on the Nexus One, has anyone else experienced sometimes when you're pressing the home button and the search keeps appearing? sometimes when it happens, it doesn't seem to matter how careful i am to press the home button, but the search button keeps getting activated instead. once i lock the phone and then unlock it again, the problem goes away. i've experienced it already 2 times since i got the phone 4 days ago.

When having text notification sounds, on other phones I know there's a quick button to silence it let's say if it goes off and you're talking to someone. I know from reading so far the only "quick" way to do that is hold down the volume button. Is there literally no other button on the phone that you can just click to silence your notification, while having notifications have a volume. I have a hard time hearing so I tend to leave the notifications/ringtone volume on. With a lockscreen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently happy with my Gingerbread but I really want that option to just slide the lcok screen to the left and it will launch the camera app. Right now, in it's place is the Sound option which will let me silence and unsilence the phone by swiping to the left. I hardly use this feature and would be happy to replace it with one for image capturing just like on ICS.

This is a huge pain when you are taking a photo and have to go through several steps to turn on a light that should have been an automatic flash to begin with or at least have a quick toggle button on the same camera screen. This is nuts not to have this at an instant when it is so important to have to take some pictures. the new 2.1 (I cannot tell since I live in the USA and we are getting the shaft on the new update--everyone else is getting it before us and no one will say when we are getting it)

View 7 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago, my new nokia 5800 which i recieved on a plan using virgin fell into water. I bought a new one from a website called topbuy.com.au, which came from Hong Kong, although claimed to be made at the same factory as all the other phones. When i received my new phone, i was suprised to see that everything seemed to be in order, and that it all looked fine.When i started the phone i noticed many problems with my layout. It all seemed very awkward, and the Add button for the quick contact function was large. I also had 2 buttons saying telehpone and contacts at the bottom of the screen instead of the 2 icons that were there on my older phone. I also do not have the full screen qwerty keyboard available, or atleast cannot find it, when i want to text. Another small thing i noticed was that when i scrolled through with the stylus, for example through the messageing menu, instead of stopping at the top or bottom it would keep scrolling untill i stopped.

Is there an app available that will allow you to modify the quick settings menu on stock Android? My phone is rooted so but otherwise it's stock. I don't miss the instability of CyanogenMod, just that one feature, so I don't want to install a custom ROM, I just want to add a couple of things to the quick settings menu.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI like to flash different ROMs, sometimes 3 or 4 per week, sometimes 3-4 per day ... I usually come back to a "daily driver" (currently Chroma) after trying new ROMs - but I always have a Nandroid of my daily driver I can return to.
I know that downloading apps and setting them up is the nature of the beast when flashing new ROMs, but is there a quicker way to restore all your apps and settings? I have Titanium Backup (pro) installed and have backed up all my apps I have customized settings for, the rest are just left as default. I also have TWRP manager (pro), but it asks you to individually install each app and is almost quicker to just let Google choose which ones to download and restore all the apps upon setup. I've never used TIBU to restore more than my backed up app settings, does it ask you to install each app as it goes through them too? Is Titanium the quickest way or is there another way?
When already on another call and someone else calls me, I no longer see the option to reject the call and reply with quick message replies.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis question is not specific to the Nexus 6P, but that is the phone I carry. I add 2 or 3 phone numbers (telemarketers) to my blocked call list every week. When a telemarketer calls, I
(1) hang up,
(2) go to the call log,
(3) tap the call record to expand it,
(4) tap "call details", then
(5) select "block number."
That's all very simple.The issue is that now that I have dozens or hundreds of blocked numbers , when I miss a call, there's no easy way to see if the missed call was from a number on my blocked list. A missed call from a blocked number looks the same as a missed call from an un-blocked number (unless they're in my contact list). I can scroll through (but not search or sort) my blocked call list by
(1) opening phone app,
(2) tapping "Settings" in the primary menu, then
(3) tapping "Call Blocking."
This presents a list of all of the numbers that I've ever blocked, but I can't search it and I can't sort it.
in a perfect world, the Call Log would somehow show a flag for missed calls from blocked numbers so that I don't have to search the list to see if the number is blocked. In an even more perfect world, a tap on that number would take me to a detail page showing all the times that number has called and been blocked. Finally, the blocked number list would be both searchable and sortable. I think that most/all of this could be accomplished by a 3d party app - for which I'd gladly pay five bucks. There are lots of call blocking apps on the market, but they all appear to operate separately from the Android native call blocking function.
I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty. How to disable this feature? I cannot find anything in settings.
I installed the release Marshmallow factory image yesterday - MRA58K - userdata and cache wiped. I've got a very frustrating Wifi problem which wasn't present in Lollipop - connecting to Wifi via the quick settings tile is really slow.
If I toggle Wifi off and on again via the quick settings tile it takes anything between 10-15 seconds for the wifi connection to re-establish.
If I toggle Wifi off and on from the Settings --> Wifi menu the wifi connection is re-established almost instantly as expected.
Both toggle methods were almost instant in LMY48M connecting to the same router/wireless network.
I've tried various combinations of advanced wifi options, i.e. different frequency bands options (my network is 2.4ghz, so have tried 2.4ghz and automatic), network notification toggled on/off, have tried with mobile data enabled/disabled - same behavior.

So i've had my blackberry 8900 for a year now & it's very convenient for me to just press the clicking letters of a contact name and have it narrow down my contacts to the person i want. That way, i don't have to click on the contacts icon and start finding a name.I just took out the battery of my phone & put it in a couple minutes later because of some other issues, & now i can no longer do that anymore! I press buttons when i'm on the home screen and nothing happens; there isn't the convenient shortcut to finding/narrowing down a contact anymore.
View 11 Replies View RelatedA friend is having troubles with his Z3 : He used to take pictures with the quick camera launch button, but since a recent camera or system update, when he use this button, the camera is set to automatic mode instead of manual, with poor resolution and quality settings. If he launches the camera with the standard button from the phone menu, everything is fine and perfectly set up.
When the camera is used from the quick button and set back to the correct quality settings and manual mode, after closing it, it goes back to auto mode with bad settings. Same thing when he slides the camera icon from the locked screen. The only way to get the proper settings when launching the camera is to use the icon from the phone's menu.
He tried a lot of things, from uninstalling the camera updates to searching everywhere on the internet, there is no information or messages about this problem.
My power button is completely dead. I can neither switch off or switch on phone nor can i out it to sleep widout third party app.
I need to unlock bootloader and root phone but all methods need a working power button.. Any way i can do this widout power button jus by using pc and command window ?

I am extremely satisfied with the stock marshmallow (MRA58N) . The only thing that bothers me is that I need to save my power button (random power off issue when pressing power button, may fail completely in near future). Right now I am using gravity screen app to use my proximity sensor to wake the device. This does not work all the time. I end up using the power button.I know almost all the custom rom out there supports volume rocker to wake. But I dont want to move to custom rom. So the way is to root. So here is my question

So, the 6P is a sodding big phone and I have fairly small hands.
Switching on to an unlocked state using the fingerprint reader is easy. Switching off requires the power button, which means wrestling the damn thing into a position where I can press the button.
I've looked at a few apps that switch off the screen with a shake or gesture, but these always result in a pattern request to unlock fully when turning back on with the fingerprint reader. Looking at this thread, it seems the Nova Launcher double-tap off function results in the same secondary security challenge when switching back on.
I assume this is because the third-party double-tap/shake/gesture event is only turning the screen off, not actually locking the device as the power button would.
I got this second hand nexus 5 with Marshmallow installed. I was wondering why m headset with button for play/pause is not working it all. It came from my Xperia phone before and it is working just fine for play/pause/forward and backward... It is MH750 with single button.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy N5 has a hardware fault where the phone thinks the power button is permanently pressed, so as soon as you try and boot it, it turns off again.
I am able to get to fastboot, by holding down the volume down button and power. But from there, I cannot boot to recovery or normal system boot.
I have been unable to fix this, and I really want to get some of my app data off. Is there a way of extracting a backup somehow from fastboot? I'm guessing no, as you can't access via adb through fastboot?
My Nexus 5 power button recently started getting stuck and is now completely stuck down so it goes into boot loop,
My question is, if I remove the power button from the board completely will I still be able to boot it using ADB ?
