Galaxy S5 :: Possible To Change Screen Lock Pin Without Doing Hard Reset
Aug 10, 2015
Is it possible to change the screen lock pin on a Galaxy S5 without doing a hard reset. I just starting using the feature today. I enter a pin and reconfirm it. Walked away from the phone and when I went back to it and enter the pin I chose it keep telling me "incorrect pin". Samsung and Google support are saying my only option is hard reset since your can no longer change it with Android device Manager and I do not have a "findmymobile" account setup already.
I received this phone from our inventory at work. I am not sure who used it before me. But, I do not know the lock pass code. How can I hard reset it without knowing the lock password. Everything I try, I am prompted for the lock password except one attempt. I held in the up arrow, shift key and back arrow while powering on. This did some type of reset. But, the lock password still is not 12345. So, either the lock password for Nokia N97 is not 12345 by default, or this is not a true hard reset?
So I did a hard reset and I knew that I'll lose the Ovi Store. What it's completely new for me is that now each time I'm starting the phone I am requested to input the lock code. I have given 12345 but a message saying "Code fail" is shown and afterwards the phone works normally.1. Does anybody know why12345 is not working anymore?2. Does anybody know how could I remove this request at startup?3. Does anybody know why the phone does react if I am inputting an incorrect code only with a message "Code fail" - I would have expected a lock after multiple inputs but everything is OK.4. Does anybody know how can I change this code? - without flashing it at Nokia Service Center (just too far from me). I'm curious if 10000 tries would bring something alhough I am not interested in such a test

So my fully updated S5 lock screen will disable itself randomly. I will have it on the swipe or code lock and several days later it will just auto put it back to no screen lock. Same is happening to my wife's S5 and we have a few same apps that we have had for a year. It could be several days to one day.
The instructions here:[URL]No longer work once you update the Atrix to the new SW.Instead, replace step #4 in this article with "press the up and down volume keys concurrently - a menu will come up" The rest of the procedure is correct.
I just purchased a new galaxy s5 and I cant change anything on the lock screen. I cant change the wallpaper, and I cant add a password to it. I've already gone to setting>lock screen but it only gives me two options : s view window color & weather unit.Ive already tired to do it straight from the gallery and setting it from there.Did I disable a widget ,or how can I get these basic functions?
I've been trying to change my lock screen on Samsung Galaxy S5.When I go into my Settings/Lock Screen the only options are under the heading Screen Security - Screen Lock and Owner Info.Is there any reason for my lack of settings options? My friend's able to change his lock screen and his Lock Screen Settings are completely different to mine.I am also unable to change the lock screen wallpaper - as when I select 'set as' no option is available for lock screen.
I'm having issues with my lock screen clock being delayed when I click on the home button so I wondered to workaround this if it's possible to change the actual lock screen clock widget?
I hated the screen lock on my G5 ( only had it on one day)so tried to get rid of it - typed in password - then I tried an option and it asked me to type in password again and confirm 2nd time. Maybe I tapped in something wrong which didn't match ( did it without my glasses) - but it annoyingly said wrong password now and keeps saying it's the wrong password. What now? I can't find anywhere how to turn screen lock or password off or to reset/forgotten password or the like. Who can I get in touch with if problem is bad. I don't want to factory reset and all that malarky. I've had the phone for nearly a year on my contract and what the hell made me do this stupid thing I don't know. There should be a caution warning on it. Is my phone going to lock me out once the lock sets in if I don't use the phone for 5mins or whatever the activation time was?
I have a Galaxy S5 and I have tried changing the lock screen wallpaper using the common method described (ie. tapping on a spot on homescreen and clicking set wallpaper for). The problem is, when I do that, it does not give me the option of homescreen/lockscreen, but says "select wallpaper from" (options: gallary, live wallpapers, wallpapers). When I choose from pics in my gallary, it automatically sets it as homescreen wallpaper (no option for lockscreen).
The only time it works for the lockscreen is when it's in the "wallpaper" folder (the one with preset Samsung wallpapers). I've tried looking for this folder to add pictures to it, but I can't seem to locate the folder. So, where this folder is located or better yet, know of another way in which to set the wallpaper for the lockscreen from the gallery or other folders?
I changed my background recently and stupidly ticked the "don't ask me to change the background on the lock screen again" box that appears when you change it.
Is there a way to get this back as I now want to change the lock screen background.
after installing the 5.1.1 update, my phone seemed to be a little laggy so I went into the recovery menu and did a factory reset. Everything works normally, except now after the reset, for some reason I can't change the screen grid size in the panel customization menu. The button that says "screen grid" is there, but it is now greyed out and I can't use it.
i was on facebook and my s6 just randomly shut of and now all I get a a black screen with the galaxy s6 on the screen. I just purchased this phone back in September.
I laid phone down today on a table. when I came back it would not recognize my fingerprint and I could not remember my code for when that happens. I usually write them down but forgot this time. so I did a hard reset of the phone and now I cant go any further in setting up phone. I put in my email address I used and it tells me to use an email account from which the phone had been synced before.i always use the same email but it still tells me that message had to change passwords etc to get into account but it still wont let me set up my phone..
I am not very well versed in computerspeak , and have never had to back up anything on my phone. I am having no luck in diagnosing a problem with my bluetooth(won't turn on) , Samsung has suggested doing a Hard re set ,in hopes of fixing the problem. I would like to back up ALL of my data , contacts , apps , texts , etc. , but have no idea on how to go about it. I did a search here and became even more confused ! Will I be backing up to a pc , if so will I need a physical connection , will I backup with KIEs , and again , how is this done , and what , if any apps should I get to make my life easier , by the way after this , I want to update the OS as I am using gingerbread.
I need to erase and reset everything on my old enV phone. I have already gotten a new phone and plan to recycle the old one, but want to clear all of my information, contacts, photos, etc. first.
Just bought the device and I'm not sure because of teh missing SD card, how to handle my "best practises" for Samsung devices. Originally I stored music, videos, Whatsapp media, Titanium backups and so on on my external memory card. But this option is now gone. Is there any way to create a new partition as external sd card wich is recognized by apps and is not affected by hard resets (which is mostly necessary for custom rom updates) ? I don't want to get in a copy nightmare for every ROM update which requires a full wipe. Is tehre any solution? I can't be the only one who is thinking about this issue.
I received a phone call and once it ended the phone screen went blank.I tried to do the home button and power button 15 second hold. But it doesnt work.I can hear my calls and emails come in and the phone screen stays blank. What to do? Can apple fix this.
I tried to hard reset my LG G3 device. Following the Volume Down + Power Button instructions, everything was looking well. I confirmed to reset the phone and since then, the phone's been rebooting itself automatically without moving further than the LG logo screen.
Turns on, LG Logo and turns off immediately after. I tried taking out the battery but once I turn the device back on, the process keeps happening.
Why is my lumia 1320 get a multi colored paint like sreen after a hard reset.,?i flashed it many times but still the display is distorted.,what should i do?is it a hardware issue?my phone haven't fell at all..
After i did a hard reset to my lumia 1020 which is on lumia black. glance screen has shifted under display+ touch. and now i cant change my night mode clock color and glance has options off, peek, timed and always on. earlier before hard reset i had interval, peek and always on.
So I attempted to do a full wipe/hard reset on my Nokia 1020.. I thought it was working until it restarted and now goes to a WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER screen. Am I completely screwed now? I don't understand how I can't even force-reset the phone. This is really upsetting and I don't know what to do.
