Google Nexus 5 :: Lollipop Caller ID Pictures On Incoming Call
Nov 17, 2014
I have received a half dozen or so phone calls since I upgraded to Lollipop, and so far every call that I've had has a caller ID picture assigned in contacts, but none have shown up with a picture while the call is actually ringing my phone.
Has Google removed caller ID pictures on incoming calls, or is there something else going on here?
I just install the factory image for lollipop. My screen doesn't turn on when I receive incoming calls. The ring tone will play but the screen remain turned off. I want the screen to turn on automatically with the incoming call dialer like kitkat or any other android version. so I can pick up the call.
so every now and then I'll be having a conversation and I'll get a call or text and my phone is not on silent or vibrate and my favorite ringtone starts blaring. Since I'm in the middle of a conversion I'd like to just reach into my pocket, hit one of the buttons and stop the ringtone/notification from playing. This doesn't seem to work out of the box. I'm a bit new to android phones (finally got fed up with iPhone) so I know there is probably an app or setting that will let me do this, but I can't find it.
I have this issue a couple of times where I am getting a incoming call as I can here my ringtone but nothing is displaying on the screen so I can't answer it.
I started having this issue two days ago. I only receive text messages when I answer an incoming call. I answer, and then all the texts since the previous call arrive with their vibrate notifications.
I am using Textra on stock unrooted 6.0 with the bootloader unlocked.
I downloaded the latest update for the Blackberry Torch (6.0) and I cannot charge my phone. I have tried to charge via a USB port and several wall outlets. I have removed the battery (following possible solutions found on this forum) - while the phone is on, with it turned off, and while it was plugged into a wall socket. It displays the charging icon for a few moments and then stops charging. Also, my phone does not always show the caller ID of an incoming call. I have edited my contacts list on several occasions to have each contact saved as +11234567 and 1234567. I have reformatted the phone twice since purchasing. I was so excited about this phone when it came out, bought it shortly after release.
Since updating Lollipop to 5.1, Google Now will not recognize contacts with voice. It repeatedly gives me the response, "You don't have contact details for ___." I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail.
My caller ID has stopped working on my Nexus 6 when I get a call although in my contacts list the name doesn't display same when I'm trying to send a message when I search contact does not come up, comes up after a few minutes
I just installed Nameless ROM and am having trouble setting the CPU speeds. I've tried with Device control (built in) and then with No Frills CPU, both with root access, and have not had any success setting my CPU speed. When I set anything on minimum, I exit the app and when I return it goes back to its original value (1574). Same thing with No Frills. I have BusyBox installed and the latest version of SuperSu. I do not have a custom Kernel, but my experience in the past has been quite similar with Franco Kernel and ElementalX kernel across a number of different ROMs.
Yesterday i have received Android 5.0 update on Nexus 5 and since then the mp3 ringtone that I had set isn't used for the calls. Instead, default ringtone is being used.
I've got some random reboots after upgrading on stock Lollipop 5.1 on my Nexus 5.I've used Android 5.0.1 without any reboots or problem, but after upgrading on 5.1 I'm facing many random reboots when I switch from an app (like a game or Hangouts) using Recents or Home button from NavBar (it also happens randomly when I'm using my phone, like writing a message on Hangouts). The reboots I'm talking about are not "soft" but "hard", because bootloader's logo (Google) appears and restarts my phone, so it is caused by Kernel Panic (as you'll see in my last_kmsg) and they occured on both stock and custom rom.
How much free RAM are you guys seeing on your N5's after the lollipop update?
After a fresh boot, and opening an app or two, my free memory is running between 250-450mb. After I open too many apps, some won't open, or others start closing. I am handicapped in using my beloved N5.
Andriod Ver - 5.0 Swiftkey Ver - 5.0.5.95 Phone - Google Nexus 5 (32 gb)
I received the Lollipop update yesterday and since then have also updated Swiftkey. Swiftkey randomly stopped working this morning. When I try to type anywhere the keyboard doesn't open up, I've tried this on the Google search bar, Whatsapp, Snapchat and Notes and all had the same result. On going to the Swiftkey description page from the Input Settings, even the Swiftkey info stays for a few seconds and then it automatically closes. If i got to the settings from the Apps tab in Settings then I can view the app info. I switched to the Google Keyboard and everything is fine.
So I flashed the final build of Lollipop on my Nexus 5, worked great for the first couple of days, now I'm getting a camera error, saying failed to connect to the camera. This only happens with the front-facing camera, and it works fine after a reboot but problem comes back after a day or two.
Back when I had an S3, the same thing would happen, but with the rear camera, I thought it was a hardware issue but now I'm thinking maybe not, since it's happening right after flashing a new OS this time (can't remember if the problem on my S3 was after an OTA, or maybe after rooting and going custom ROM)
I have not updated my N5 to Lollipop for about a week after i got the system update available notification. Now the notification does not show up any more, even i check the System updates in "about phone". So now I am unable to update my N5 by downloading the OTA update. How could i get back this system update notification?
I can't delete a new contact on the Nexus 5. Quick synopsis of what's going on: Go to > contacts > name of contact. Contact has Star, + contact Icon, and 3 vertical dots on the far right with "Share & Place on Home Screen" why an already created contact with name has a "+ contact" icon. All other contacts have a "pencil" contact that I can tap and then hit delete on. How do I delete this contact? I just recently added it by hitting the save contact when I received a tex.
Is there any way to remove the swipe from left to right pulling up the dialer? I just pocket dialed today for the first time.I don't really want to have to enter a pin, or a pattern, or anything like that. Ideally, I'd like to just remove that option from the lock screen.
I have Google Calendar running on both my iPhone and Nexus 5. I get notifications on my iPhone but not my Nexus 5. I've been through every setting I can find but nothing has worked. I don't have SMS notifications enabled.
I just received a notification to update my rooted Nexus 5 to Lollipop. It downloaded the 440 megabytes and prompted for a reboot.
But it didn't rebooted. Instead, I got a menu from Team Project with some options. I just hit the "reboot" button and it rebooted to Android 4.4.4. Look like I have lost the lollipop update??! When I go back to check for an update, it says my device is up to date.
Why the Team Project menu showed??! What should I have done? Why the update is lost?
I wanted to test marshmallow so I decided flash xtra smoth rom by daniel84cs.as I am coming from lollipop so I flashed bootloader and radio of marshmallow but then I stuck into bootloop somehow I managed to get my backup restored now I am back to lollipop as I have done a factory rest before restoring so I should need to flash lollipop bootloader and radio again or I am good to go?
I am currently running Resurrection Remix MM version. I would like to downgrade back to 511. Can I just flash a lollipop rom through recovery or I need to flash system image of lollipop first?
I'm on stock 5.1 Lollipop (Rooted) and I have a problem with some apps like for instance instagram, When you open the app and scroll up fast and reach the top, it suddenly scrolls down by itself
Here is a video: [URL] ......, people on 5.1 Lollipop can try it out and see if they have that problem too. I also made a bug report over at Google Code...
I flashed the factory images last night effectively wiping my Nexus 5 and starting from scratch. I did not restore apps and settings either. After I manually installed a bunch of my apps back and changed around a few settings, I decided to enable encryption. However, I don't think it enabled properly.
First, I had not set a PIN lock on my phone yet at the time. When I decided to enable encryption and go through the process, it didn't ask me to enter a PIN. It seemingly completed encrypting the phone. When I go back to the security menu, it says "Encrypted". However, I am not prompted to enter a PIN upon booting the phone (not talking about the lock screen PIN). So, it seems like it didn't work but I'm not sure. I saw the performance degradation that comes with enabling encryption but I'd rather have the security.
I've been having issues with my rear camera on Nexus 5 (my front facing camera works fine). Currently the camera and the flash will not work and basically stopped working some time around the upgrade to lollipop. While on lollipop, I tried uninstalling the app updates, restarting, clearing the cache... Now, I'm currently running 6.0 and still the camera/flash are not working. Tonight I tried wiping the phone and reverting all the way back to kitkat 4.4.4 to see if that would fix it. I tried this multiple times, wiping and reflashing to various versions ranging from 4.4.0 to 6.0 to see if any would somehow fix the camera issue, but none worked.
At this point, I'm back on 6.0 and its still not working. My phone doesn't even show the default camera app in the app drawer. I have to access it through the shortcut on the lock screen and when I do I get the "Can't connect to the camera" message. I'm assuming its a hardware issue at this point. From what I can tell, the flash is not part of the camera module, so if the camera itself broke, it seems like the camera flash should still be recognized and functional (its not in my case, not even an option for the default flashlight on the taskbar pull-down screen). I am wondering if its worth buying an oem replacement camera module and installing it to see if this fixes the issues.
I have run out of space on my phone. (Again. Why can't I add an sdcard to this nexus thing dammit?) I'm going through the Storage sections under Settings, picking and choosing what I want to keep and discard. There's a number of items appearing in Downloads that I want to move to my PC, but I can't find the files and the only commands available are Open, Delete and Share. How do I locate the items so can copy them?My phone is not rooted and is running Lollipop 5.1.1.

A few weeks after installing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, I began having issues with my Nexus 5. When I go to turn on the Wifi in the settings menu, the toggle switch is grayed-out and I can't use it. Instead of the phone finding connections, I just get the constant dialogue that says "turning wifi on." This just stays like that and I can't use any wifi functionality. I've tried fixes like installing custom ROMS (I tried Paranoid Android and CyanogenMod). I tried rebooting and factory resetting. I even called Google's customer service line and they were unable to fix the issue.
