Mar 6, 2015How do you set a ringtone so that when the phone rings you know who's calling? Do you need to go to your contacts and change the setting in there?

Aug 26, 2011A few days ago out of no where my phone stopped ringing in calls and text msg.The phone is on loud profile and when i put some ringtone it sais "An illigal ringtone was chosed, please choose another ringtone" - thow it's the same ringtone i used for like a year with this phone.how can i fix it?

Apr 2, 2014so every now and then I'll be having a conversation and I'll get a call or text and my phone is not on silent or vibrate and my favorite ringtone starts blaring. Since I'm in the middle of a conversion I'd like to just reach into my pocket, hit one of the buttons and stop the ringtone/notification from playing. This doesn't seem to work out of the box. I'm a bit new to android phones (finally got fed up with iPhone) so I know there is probably an app or setting that will let me do this, but I can't find it.

Jun 15, 2012My phone will vibrate, but does not audibly ring. The silent switch is not set, If i go into the settings menu, the ringer menu files are missing.
All other sounds work flawlessly, music plays, keyboard clicks away and voicemail, and text alerts come through, it's just the ringer that's problematic.

The issue I am getting is frequently mobile is getting silent automatically No ringtone is ringing, when I am getting incoming call only display is coming, when I am receiving call I cannot hear anything. So everytime I have to switch off mobile and remove battery and restart the phone again, for sometime everything is working fine but after some hours again getting silent.

May 22, 2015I have a samsung galaxy 6 and all incoming calls are setting my ringtone to mute. I put my ringtone volume as high as it will go. Then I call my phone. Sometimes it will ring once with volume before it magically sets my ringtone to mute, but regardless, ever incoming call sets my ringtone to mute by the 2nd or 3rd ring.
I've turned gestures off.
I have no updates for the phone.
No recently added apps.
Power saving is turned off.

Jan 5, 2015A couple of weeks ago I changed the default ringtone for my incoming text messages. It would work for some contacts but not others so I changed it on the individual contacts by going into their information. I have now tried changing it again but it does not work on one of my contacts. Text messages from other individuals work fine but the one I'm having problems with will only vibrate not ring. I've changed it in the default, I've changed it in their individual account info -- but nothing.

Jan 6, 2016I have an unlocked US variant S6 SM-G920T with Baseband (G920TUEU3COK1). I have been using it on Tmobile without issues since Cyber Monday.
But now, randomly, when I get a phone call from a contact that is already in the phone, I see the number on the display rather than the contact name. After I either answer or reject or allow to go to voicemail, and then go look at the call log, the contact name is displayed. This is getting annoying as I keep ignoring calls that I would like to take ( and sometimes need to take).
Only thing I've tried is to clear data and clear cache in the contacts app. Phone is not rooted...

I've tried resetting the sound settings, changing the ringtone etc! (when selecting a different ringtone, the phone DOES NOT make any sound then either, whereas, before it would play the tunes as I went through the "ring tone" menu).
The other sounds, ie key pad, internet etc all play sound!
