The blackberry curve 3g which i purchased only a week back has started giving me a strange problem/ Atleast 7-8 times a day on its own the screen of the device starts flickering and fades away with a grey/white band at the bottom as can be seen from the pick. It has never been dropped/drenched.

There is nothing on the screen and the backlight is white and never turns off. I tried battery pull number of times. This usually occurs after I start listening to internet radio. It gets fixed when I plug it into my computer last time but Im at work right now and this thing is getting annoying because I can't use my phone.

I have wifi at home. Sometimes the icon on the phone is white, sometimes it is grey.what is the difference?I have even stood right next to the router and it's been grey.Is there something in the phone that I have to change to FORCE it to use the wifi? I can't see any means of testing the speed. If I could, I'd see that GPRS gets about 5kb/s, but on wifi it should get 1.3mb.

After i put it into charge - then only a successful start is done. So the only solution as of now i have - is whenever my blackberry hangs - i need to remove the battery - insert it again - and immediately put it into charging via USB/Electric-Power. 3 days ago i was using my phone like normal when i got a white sceen, ive tried pulling the battery but it just goes straight back to the white screen. Does anybody have any idea on how to fix this? Bear in mind i cant connect to Blackberry Software Desktop because for some reason it wont recognise my device, i want to state the phone hasnt been dropped and hasnt been near any water, it just randonly went white.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, i downloaded the recent new update from LG about 1 or 2 days ago and then this morning I went to turn on my phone and the screen flickered, got black lines coarsly running horizontal through it and slowly the screen over a 10-15 second span fades to darkness and then sits in a dark screen state. Then I hit the power button several times and the phone only some times will activate.
Everything appears to function fine besides the screen as I can do almost everything using remote tools (i.e. android wear, bluetooth headset, online cloud based texting apps, etc.). However, the screen will not work for more than few seconds the few times it will even turn on.
So I downloaded ovi maps 3.03 for my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music phone, but it fails. When I'm pressing the maps icon I get to the ovi maps menu, and after 10 seconds or so, my screen just fades out and restarts itself Any ideas of what could be wrong?

If I go into the "Mobile Network Engineering Screens" menu and then into "Cell Information..." the bandmode is set to "GSM850" which is causing me to get SOS. How do I change the bandmode to GSM900? I've tried clicking on GSM800 and selecting "All" but when I back to the menu and then back into Cell Information it changes back to GSM850.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry Curve 8530. Several months ago, during daily use, the screen would all of a sudden go black. A battery pull would solve this problem for a while. Eventually this became more frequent. Symptoms progressed (it seemed that if I set the phone down too quickly it would reset) Finally, the phone would turn on, then go immediately to a white screen where it was undetectable by my computer. I contacted my service provider and they said the phone was toast and (amazingly enough) gave me a free loaner to use for the duration of my contract (all info transfered via an old backup, so nothing was lost) After my new phone was working I left my Curve plugged in at my office. Yesterday as I was leaving I looked at the phone again, and the screen was white and telling me to reload software 507.
I plugged it into my computer to begin the process and to my surprise the computer all of a sudden detected the phone and successfully upgraded the software. All looked great, I got past the password stage, and was just going to begin reloading my information when the screen faded to blank again. I still have the free loaner phone, so it's not a big deal, but it's bugging me as to what the problem could be. As of right now the computer can no longer detect the phone again
When i talk on the phone the keyboard light fades away; however, the call, blackberry, back, and end buttons all stay on THE WHOLE TIME i talk. I have talked for 30 minutes and it stays on. I have all the settings to as low as they go and i have it to where the lights fade. I just cant seem to figure out if this happens on everybody's phone or its just mine and i need to get it replaced. I have had no other complaints on this phone and the battery lasts a pretty long period of time for me but i know that if this issue gets fixed it would last even longer.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Xperia Active is barely 3 weeks old, running Android version: 2.3.4 and latest build: 4.0.2.A.0.62. My screen brightness is kept at maximum, I have never dropped this phone or abused it and rest of it's functions are running fine. Barely a week in, it seemed to have a faintly flickering screen which I thought might have just been my eyes going. This week, the flickering has been replaced by what I would describe as "breathing" - screen brightness goes from max brightness (100%) to gradual dimness (about 78% brightness) to max brightness again - without me touching anything nor am I running out of power. This happens once in a while throught the day, not constantly. Rather alarming as I am getting very attached to this little phone.
I have been checking the SE forums since the 1st week of ownership, the flickering screen problem has been reported occuring to other SE phone models, including the Mini on which the Active has been based. I have wiped all data from my phone and gave it back to the seller for their tech to figure out. My last option if unrepairable, is to ask the seller to replace the unit. what causes the screen brightness to dim then brighten by itself (despite the latest build and software).
my dog got hold of my 8530 and put a toothmark in the screen cover. The screen was also damaged meaning I could see white and grey stripes. I bought a new screen and replaced the old one. Now when I turn it on, I get the white screen and i cannot dial out or recieve calls. Basically the phone is dead. I was able to connect to my desktop and install the latest OS version. I put the old screen back in and I still cannot recieve or dial. I must have done something while taking it apart or putting back together? It is a very simple procedure so I would think it difficult to screw it up. Before I took it apart, i could get phone calls and dial out but i couldnt see the outgoing or incoming call screen. I took the battery out before I took it apart. Now when I connect to my desktop, the connection comes and goes as if you were plugging and plugping in the device.
