Just got my HTC ONE. Love it, but I hate the HTC browser that seems married to the lock screen. Can I swap it out for Chrome like I could on my ONE X? I can't seem to figure it out. The app association menu in settings is different. Short version, can you edit the lock screen short cuts?

I can't find any way to change the shortcuts that appear on the lockscreen (important: I am not referring to the 4 apps that mirror the ones on your default launcher's dock). If you don't get what I'm talking about say so, I'll edit this with better pictures etc.

Instead i can set up my contact with the pictures, but not the installed shortcuts like music, web,etc... I am really fraustrated with this, as i have to keep going into applications to click on my email to retrieve my msgs and to play music as well..

I am returned to the home screen but now the shortcut I had for my email account inbox is gone, replaced by a shortcut to the music store. I had to manually fix this several times but then I discovered that just leaving it after a while the correct icon would reappear.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a X6 since a month or so and I always left the start screen settings in place. Recently, the shortcuts on that screen have gone. Only the phone and menu buttons at the bottom are visible. I've tried setting the Theme to no avail.
I've also tried a hard reset (soft wouldn't do it), and that works fine. But when I restore my phone, the same problem persists. Even when I do not restore the phone settings, but only contact, messages, etc, the shortcuts on the start screen are gone again.It feels like there's some corrupt data in the backup. Anyone got another tip?
I've recently made the switch back to android from an iPhone after quite a few years and I'm trying to re-familiarize myself with android's operating system and work out what I need to change and using this phone I noticed the notifications lacking, so I set up DashClock and DashNotifier and so far I love it. It does exactly what I want it to do for all the apps I have set up with it except for the notifications coming through the 'Messages' app on the phone for text messages.
When receiving a text message my lock screen ignores that I've set up DashClock as my default lock screen and pulls up the original lock screen with the quite ugly 'New Message' notification (as seen in the attached picture). If I scroll to the right DashClock is open and showing the message notification just fine. I've tried to disable the lock screen notifications for the 'Messages' app but haven't been successful in removing it. Is there a way to just have the 'Messages' app give lock screen notifications on the top bar and none like in the image below, or is there a work around within DashClock/DashNotifier or some other application that would fix this? My phone is running Android 4.4.2.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? When I try adding any shortcut to the home screen, it shows a "running circle" icon on the home screen. Looks like it's loading, but it's just like that forever. This happens to all available shortcuts and most of the widgets except for Clocks and Map Apps.My phone is updated to the latest Belle.

Initially I thought I might have leaned on the screen when it was in my pocket (although I was sure it had screen-locked) and it was processing the outstanding signals, but it is now doing it when I haven't touched the screen or had anything else pressing on it. Turning it off and on again helps for a bit, but it starts again after a while. Is this something a software update would resolve (though I'm not having any success with the SUS either.

I've set in google play app to put a shortcut of new apps to home screen, but it actually add them to the very left one. The same is happening when trying to create a shortcut for contact - pin to home screen and I find them all on the very left screen instead.

I have loaded some company PDF and HTML reference files to the SD card, in a folder I call StationGuides. I have created shortcuts to them in the same folder as the PDF file and the index.html. I cannot figure out how to drag or copy those shortcuts to the Home screen for quicker access.

1) no notifications are displayed on my lock screen even for missed calls or sms's .. there is no any icon or symbol that informs me if i have missed any call or received a message ; and i have to unlock my phone every time to check
in the Settings -> Sounds and Notifications -> i selected the option to show all the notifications.. but nothing changed
2) also on the lock screen , not widget for the walkman or the sound cloud to enable me to pause the players or to navigate to the next song
At the bottom of the screen, there's three shortcuts: Camera, Media Net, and Menu. I can't seem to find a way in the Settings to remove these and I haven't seen it discussed in the user guide. Is it also possible to remove the date and time from that same main screen as well?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to delete, change or deactivate the "web" short cut on the bottom right of the Elm home screen, as activated by the top right hand button i.e. the same button used to "lock" the key pad and to go "back" from most functions. I am constantly starting the web process which is really frustrating & time consuming. Also costs me 50p if don't realize & it goes on from Vodafone homepage. Took phone to shop & their suggestion was to deactivate web by changing internet & WAP settings to 'pay as you go'. This is unhelpful as means can't send picture messages which I regularly do (camera one of reasons for buying Elm!).

Replaced the memory card with a bigger one, then did an update...Now, I lost my shortcuts on the main screen.Bad news is that the old memory card is formatted, so I cant just reinstall by using that. The symptoms are random disconnects from WLAN and, after doing a soft reset, unable to put shortcuts on the home screen (using the Shortcuts theme). I really think the problem is with the memory card because I can't turn the phone on with the card inside.
Is there a way to scan/repair problems with the memory card? I really, really want to avoid a hard reset. Last time I did that, I lost all my apps from the memory card (I have the Games Edition). I can try using PC Suite or Ovi Suite to back up my memory card apps, but I don't trust the suites that much. What I'd like to do is drag and drop my memory card apps to another location in my PC, but I cannot see the memory card apps in Windows Explorer.
I bought a Nokia 5230 in Jan this year. There was no issue for the first few days... Then suddenly it started restarting . Radomly. First when I enabled bluetooth. Then later on it would restart when I changed a setting like Home Screen Shortcuts or Personalised the General Profile ... etc. I am using a SanDisk MicroSD 4 GB card brand new clean formatted. I have only put in music from NokiaMusic and OVI store apps. It has nothing to do with software installed. There is some really wierd problem.
..So , I went to the Nokia Care store countless times, and they re-installed and updated the phone software and gave it to me.. still the same problem.. SO then they sent it to the Delhi Head Office and I got a replacement 5230 !!! And guess what still the same problem !!! Random restarts. I feel there is some issue with the phone software or firmware or there is some issue with the phone accessing its memory card , I dont know. I have the latest firmware update for this phone V12.0.089
1. Home screen shortcuts completely disappeared, no explanation and no clue how to get them back, tried settings, they don't work...
2. Can't update, need a server profile settings, WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY
3. Nokia ovi maps requires licence when it clearly says free on the description...
4. My phones stopped recording all phone calls, tried the log, nothing works
