of my nexus wiped clean the internal storage. Although I did not lose much but it made me realize that I should have a backup system in place where everything is being backed up on my home NAS on a daily scheduled basis. I am planning to buy Seagate 4 TB (STCG3000200) which will be connected to my router. now I am looking for a way where I can schedule a incremental dump or differential dump of my phone on a daily basis so I dont have to worry about the backups any more.
So, i've reset phone, flashed new image, changed from Chrome to Dolphin to no avail. I thought they fixed this bug, but evidently not. Browsers are always my top battery usage.
With this new default browser I am automatically routed to the mobile servers with most websites. For instance when I log in to google it defaults to mobile.Or eBay.Or Southwest.I need the full browsers and on most websites you don't have the option to switch like with Google.
I've been on the Pure Nexus rom for a while now and I wanted to try out the Screw'd Rom. So I downloaded and installed said rom. When It boots up and goes to the setup wizard I get no network data what so ever. I looked through the thread and it said to also flash the update vendor.zip. I did that hoping it would bring back my data but it didn't. So I decided to go back to the Pure Nexus rom, clean install, and again I have no network data. What I could do to get it back? I've tried messing with the APN settings but no dice. I should have made a back up before switching roms but unfortunately I forgot to do so.
best way when considering my Note 4 is locked? it did not work perfectly when I move from my Samsung s3 to the note but not sure if Helium is really my only option..I definitely want to move over my sms/mms
I don't get my Nexus 6P shown as a drive on Windows 10. I've installed the Google Drivers. Also I have the adb and fastboot driver. USB Debugging is enabled. When I switch to MTP, nothing happens. When I change to PTP my Nexus gets a mark in the device list but I can't install any driver manually. Even when I navigate to the location where the google drivers are located.
There was an option during setup to transfer app data from my old phone. I skipped it initially as I figured I'd do it later, but now I can't find it... Also, am I going to have problems using this option coming from an Amazon Fire Phone?
I installed Pure Nexus and that went great. That is until I left the house and had no data. Did some searching and all the recommendations say install the latest vendor image. So I did and flashed the mmb29q vendor image and I still don't have data.
Is their a way to update while being rooted, and keep the data. I am thinking that after I lock the phone and update it, and re root it, that my phone will be wiped completely
How to disable the data usage warning? I'm aware that I can just set the limit to a ridiculous amount and it will stop going off, but that's not what I'm looking for. I guess I'm just easily annoyed by the fact that there is no setting to turn this off. You can uncheck the box for "set data limit" but that still doesn't get rid of the warning.
I am already unlocked and rooted, but I would like to relock the bootloader assuming that I can unlock it for future updates without losing data. The Nexus 5 had a boot locker app in the App Store which allowed this, but I do not find an option for the 6 P.
If you rotate the phone it fixes itself, and displays the images as normal. I THINK it is only on mobile type sites but could be mistaken. It is like its rendering a tiny version and scaling it up to fill the screen. Which is kind of how mobile sites work on hi res phone displays but the images don't get reentered, they stay super blurry..
Sometimes a website will have a mobile version (in this case proflowers.com) that will come up if I try to go to the real site. While mobile sites are nice, sometimes I need to see the real, actual site. Is there a way to force Safari to go to the real site? Some sites have a link to the real site, but others do not? I'd like it be MY choice whether I use a mobile version of site or not, but I can't currently figure out how to make Safari take me to the real site when a mobile one is available.
My Xperia Play is forcing me to the mobile websites, whenever i try to go to the bbc website and it always gives me the moblie versions and i want it to go to the normal one. I've set my useragent to desktop and even tryed dolphin with useragent as desktop but they both force me to the moblie site is there any way to force it to the normal sites
my screen started to do really strange things (beyond max brightness line on the right, then black lines on the right) before finally giving up the ghost and dying completely. Is there a way of pulling the data off the phone if you don't have any visual feedback? I've powered it off and on, so my first problem is the encrypted volume login, followed by the normal login, followed by getting to the USB setting pulldown to activate MTP. is there a good way of wiping the volume short of just unlocking the bootloader and formatting the data partition? does the bootloader need to be unlocked to do that?
I friend's Nexus 6P ran out of battery yesterday. Upon charging, the phone refused to start and it has gone into a bootloop (endless startup animation). I don't have the phone in hand yet (will get it tonight), but I had my friend get into the bootloader and try to flash the factory images using the included batch file. This did not work because he did not have the OEM unlock option enabled in developer options.
I had him try "Fast boot Format User data", which also didn't work as the phone is locked. Is there anything that can be done to fix it? Or a way to unlock without the OEM unlock option enabled?
Every once in a while, when I'm surfing the net, facebook etc. my data would just drop from LTE to "No Service" and stays there for 15 or so seconds before jumping back up.
I have tried going back to stock/locked bootloader, tested with another sim card and yet the issue occurs.
Using my sim card on another phone shows no drop in signal.. if I should RMA my device. Currently back to 6.0.1 Chroma.
Its getting really frustrating in the last 10 mins to drop over 3 times.
Tonight I was in the gmail app doing a search through my work inbox. It showed me some results, but that wasn't old enough so I said "Load more". Repeated that step a few times and suddenly gmail crashed out ("Unfortunately, Gmail has stopped working"). Relaunching it ever-so-briefly makes the list of mail messages appear but then crashes again.
I completely powered off and rebooted - same thing happened when I opened gmail again.
I went into Settings -> Apps, selected Gmail and went to storage. Cleared the cache and then tried opening it -> same result.
Clear Cache, reboot before opening -> same result.
The Clear Data button appears enabled in the same green color as Clear Cache, however nothing happens when I click it. Clear Cache gets a shadow / ripple effect where I click it. Nothing like that on Clear Data, it's like it doesn't recognize it is "touchable".
I also note that when I go into the Gmail app (before going into the separate screen where Clear Data / Clear Cache are), that the Disable button and Force Stop buttons are both greyed out / disabled.
From the home screen, I tapped the button to bring up the list of open windows/apps and swiped Gmail off to close it that way, but again no change in behavior.
Phone is stock ROM. I did unlock the bootloader in anticipation of rooting it, but I ended up never going that next step and have just been taking the OTAs since then (am currently on 6.0.1, January 1 security patch level).
I noticed that when my phone was sitting still the screen would randomly turn on, not just to the ambident display screen but to the lockscreen. I realized it was happening anytime the phone lost its data connection and had to reconnect. I can replicate it by turning airplane mode on then off and immediately turning the screen off with the power button. After about 5 seconds, the screen turns on again on its own. I've tried disabling ambient display, daydream, tasker, and bluetooth, but it still happens. I have unlocked the bootloader and changed the dpi but everything else is stock, no root.
I have Marshmallow and a Nexus 6. My wifi reception is very poor upstairs and I end up using mobile data when I sleep, unless I switch it off before sleeping, which can be a little annoying. Any apps, or a way of switching off mobile data when I've reached a certain GPS (or radio tower, or set a timer) location?
I've used Tasker in the past but had to root my phone for it to work. Not keen to root my Nexus because I'd like to keep using my mobile banking apps!
If I am connected to my home wifi my LG nexus 5 will not receive emails. If i turn off wifi and rely on my mobile data then they come through without any problem.
Also if i am connected to my home wifi i cant download any images or videos that people send my through kik or whatsapp. But i do get the text messages that they send.
