BB Torch 9800 Smartphone :: Images In HTML Emails Wont Download Automatically
Aug 19, 2010
Images in my HTML emails wont download automatically (need to select ˜Get Images˜within each email to get images) even though under email preferences it is setup (box checked) as ˜Download Images Automatically and the Confirm External Image Download box is unchecked. In my old Bold 9000 there was no way to setup the device to download images automatically but I thought the Torch 9800 would be able to.Is At overriding this profile setting?
My screen turns ON automatically when sitting on counter/table (not touched) every 10-30 seconds continuously. Even if I have the screen lock on or the phone completely locked, the home screen keeps popping up. When I attempt the screen lock alone, within a minute the screen turns on and unlocks automatically without touching the phone. It's killing the battery.
Since I got my Torch, I have had problems with Appworld:
1. The app itself cannot be download for OS6. It states "Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry App World."When will this be available?
2. Downloading apps via the web page results in an email that gets sent that redirects me to the page to get the email sent to me again... so, I can't download the app this way, either.
I can not open the Desktop Software v6 after downloading. I get the error message: "BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I downloaded Windows PC software. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Any ideas what is causing the software not to open? I downloaded v5.0 and have no issues opening and using this earlier version.
When someone sends me an email, it takes 15 minutes for it to show up on my torch. If I log into my outlook account on a computer, I can see the email has been delivered to me.I called BB support, and they said that there is no way I can do an instant feed to my phone from an outlook account. I don't believe this is true.Does anyone know how I can resolve this? I am not using enterprise, I set up as internet mail account
I'm on my 2nd Torch - the 1st one had a defect when I tried to use the GPS feature that I subscribe to AT&T. When I did the even exchange, they were not able to transfer my info but luckily I backed up my old phone prior to going in.Now my problem is with my email accounts. No matter what ring tone/notification sound I pick - it doesn't notify me when I receive emails to my yahoo email account or my work email account.I've rebooted, deleted ALL apps...selected different ring tones but nothing.I receive the emails in my message list, but it never notifies me, which means I'll have to continuously check to see if I received work/personal emails throughout the day.And to top it off, I just discovered that I can't reply to my emails ANY emails from either account.I Menu click to 'Reply', but then when I menu click again to send, there is no 'Send' option. Only Save as Draft, etc.
We purchased two 9800 Torch phones and both are having the same issue. Word, Excel, and PDF files all open fine on the devices. However, some emails will be received with attachments but the phone does not give the open or download attachment options. If you forward the message from the device, the attachment will still be attached. The issue is intermittent and I have not been able to pin down any consistently as I have received several emails with attachments successfully. The emails that will not give the attachment options also do not have the little paperclip on the email icon from the messages view. Again, hen this exact email is forwarded the attachment will arrive at the destination.
BES version 4.1.7.19 Both users had no issues on prior devices with multiple attachments opened daily.
'email issues -Since last night, the address line of the sender is not appearing, and HTML code appears in the body of the email on all my email accounts I did a complete restore to factory settings and relinked the email accounts and there is no improvement.I have double checked all the settings, but can't see anything obvious.
I have html emails enabled and download images automatically set to yes. why does all new emails that arrive on my blackberry still have missing images? i have to hit get images inorder to see those images? anyone experiencing the same issues on their 8520?
I moved to BlackBerry Bold 9700 about two weeks ago. Everything works great, except for one issue. Images in my HTML email messages don't download. I have tried all combinations of settings on automatically download images and confirm images download, in the Options > Email Settings menu. What happens is: When I hard reset the phone (take out the battery and reinsert it), and then do Get Images, images download. However, this continues only for some 3-4 hours, or say about 10-15 messages. After a point, Get Images doesn't download images. Even the arrows on the top right of the screen, that indicate an attempt to download, don't come. It almost seems like the phone has kept a limited space aside to download images in HTML messages, and this space is filled up and hence it stops downloading. The moment the battery is taken out and reinserted, Get Images works. But again for some time only.Tried taking Vodafone's help. They updated my Service Book, which according to them is the "standard solution" to Images downloading problem. But nothing happened. Which is expected, because they were possibly giving me a solution for images never downloading. In my case, they download for a bit, and then refuse to, till hard reset.Tried finding where any memory related settings could be there. Found a thing in Settings > Memory > Compression. Tried both Enabled and Disabled, it doesn't help.
I am running 5.0.0.419 right now on my VZW Tour. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I'm having some HTML E-Mail issues. Everytime I get an email, it never downloads emails automatically. I've got my settings so that it is supposed to, but when I open one up, I just have image boxes with no images. Is there anything special I need to do? I normally just go into options and hit get images, but it would be nice if this were done automatically.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
1. images are not automatically appearing (need to click get images) 2. the HTML emails are appearing too wide. I have to scroll to the right to see the other half of the email.
I have a BB Storm 9530 and whenever I open an email message, I have to select "view images" from the menu. Is there a way for all of my email messages to automatically open and show all images like its HTML? Even when I set the email setting to automatically show images, I still get those little squares that have mini blackberrys in them.
I'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist. (Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps: On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save
As you already know, the ring volume on the Torch 9800 is extremely low. So I tried to email custom mp3 ringtones to my phone to use instead. In attempting to do so, I received a message saying "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found." I also received this message when trying to email a photo to my blackberry. This never use to happen in past blackberries I have owned.
How do I fix this "service book information not found" issue ?
I have bought a Torch, but cannot get it to set up in the Organizer configuration to sync with my Calendar in MS Office XP- Outlook. My computer runs Windows XP. The contacts and memo will configure (although) they are posting to an archive folder and when I try to change that I get Error 0x80043bea), but the Calendar and Tasks will go through the set-up process, but when you finish it, the checkmark on those 2 Outlook folder disappears before you can even select the advance settings.I have re-set the configuration on the Desktop software a couple of times, to no avail, and uninstalled the Desktop 6.0 software and reinstalled it. None of these measures have changed the problem.Any suggestions?
I am a newbie to the BB OS. I switched to Verizon from my iPhone because of AT&T's crappy service. I am learning my way around the phone, but still have a few questions. Is there a way, when I open e-mails, to have the images automatically be visible?I've been lurking and reading the message boards and have seen a lot of people discussing resetting the phone. Should this be done after installing new apps, and if so, how would I reset the phone.
When the phone is off, it seems that a simple tap of the Red power button turns the phone on again. This seems like a design flaw. All other non BB devices that I know off require you to hold the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it back on.This prevents the phone from accidently being turned on.
Let me explain a use case. When you are flying you have to turn your phones off.So the normal procedure is to hold the red hang up key and the phone will power down. This is as expected.Assume you then put the BlackBerry device in the seat pocket in front of you.Midway through the flight you hit your knee against the seat pocket. The red power button it tapped during this process. The phone now powers on.You are about to land and your phone rings. The flight attendant and the passengers all give you unpleasant looks through no real fault of your own. This type of issue has occurred a few times.
I realize you can go in and manually turn off phone connections but this is an extra step.Turning the phone off should take care of this and there should stay off until the user wants to turn it on. I see this behaviour on my 8310 and 8900 and 9800.I hope there is something simple I'm missing??
On my blackberry torch home screen, there is status icon on top which consists of a red circle with a white "w" in the middle of it. Just to the right is the number "1". Does anyone know what this means?
I just bought a Blackberry Torch. I found that I cannot read Chinese character on torch, let alone input Chinese. It just display some black bulks instead of Chinese.
Somebody told me I have to wait for new OS versions which might includes languages like Chinese.
I feel that The Torch would be the best thing for Verizon! We are not iPhone people over here. We need a newer OS and the option of having our quarty keyboards that slides from a touch screen. It will blow the Storm out of the water and it will not have iPhony competition or even Android for that matter! Plus the Torch gives us a nice size for travel not like the Droid phones.
On my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
I just bought a Blackberry Torch but have been unable to set up my corporate email using Enterprise Activation. I have the password from my IT group and have also reset the device. I keep getting an error that the Blackberry is unable to connect the server.
I just got torch today, activated and it don't connect to home wifi.It shows my ssid and says connected but when I try to browse says not connected.I can connect to data plan and surf, but I wanna connect to my home wifi.Tech support said try another wifi connection. So I went to AT&T store and sales guy connected to their internet wifi.I also went to mcd s and connect to wifi hot spots. But won't connect at home.I tried everything, And I had two boles 9000 before I tested last few days and same thing? Is it something to do with wifi router?I had security on and I changed settings in router and made my wifi home conn OPEN BUT STILL won't connect!
I recenlty was in NY and i bought a BlackBerry torch 9800, now i'm in spain and i want to unlock it in order to use with spain sim card, anyone can suggest a guide or a website to unlock my torch?By the way my BlackBerry torch was bought from at&t .
I have my email going to my torch, and when a message comes in, a yellow envelope shows up. The problem is that the yellow envelope wont go away. I tried clicking the envelope, tried going into the mail folder, and I even deleted all the messages in the folder. Still there!
I powered off and on, nothing
took the battery out, nothing
took the cards out, nothing
any thoughts? my next try will be re-establishing my email accounts
I am unable to sync files between my Torch and Windows XP SP3. I have BBDesktop 6 installed, the phone is connected via USB directly to the laptop, and all of the Media Sync options say:"You need to turn on mass storage mode from the connected BlackBerry device to use this feature."
I see no such configuration option on the phone. Also, in Windows file manager, the SD and USB drives appear as removable drives E: and F:, but they are unaccessible: "Please insert disk in drive.."
