It isn't natively supported outside the phone, image viewer and browser.if you press CTRL + SHIFT + R on your keyboard then close the keyboard it will turn on/off auto rotate for all apps. Then you can see how BAD some of them look check out the calculator!(press those keys again to turn it back off)

I checked all the settings, and googled around, so I restarted my phone, now it works again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI posted this elsewhere earlier today and I think it was in the wrong place. Anyway, I've had my one x about 3 weeks and now the auto rotate has stopped working. The "auto rotate" box is checked and I've tried the "G-Sensor calibration". When I try this, the levels "jiggle" and then I get a message "Calibration aborted"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a brand new HTC Desire HD last week and the screen was auto-rotating for the first few days. I noticed last night that it no longer does. I've tried in the browser and also opera.I've gone to Settings->Display and auto-rotate is ticked. I did a G-Sensor calibration and that didn't help either. Is it possible that the accelerometer is broken? How can I test it to see if it's working?I also tried to play Replica Island using the accelerometer and the robot won't move no matter which way I tilt the phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got an HTC One a few days ago and love it. However, I can't get the screen to rotate no matter what I do. I've tried toggling the 'auto-rotate screen' option on and off and on again. Tried doing a reset. Numerous reboots... When I run G-Sensor calibration, it says 'Calibrating' for a few seconds and then says 'Calibration stopped'. Also tried booting into safe mode and get the same results. Haven't used Android since 2009ish or so, so I'm not too familiar with all the settings and such... is there a setting or switch somewhere that I'm missing? Or does this sound like a hardware issue?

it will not work with any of the features on the phone now, even with it switched on.
Tried an app from the app store , this works fine.
I've tried monitoring CPU frequency with auto rotate on and off and noticed that with auto-rotate on if that phone is being moved about then the CPU cores all ramp up quite a bit.
To re-create: use on-screen cpu frequency monitor*shake* the phone in front of you whilst watching CPU frequencywith phone locked portrait I have 4 small + 1 big at 384 Mhz.with auto rotate I get 4 small cores at 1500 and 2 big core at 1.5-1.8The only record I can find of this kind of bug online is some entries in Google's bug databases for the Nexus S back in 2013-2014.
What does this mean? well, assuming you don't have rock-steady hands, or perhaps you want to use your phone in a dash-clamp in the car, this random CPU spiking with drain the battery and heat up the phone for no reason!
I've been able to get a notable increase in battery and reduced heat output of my phone by leaving rotate off unless I really need it, but this is clearly an issue that needs to resolved.
My screen rotate does not work. I tried everything but... I think that sensor does not work properly because it doesn't matter that auto rotate is on .

View 6 Replies View RelatedEveryone is going to think that i mean no home screen rotate, but i mean no screen rotation at all. The only time the screen rotates is when watching the YouTube app. And then it wont rotate back until i go back to my home screen. I have it set to auto rotate in the pull down shade. I have checked the sensor with an app and its working. I have tried a soft restart and that didn't work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHad my SII for 3 days now and am loving it but as of 2 hours ago my screen will no longer auto-rotate.
Earlier, via orange swapables, I was watching skysports with the screen held horizontally with no problems at all. Even after that I was sending a message using swype (what a cool feature by the way), holding it horizontally.
Since then I've not been able to rotate the screen. It is set to on via the notifications panel and under the settings menu.
I've put a new Case Mate Tough Case on as of this morning but was watching the football after I had put the case on. I have since tried removing the case to see if it works without, but with no luck.
I've checked the firmware and stuff and am running all the latest versions.
I've done the keypad *#0*# and checked the sensor test page, accelerometer, gyroscope sensor and magnetic sensor are showing different figures as I move the phone around but the image test does not rotate.
Under settings > display I've ran the calibration tests and they all ran fine.
Everyone is ranting about the auto rotate but I have never got it working on my phone. I read somewhere that it only works with the image gallery but on my E72-1 this is not so. It would be nice is someone pointed me in the right direction.
