HTC Desire :: External Microphone For Video Recording?
Nov 16, 2010
I have a burning question which only needs a simple yes or no! Next month I can get a new cellphone and were it not for the horrendous soundquality when recording video, I would definately take an HTC Desire (HD or not). But the sound of the HD video's is so dramatically bad I am thinking about taking a Samsung instead. Except...Is it possible to attach an external 3.5mm or USB microphone to this device to use it for videorecording? I thought I saw this with the iPhone, but Im allergic to Apple. So is it possible to record video using an external microphone?
I Dan on YouTube record audio on a Lumia 950 with a USB external mic, and I was thinking if this was possible to do in the camera app when doing video, either through USB OTG or the audio jack.
I am using the 950XL at my work and love it. Recently I bought a USB Microphone (Rode Podcaster). It works really well while using it to record voice-interviews with the audio recorder..but while shooting video the phone uses the internal mic instead of the external!?
Microsoft Sweden tells me the video-app does not support external microphones and do not have any solution getting around the problem.
This just can't be right?! Why having a high-end phone with a beautiful camera and USB OTG and do not letting it to support external microphones in video???? In situations like this I actually feel a bit stupid not going for an iPhone.
Have Microsoft simply forgotten to unlock something in the code for the video-app? It just don't make any sense.
I've tried to connect an external microphone so I can use my Droid 4 to record high quality video podcasts, but the video apps don't appear to allow input from anything other than the internal microphone. Even a bluetooth microphone. Other droids allow allow high quality microphones. The microphone adapters that work on the Samsung Droid Charge (and the iphone) don't work on Droid 4. It appears to have a different microphone wiring configuration.
I just bought the xperiaz 5 and i cant record voice message or video on the camera.. I had rest the phone and it was ok for a day and now its the same.. in the video on the camera app its says that i have error and a other app i using the function
I am trying to take video of a real estate property and I do not need to collect the audio - in fact I do not want any audio captured - can I mute the micrphone while taking vido?
As far as I can see by defaul Xperia Z5 use microphone from connected wired headset to record audio for video stream. In this case i have some questions:
will it use mic from connected bluetooth headset?what kind of stereo microphones are supported?i should by only sony external microphone or can use any stereo mic with 3.5 jack?Â
Updated my phone to 2.29.405.5 the other day and noticed that video recording has gone from atrocious to down right intolerable. When they enabled 720p recording video became choppy but the sound was kinda alright now after the current update all my videos are coming out like one of those kung fu movies, voice and lips are not in sync and the sound is crap.
I'm wondering if it will be possible to connect a high-quality microphone to the N8 via usb. I can't find out what current can be supplied by the device nor what currents are required by available usb microphones.
I'm trying to find a cable to connect a 3.5mm external lapel microphone to the iphone4. There are threads which mention a KV Connections cable, but some people seem to have had problems with this. Anyone actually successfully using their iphone4 with an external 3.5mm mic?
Just to confirm you can get a microphone into a nokia n8/e7. To do this you will need to use a CA-75u which comes with any n series nokia. It is a three way RCA (phono) split giving you a yellow white and red RCA to a 3.5mm (mini) jack.
Once you have your CA-75u you will need to plug your microphone to start with into the red RCA and in the software make sure your default accessory is the headset. Then you plug the mic into the red RCA and then the 3.5mm jack in the top it should ask you which type of connection you want, select headset. Now take the mic and plug it into the into the yellow RCA. Now you can use sound recorder to record from the mic!.
This is obviously a work around and it would be much easier for nokia to produce a microphone interface or even better bring out a usb x/y configuration microphone like the zoom recorders use. Come on nokia give me a new gadget,Some notes about mics and connections into an RCA.Electret mini mics should be fine, but I am personally using a lo impedance condenser microphone which has internal power (battery) such as a AKG C1000 or Audio Technika AT33a I myself am using a sennheiser shotgun from the early 90's.To make the correct connection from an XLR plug to the RCA you will need to create a mono lead the easiest way to do this is to connect the white or cold or pin 3 on the XLR to the screen or pin 1 on the XLR. Then terminate them to to the screen or outer part of the RCA. Then terminate the red or hot or pin two on the XLR to the center of the RCA. Alternatively go to maplins or radio shack and buy one.
My microphone for Siri and typing text by speaking is not working. It works using Google, and when using voice memo. I've been told that it may be a firmware issue. I have the latest upgrade. (It's and Iphone 5.)
reduce the audio recording level for video shoots?Cause if its just a little loud, the whole soundtrack gets distorted.Another nice one would be if we could get the noise cancellation mic thats next to the headphone plug to record a second audio track, making it stereo..
My iPhone 4S was dropped in some ranch dressing with the microphone & external speaker part getting the worst of it! I tried making a phone call to a friend of mine and she couldn't hear me. She said that all she heard was clicking noises. (I talked to her later in person!) I also tried playing music through the external speaker and with the volume on as high as it can go, you can hardly hear the music from the speaker. Weird thing is that I sent a friend of mine a Hey Tell message and he said that he heard me crystal clear!! I set my phone in rice overnight and nothing helped so far. Not sure what else to do!! I don't have a warranty on my phone!
I have a Galaxy S6 edge on T-Mobile and juts noticed this morning that whenever I attempt to record a video I get a warning stating "The video codec is currently being used by other applications..."
Is it possible to determine which application has it in use? I've closed all running applications which didn't resolve the problem. Restarted the phone without starting any other applications before the camera and that failed. I'm not seeing any information about this issue in the couple of searches I've done so far but wonder if it's an isolated issue or something common.
Short of a Factory Reset, which I'm not fully opposed to doing, is there a potential solution?
If I receive a call during recording a video, the video gets lost. Can I change settings or is there any solution to save the video before accepting the call? Or is it simply a flaw in the software that the video is not saved automatically?
i believe i found a bug with 3.1. videocamera pauses while video recording when a live paper is being used when wallpaper is just a picture than it works properly.
Having trouble playing video from browsers with an external player, or even changing the internal player? I've tried Dolphin, Chrome, and stock browsers, and MX and stock players. But I can't even get an option to play outside the browsers as I did on my trusty old CM driven S4! Is it a Lollipop issue?
I have been using Sony Xperia Z2 for some weeks now and I noticed that the video camera is not working. Anytime I click on it, it shows me error that the camera is not available.
When i'm video filming outside , I want to connect an external microphone to my N8. Because the the wind gives a disturbing noise when using the internal mic.I've an Nokia ca-75u connection cable to connect an external mic to the N8. It works with the sound recorder program and the Alon dictaphone. But when I start video filming with the camera the N8 seems to switch to internal mic automaticly. Is there a way ( Usb, CA-75u, bleutooth) to connect an external mic to the n8 when you are using the camera for video filming?
I have some questions about the iPhone 4 and would appreciate your input please.
1) Does anyone know the specs for the HD video recording for the iPhone 4? 1080p or?
2) What kind of cable will I need to transfer the photos and video I take with an iPhone 4 to my Macbook Pro? And is that cable included with the iPhone 4?
3) Does the iPhone 4 have a screw-in thing where I can attach a tripod?
4) I was going to buy a Kodak Z18 HD video camera to film some instructional videos because it records nice HD 1080p video, has an external mic input and costs only $150.00. Does anyone know if the iPhone 4 will be able to do video that is as good as the Kodak Z18?
5) Does anyone know if I can use a external wireless mic with an iPhone 4 and can you recommend one?
i got my phone about 2 months ago. it worked fine for about a month, and then, just like that, it started to freeze in the middle of the recording for about 2-3 secs, then started rec ok, and agaian freezed for 2-3 secs and so on. After i downloaded the movie and played it, it played the same as the recording(with the freezed sections, but with sound). I checked the sw version(the last one), i changed the card, i formatted it. The problem(for now) is solved by taking down the recording quality, but i dont want this to be a permanent solution.
