Sep 10, 2015To conserve battery should this be checked? I've heard that if you check the box it runs your battery down quicker.

BB Bold :: 9900 Auto-Dim Backlight Always On
Jan 9, 2011I have a BB 9900 with OS 7.1.0.694 and the Auto Dim Backlight feature adjusts the brightness of my screen, even when the box is unchecked in Options/Display. Is there a way to deal with this OTHER than reinstalling the OS?

Mar 1, 2015I've had my SGS5 for a month now - great phone.
But suddenly today the backlight went out, i pulled the battery, waited a couple of minutes, reinserted it and turned the phone back on.
I can barely see the Samsung logo, it looks like the screen is set to 1% brightness (as close to complete dark as it will go). I hear the boot sound, but it's just to dark/black to do anything from here.
Is my device faulty? I cant enter recovery mode because it's nearly pitch black.
Galaxy S5 :: Backlight Only Works When Max After Getting Wet
Dec 25, 2014My sister has an S5 and got it wet. She thought it was dead but turns out the backlight only works now when it is turned all the way up. The issue with thar is that max brightness drains the battery quite well. Any way of fixing the backlight? I tried Lux auto brightness and that just turned the brightness down, which made the light turn off as it does when adjusted manually.

May 6, 2015I got an S6 Edge Gold phone last week and noticed a weird duplication of backlight reflections of the capacitive keys.
There is an original light, and then there are two more reflections which is very weird. I can tell they are reflections because as I tilt the phone those two reflections change angles while the original light stays in its spot.
The issue is also with the notification color lights. When ever it blinks I see two reflections (one above and one below). So it looks like a grain of rice instead of a small circle.

My inspection of the device tells me that theres something wrong when the different layers of glasses were stacked. I have looked at some other Edge phones and they don't have this issue.
I have also seen that when very bright light shines in all angles and when the phone is tilted (with screen turned off) and observed carefully I see diagonal lines on the entire screen with a space of about 5mm each. It is very hard to see them, and when I turn the screen on I can't see any flaw.

Nov 14, 2015I have the TMobile S6 variant that I've had for about 6 months or so and noticed a few weeks back that that auto brightness does not work. it stays very very low even in very bright settings, I always have to go in a manually change th3 screen brightness. Is there a fix for this in an update or something because I seem to be the only one with an S6 having the issue although it has been reported for the Edge only.

May 26, 2014I got a new Galaxy S5 (first Galaxy S anything!) a few weeks ago and I love it. Unfortunately, however, I discovered a very annoying feature just now. While messaging my friend on the Android system messager, I was talking to another friend on Viber. So, since I don't have a bluetooth or headset, I would periodically bring the phone down from my ear and respond to the message. The problem is, if I was still on the message screen and brought the phone back up to my ear to continue talking on Viber, the phone auto dials my friend on the messaging screen. So I accidentally dialed the friend I was messaging several times before I realized what was going on.

This could be a hardware or software problem. I performed a hard reset and reboot but the problem still occurs from time to time.
I didnt drop my phone and I removed the plastic of the camera lens and led flash, so that cant be the problem.

I keep switching it back on and then after a periods of time... Can't be specific but when I come out of an app or having been watching a video and go back to the homescreen it's really bright and the auto setting is off again.

Aug 3, 2015The phone constantly resets when trying to connect to unknown networks that require a password. It took me ages to figure out what was causing it and it's a real pain. You could just be walking down the street and it'll try to connect to a WiFi network that will kick off this constant resetting. You have about a second to turn WiFi off, before the process starts again.
I mention EE as they have their own software variant that enables WiFi calling in the UK, not sure if that's relevant?

Apr 28, 2015It seems my auto brightness is randomly turning off. Sometimes when the device is powered on and I'm using it and sometimes when its off. I don't know why my phone just decides to unchecked auto brightness but its annoying especially when I'm reading something and my phone just decides to blind me at random.

Jul 4, 2015I've had my S6 for nearly two weeks now, and I've noticed a strange trend when taking photos with the front camera. Things that are relatively up close such as my face end up being a tad blurry whereas everything in the background is nice, sharp, and detailed. No matter how I position my face in the shot, despite it recognizing my face, it just won't bring it into focus. After a few more shots, it doesn't look like the front is auto-focusing at all. I've checked all of the camera settings, and everything is defaulted except for Beauty mode which I have set to 0. How possible is it that this is a hardware defect?

Nov 16, 2015So my brand new s6 doesn't seem to auto dim the screen brightness.
If I hold it next to a lamp the brightness will increase, as expected, but when I turn off the lamp and the room is pitch dark, the screen brightness remains the same no matter how long I wait. However if I turn the screen off and on the brightness have decreased.
The light sensor is working. I have tried to adjust the slider in whatever position and been digging through the display settings with no luck.
I come from a Nexus 5 and I'm new to Samsung. It is NOT the edge model.

May 5, 2014I have paired my bluetooth device to Galaxy S5. No issues. If I go into my settings and select bluetooth, I see my device list as the only "paired device"
EVERY morning, I have to go into my bluetooth settings and click the _only_ paired device to connect. When I do, it connects with no issues.
All I want the S5 to do is connect when it gets in range (in range since bluetooth is always on).
I doesn't do this by itself. Why? I do not have any issues pairing. It just doesn't auto connect.

When I get a call from clients and I'm away from my phone and don't answer it, it automatically sends back a couple of the pre-created text messages. I've had a couple people asking me if I'm on vacation because they've received the responses "I'm in a movie theater" and "I'm driving" both at the same time on several occassions. May 11, 2015I have a Galaxy S5 with Lollipop through AT&T and had Best Buy install my Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. I updated the Pioneer firmware, set it up to look for Android Auto on USB2, Android Auto is set to start automatically, and I have the phone and Pioneer connected via Bluetooth. However, when I plug the micro-USB into the phone, all it does is start charging; nothing pops up saying the phone isn't compatible or anything else and I don't get the Android Auto ToS message. When I pull up the AV menu on the Pioneer, neither the USB1 nor USB2 icons are lit up. I've tried plugging the phone in with and without the Android Auto application installed. I double-checked and Best Buy did plug the USB into USB2 using the USB cable from the box. USB Debugging is enabled on the phone.

May 18, 2014I have a S5, the screen would just auto turn on even after lock. I have tried everything in setting but none can stop this. I have tried to move my hand above the sensor while it is locked, then the screen would turn on. The sensor would have a blue light first then the screen turn on.
Even the phone is in the bag or on the table while I am having meeting, the screen would just randomly turn on. It is very embarrassing while I am having important meeting and the phone is on the table. People may think I play phone or something like that.

Samsung Galaxy S II :: Auto-Rotate Not Working
Nov 19, 2011Had my SII for 3 days now and am loving it but as of 2 hours ago my screen will no longer auto-rotate.
Earlier, via orange swapables, I was watching skysports with the screen held horizontally with no problems at all. Even after that I was sending a message using swype (what a cool feature by the way), holding it horizontally.
Since then I've not been able to rotate the screen. It is set to on via the notifications panel and under the settings menu.
I've put a new Case Mate Tough Case on as of this morning but was watching the football after I had put the case on. I have since tried removing the case to see if it works without, but with no luck.
I've checked the firmware and stuff and am running all the latest versions.
I've done the keypad *#0*# and checked the sensor test page, accelerometer, gyroscope sensor and magnetic sensor are showing different figures as I move the phone around but the image test does not rotate.
Under settings > display I've ran the calibration tests and they all ran fine.
