BB Torch :: 9800 Facebook/Twitter Not Working After Update?
Oct 12, 2011
I am sure this has been posted. I've searched for a few posts but haven't yet been able to find a solution.I have a Blackberry Torch 9800 with AT&T and just got the software update. I can login to Gmail and use the internet however when I go to log-in to Twitter and Facebook I get the message"you are currently on a sevice plan that does not support this apllication, please connect to a wifi network or contact your service provider to upgrade your dataļ
I can't download blackberry appworld, my facebook, twitter are not working, but I managed to download opera mini browser and I have been using that to access facebook, twitter and other web pages.
Ever since I downloaded the latest version of the Facebook for Blackberry app through App World, I get the following error message: "Unable to connect to the Facebook server (1400)". I have tried numerous times to pull the battery as well as uninstall / re-install the app and no luck. I also tried to download the app via the web, but still have the same problem.
I was using my Facebook app on my device up until last week without any problems, until one day it just seemed to crash :/ I uninstalled the app with the intention of reinstalling it to see if this would help, or even see if an upgrade was available. However, it wont let me reinstall the app, and when I try to reinstall through my browser, it says that my device doesn't support it! Finding using Facebook on the browser all the time really slow and annoying so would really like some help as to how to get my app back and working again!
I have recently got a torch 9800, but when I try to access Twitter it comes up with "java.lang.ClassCast Exception" and when I try to log into facebook it says "we cannot reach the Facebook server at this time. Please try again later. (100)" Other applications that use the internet seem to work ok. It's just these two. I have tried deleting them, but when I go to install them, it asks if I want to reinstall, so it obviously didn't get rid of them completely. I even did a hard restart after deleting, by taking the battery out whilst still on, and not reinserting it for about a minute.
I'm still a new blackberry user and not sure what to do, I have a curve 9300 and the BBM is not working (although neither is facebook or twitter). I do have the BIS so I'm unsure why it is working, it's been almost thirty hours since i got the new blackberry, and I've tried taking the battery out for a few seconds while it was on but that didn't work either. I'm not sure what to do. It also says that my BlackBerry internet service (BIS) is not connected, (although I do pay for it). How do i get the BIS connected and the BBM working?
I searched around a bit, and couldn't find a solution to my problem. I've been using a Curve 8520 for nearly a year now, and have absolutely no problems with it (other than the trackpad not working from time to time). A couple days ago, someone gifted me a Curve 3G 9300, so I transferred all my data over and got it started. As working on social networks is part of my job, the first thing I did is download the Facebook and Twitter apps. Problem is neither of them work. The apps tell me I need a data plan for them to work. I've seen this issue across various boards, but everyone that had it actually didn't have a data plan; I do. I put my SIM back into my 8520, and everything works fine, but when I put it in the 9300, none of the social media apps work
I have the bold 9700, OS 5.0.0.862 with a blackberry data plan add on: unlimited social networking and instant messaging (not the full data plan).I've been using apps, such as facebook, twitter, bbm, etc for around 2 months, then it suddenly stopped working
My social feed does not show FB nor Twitter and I can't seem to add them? I have both FB and Twitter running on my phone but it is not integrated into social feed and it is not available as a drop-down item either... I did device switch and both FB and Twitter disappeared so I had to download FB and Twitter apps manually onto the 9800.
I'm having a hard time logging in to facebook for 2 days now. Error message keeps popping up. The exact message is "we cannot reach the facebook server at this time. please try again later. (100)". And on my Twitter, the error message is "BWP security token retrieval failed." I already done the hard reset and even tried clearing stuff that I could. Should I re-install facebook and twitter?
I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 and just recently the internet doesn't work and neither does BBM and any app that needs the internet like Facebook and Twitter, emails and BB App World doesnt work properly too. I also noticed that in the top right hand corner where the coverage bars are it has gprs instead of GPRS as it normally says. I've tried rebooting it at least 10 times now, nothing seems to work!
My girlfriend just got the BlackBerry Torch 9800. She updated the twitter app wich is on the phone. It restarted and now it just shows "App Error 603". When I try to Reset It just goes back to same page with the same error. I already tried force detect with the application loader no success.
I've had my Torch for 2-3 weeks now. I do not remember ever seeing the twitter app pre installed. I certainly don't remember deleting it. When I go to twitter to download the blackberry app it gives me a notice."Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones."
I don't use twitter that much, but would like it installed in case I do. It's really not my main concern, my main concern is that this is a bigger issue that I need to get resolved before I'm stuck with a phone that doesn't work like it's supposed to and won't be able to run other apps. Any ideas? I'm still running the original OS.
I connected my 9800 torch to for a back up I noticed there is an software update.Once the update was complete, my phone was reset to factory settings. I reloaded the back up files of all my contacts but can not get my BBM, Email, facebook to work anymore. The same type off message gets given that I do not have a service plan that supports this application (FB), BBM just hangs and no message gets sent or delivered and as for the email it just says service connection is unavailable.I am currently traveling and is using the phone on wifi only as there is no signal available. All other internet based applications work. Phone works when I am in signal range.
I updated Facebook on my BlackBerry Torch 9800 now can't get Facebook on my phone, what to do? I tried deleting & downloading, Deleting & downloading Bete Version, everything nothing works & its in the phone but not recognized so their is No Icon.

1. images are not automatically appearing (need to click get images) 2. the HTML emails are appearing too wide. I have to scroll to the right to see the other half of the email.
Ive just downloaded the Facebook & Twitter apps on my Curve 8520 but when i go in to the downloads folder and click on the F or T icon a message appears:
"You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. If you want yo use this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan."
So does this mean i can't use my free wifi connection to access these apps? I called Orange and they told me that i need to pay so much a month to access Orange internet and then i can use these apps. I thought they were free to use.

whether there will be an update for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 to update to OS7. ive seen OS7 in action and it would be nice to enjoy it hands on without purchasing another phone, seeing how i recently purchased this phone only 3-4 months ago.
I know there's an update for my device but desktop software will not allow me to install it onto my device. I have gone to http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp and selected Bell Mobility and I have downloaded the software I would like to install for my device. Many forums say that I should be able to open desktop software and it should appear in my update section to load into my device, but unfortunately it doesn't show up. Its located in my downloads folder right now and I would like to get it onto my device.
I have tried to do so both OTA and through the desktop software on both a mac and PC. On the mac all it says is we can't connect to the update server, within literally 1 second, I mean is it even trying? On windows it says theres 0KB space to install the update when on the home page clearly shows there is 3.6GB of free space. I'm trying to stay patient but this is ridiculous.
my 9800 was on vodafone but i got it unlocked so i put my orange sim into it, texts seem to work, not tried calls or emails yet but my bbm wont work, just comes up with little red clock
My BBM is not working. I try to add people by scanning their barcode in and it says that they are pending. But when I ask people if they got the invite they don't. I try to add people by putting in their PINs and it does the same. They try to add me and it says that I'm pending but I didn't get the invite.
I have a Torch 9800 with OS 6. I have noticed that my phone is not getting any of the emails from my five email accounts. I went through deleted them all and readded them and it was telling me there was a problem connecting to the server. I have plugged my phone in and made sure everything is up to date, pulled the battery and resent the regestured with my wireless network.
After updating the software on my 9800 I haven't been able to set up my email account again, every time I try it freezes up for a while and then I get a message saying "Unable to open email set-up application. Contact your wireless service provider." I never had this problem before I updated the software, I used to receive my emails to my BB.
