As battery life is one of the main problems with nexus and presumably white on black text uses less battery than black on white, I am surprised that most google apps don't have this as an option.
I'm noticing some battery drain during the night on my nexus 5 even when my phone is in airplane mode.. I charged it to 100 then took it off the charger and turned airplane mode on. When I woke up it was at 95 percent.. I know it's not a huge chunk of battery but isn't that still bad for it being in airplane which is supposed to turn off all the radios? I could of swore when I did this last week it only dropped one percent, why the sudden jump? And Google play services was the top thing draining battery according to my phone stat settings..
After updating to Android L, I noticed I could not switch my location setting to Battery Saving. I was wondering if this is a bug with L or if I'm doing something wrong...
Yesterday I did an update to several programs including Google and noticed major battery drain. I was not sure which program did it but checked Battery in Settings and saw it was the screen causing the drain. Apparently when the Google program updated, it changed the setting for automatic brightness adjustment to ON. I turned it off and the battery is fine. I keep brightness set to about one quarter to one third brightness. I think the battery life is great and I can easily get thru the day.
Nexus 5, 16GB, MRA58N (stock, not rooted). Sometimes the power percentages shown for each process in the battery monitor do not add up to the total battery drain? I am finding that sometimes they add up to within 1% of the total shown.... and sometimes they are WAY off with as much as 30% of the displayed battery drain unaccounted for. Since I don''t have access to the battery terminals, I can't determine independently whether the percentages shown are simply inaccurate, or whether there are missing processes (ie., processes not shown at all in the battery monitor).
I can get to "start, recovery, bootloader (?)" page, but cannot select with volume button. When i press start, it just starts in safe mode. tried to shut down and start again (both by pressing power off by touch screen and holding the off button down). Did get to the menu that offers factory reboot and the like, but again, couldn't select anything with the volume button.
Running LMY48M. I am trying to enter recovery mode to wipe cache and all I get is the stupid robot on his back saying no command. I have tried volume up and power button no menu comes up... Phone is starting to have some quirks and figured I would try wiping cache before anything else.
I have my Nexus set to "all", but every so often I will see the little star at the top and realize it has changed to priority mode. Why it is happening?
My nexus 5 got stuck in airplane mode so I could neither send texts or make and recieve phone calls. Have already sent it to be fixed with sucess however a week later it stopped working again. Tried a hard reset but it has not worked.
My camera has gotten slow in hdr mode. Meaning, I hit the shutter and maybe 2 seconds later it begins the process of taking the picture. It didn't use to be this slow...In non-hdr it's fast, as it always has been. I cleared cache on the camera app, no change...
A colleague of mine (yes honestly it wasnt me) reported that his Nexus 5 was stuck with as he put it "the wee android man in the middle of the screen" Then, before he give the phone to me to look at he said that he had tried some things with images to get it to work but it didnt work. so truthfully i am not sure what he has done or not done but the phone is stuck as follows:
When you turn the phone on you have the android robot which looks like it is doing an update.
I have gone into bootloader where I have the option to Start, Recovery Mode, Restart Bootloader and Power Off. The lock state in the Fastboot mode shows unlocked.
No matter which option you take (Even Recovery) it just goes back to the android screen that looks like it is trying to update....i cant get to the android with the exclamation mark that would allow me to do a factory reset. At this stage of the game im not worried about any lost data etc.
I'd love to enable the diagnostic mode in my Nexus 5 so that I can trace the radio interface with software such as QXDM, X-CAL, etc... but I've had no luck so far.
basically I'm trying to change the variable sys.usb.config to [diag, adb] as shown in this post for the Nexus 4. I'm doing:
(if you run getprop you see that the correct order is sys.usb, not usb.sys as shown in that post)
However, when I enter this command the phone automatically reboots... and the value is reverted back to [mtp, adb].
Do you know of any 'friendlier' way to enable diag mode on the Nexus 5? For example, in the Galaxy S4 you can just dial *#0808# to get into the USB config menu, which easily allows you choose the DM mode... but I can't find a similar menu on the Nexus 5.
Seems a bit absurd to me that a developer-oriented phone is the hardest one to put in diag mode... I am rooted...
Why does Facebook completely ignore priority mode? I have it set up for bo notifications apart from calls at night time and yet every morning when I wake up (or if I wake up in the night) there's a bloody blue flashing light for a Facebook notification!! How to stop it?
2.Cannot access recovery mode from fastboot : shows google logo and black screen (no inverted android)
3.When selecting Start from fastboot : only google logo appears and then black screen (not even the marshmallow boot animation)
Things Tried :
1.Phone was able to ring from android device manager. Tried erase from there. No response
2.Tried flashing the stock rom still no response.
What might be the issue ? Is the internal memory corrupted ?The phone boots up able to hear screen shot sound but still black screen..The LG customer care replaced the flex cable and it works now. It costs 1600INR (around 15$)
I got a nexus 5 that won't boot into recovery or download mode. What can i do? I'm not sure if it has custom recovery or original.
When i try to boot with VOL-DOWN+POWER it shows google logo and then a constant red light on the home button. if i take my fingers off it will just power off.
When i try to boot with VOL-UP+POWER it shows google logo and then a flashing red light on the home button. if i take my fingers off it will just power off.

My phone stuck on the circles dots that spins i gave it like 30 mints and nothing, when i try to plug it in the PC i dont have the drivers and when i try to get in the recovery mode i get the no command massage....
I'm using an N5 with stock 5.01, rooted with twrp. During the night I used to use a tasker profile for when sleeping that did pretty much what priority Mode does by allowing my started contacts calls and messages to get through and alert me. With priority Mode now available, I use tasker to just trigger that instead.
But I'm having an issue with my messages. I use Handcent as my default messaging app and when I get an sms from a starred contact when in priority Mode it does not sound. I installed google messenger to check and when it's set to default messaging app I get the notification since no issues. Switch back to Handcent and no luck again.
I use Handcent because I like the pop up alert in it, but more so because I can schedule sms messages for a particular time, which is a feature I do use a bit. So if rather not change from it. Why the alert doesn't sound in Handcent during priority Mode.
"keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "only when plugged in" - it worked like a charm in lollipop (it switched off wifi after some seconds of disactivity), it doesn't now.
In lollipop after some seconds of inactivity wifi was turned off, that was proper behavior I guess... It is not working in Marshmallow.
Somehow today I manage to enter the Tutorial mode on my Nexus 5 phone and cannot find how to disable. This is hugely frustrating and makes the phone next to useless.
step 4 is where things get funky, when I tell bootloader to load recovery mode the phone restarts and then boots normally.I've been hacking at this for a few hours, and ended up loading the boot.img file more than once (see steps below) -- the original attempt worked and would access recovery mode the "load from zip" option wasn't available to I started tinkering, at one point I told it to restart from recovery mode -- it listed updating 7 files after which it had flashed itself back to factory defaults.I then flashed the boot loader a 2nd time it stopped accessing recovery mode
since then I've tried - download Quick Boot app (crashes when trying to load recovery mode) - flashed with fresh factory image - numerous attempts to restart into bootloader - voodoo chanting (not really but that's next)
Today I've suddenly started getting a grey pop up with the following text:You must enable sleep mode in "Settings" -> "Sleep settings" settings screen.I haven't changed anything or installed anything new so not sure what's going on.
My nexus 5 running into issues again. . It automatically goes to silent mode. After increasing the volume again it goes back to silent mode. I can see the volume bar decreasing from full to vibration in front my eyes.
Also sometimes the power button won't work for sometime.
If I tried to reboot, it automatically goes into recovery mode without pressing any combination of keys. Once I press volume button it goes into one of the recovery settings and gives a message NO COMMAND
After multiple hits of power button or some combination will boot the phone into safe mode sometimes.. Now I am stuck with its issue of automatically turns into vibration mode. I am worried to reboot because it may stuck in recovery.
I used to have this issue in lollipop and got fixed in marshmallow.. But recent patch fix update in December gives the problem again.
My nexus won't boot, after click to turn on, is stuck on logo of google. I can not access to recovery mode, neither to download mode, anything..
I've tried reinstalling the rom via LG mobile support tool, but the software does not even detect the nexus, but in device manager is identified and the driver installed correctly .. I do not know what to do ..
I loaded 5.1 from the images on googles site. All works great except when I boot the phone and am in airplane mode, I get a no Sim card error. As soon as I turn off airplane mode, it goes away. How to clear this? Note I did not factory reset when I loaded. I did not want to loose all of my data.
Just got a nexus 5. I switched the location settings to battery saver but if I turn off location it defaults back to high accuracy mode when I turn it back on which drains my battery quickly.
So I've had lollipop since the Dev preview was released and I had less bugs on the preview than the final release. After side loading lollipop my phone randomly restarts itself and goes into loop. It gets to the point that when I try to get into recovery mode I can't make it to the restart boot loader screen without my phone constantly restarting.
Eventually it stops after a few minutes or up to a few hours. When this cycle occurs and I plug it into the charger the cycle gets even worse. My phone was unusable for over 5 hours yesterday. I've tried restoring it but no luck. What do I do !?
