I bought a Desire S a couple of weeks ago. The phone is great but the battery life is terrible. If it is charged to 100% first thing in the morning it barely lasts til tea time before the red warning battery low comes on. I normally send about 50 - 60 texts during that period and hardly make phone calls or go online

My settings state I have 2.78gb available on my sD card and 16.09mb on my phone. I only have 15 apps downloaded of which 9 are on the SD card - the others won't move. I regularly "clear data" from apps. I hardly have any text messages saved, apart from one thread of 3000 messages that I'm slowly deleting my way thru!
My HTC Desire keeps shutting down by itself without warning. At first, I thought I must be touching the button as I put it into my holster, but it has now done it just sitting on the table.

I don't know if this is normal, but my Nokia 5230 doesn't warn me that the battery is low and needs to be recharged. All the cell phones I had in the past gave same kind of sound warning that the battery was running low, but not Nokia 5230. Today, I overslept again, because the battery died during the night and the alarm won't work on a dead battery.Is there a way to activate some kind of sound warning? Or where can I check the battery status? Couldn't find that either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor starters, my battery indicator does not seem to work. Even taking that into account, I manually check it constantly and it's at 100%. It never goes below that because the phone just suddenly goes black (and dead) every single day. There is no warning, nothing. So, I will recharge it and it shows that it IS charging though it will again be fully charged in about two hours. It is on the charger overnight, but will suddenly go totally black/dead every late afternoon without fail. Today, it happened even while I was typing. No, I haven't bought a new battery - I have taken it out and put it back in. I'm not convinced the battery is the problem.

With other phones I've owned,I usually have at least half an hour of battery life from when the first low battery warning is displayed. Do any other Omnia owners have the same problem? I'm wondering if this a problem with the phone or the battery?

On my new SGSII Skyrocket from AT&T, the battery indicator is inaccurate. From my observation, when I fully charge my phone and then take it off the charger, the battery indicator stays at 100%, even after some use. I was not able to reliably determine when it finally realizes the battery isn't fully charged, but most importantly this incorrect "fully charged" reading impacts the phones ability to recharge - since it thinks its fully charged it wont recharge! This is not a bug in the battery app, I tried a few, so I think it is a firmware bug.The workaround is to power cycle the phone after a little use, it starts back up with a correct battery reading and will recharge the battery when you plug it in.My battery life is about 4 hours, btw, so I'm constantly recharging....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Lumia 1020 for about 11 months now and today it stopped charging. If I try to turn on the phone, I can see the low battery indicator. Then the phone will proceed to turn off after a few seconds. I have tried a soft reset by holding down power and volume down at the same time. I can feel a small vibration after 6 seconds of doing this, but otherwise nothing happens. I have tried 2 different chargers, as well as connecting to the USB in the computer.

This warning immediately stops the video recording, while there is more than enough power left to finish what I wanted to record (a band's performance). This is very annoying. Also, no luck in pushing the sim cover off. I was worried the screen was going to crack due to the pressure I was exerting. I have a Desire and the cover on that is a doddle to remove?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this has been mentioned on here before, there is a bug which makes the operating system power hungry all the time, it seems to cause the phone to lag if you try to run more than one thing at once, another thing you might notice is when opening the Gallery the pictures take ages to load. If you want to try changing the setting which cures all the above go to: menu, settings, applications, development then select USB Debugging. Give it a try, you can always change it back again if you're not convinced, I've found Gallery now loads almost instantly, boot up time is really quick, all screens are completely smooth when navigating around, never lags, Iplayer works much better and best of Battey life is massively better. There is another app to show how much power various parts of the phone is using, before the operating system was always around 35% for me, now its always around 2%. Just thought people might like to give it a try!

Had my HTC Desire for about a week now; brilliant phone Although the battery life is not poor (lasts about a day and a half/ two days with little use), when I check to see what is draining the battery, it seems to always be maps that is the culprit, even though I am now (knowingly) using the maps application or GPS etc.
I have done a little research and it seems that is could be the 'use wireless networks' option that is causing this so I have just now disabled this and will see how it goes. Any reasons as to why maps might be showing up as using the largest (if not, second largest) chunk of battery power?
I've read the initial charge just needs make the charging indicator turn green as the current is switched off by the phone then. Part way through the first charge I identically turned it on, I shut it down straight away, will this cause a problem with the battery capacity? I've read it should be a constant charge or are battries these days much more robust?

I can't see them in Gallery any more. Luckily due to the backup software Astro, i have got my Pictures back but I can't locate my videos anywhere. To remind you, I just transferred them, not deleted them from mobile.

It had issues after the update, but i formatted the whole device (first the memory card, second the mass memory, and third the c: ) and it seems to be workin a lot better. However, the inbuilt themes look dull. I went to www.mibile9.com and downloaded a couple of s60v5 themes. While installing, i get a warning, 'application is incompatible with this device. Continue anyway?' would it be safe to install these? I know they're not viruses because a friend installed them on his 5800XM with no problems. I'm wonderin if installing an 'incompatible' theme would make my N97 suck again. I've got another question. As far as i know, the 5800XM and the N97 use the same OS. The themes installed fine on my friend's XM, with no warnings (other than application is untrusted). Why am i receivin the incompatible warning on the N97 then? Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder :-)
