Recently, my wife got a Curve 8520 from Rogers and I want to transfer some photos and stuff to my PC. When I connect it via USB, I get the familiar sound that says it detects it, but it doesn't show up anywhere on my list of devices. Blackberry Desktop Software recognizes it, but won't sync any media; it says media storage unavailable. Mass Media Mode on the phone is on. Some things to note: Running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 Running Blackberry Desktop Software v6.0.0.43 I am not using a hub to connect the BB. I also have a Bold 9000, than connects no problem, albeit a different USB cable.
I have changed my PC so reloaded the desktop software - all was OK and it worked perfectly. It then auto-updated from the update site to 6.1.0.35 and a new driver loaded - now the new software loads when I connect the USB port to my 8520 but it sits there with "connect your Blackberry Device" .
I have deleted and downloaded the software three times now.
I'm currently in possession of a white 8520. The device doesn't load the OS in any way. I've tried to load an official OS through the Loader application, but to no avail. At first, I get the PIN: UNKNOWN and get to the application check screen. After that, it loads... But in the second step of Loader, it says it can't connect to the device. The Desktop Software hasn't been able to help too. Doing a battery pull leads to the bar filling to about 70%, and stays there. No reboot order, nothing. I hadn't the device before this episode, having no clue on what's the cause
my bb 8520 doesn't connect to my pc anymore. well, it connects to get charged, but the desktop-softwaer does not recognice the bb anymore! I assume, that since the last os-update this problem came up.
ive looked through all the help pages on here and my usb lead works as its charging off the computer and i know all the connections work as used pen drives and external hard-drives in them ive also used different computers, uninstalled all the software and updated it but my device manager doesn't pick up the phone it a new phone and im getting really frustrated now as i want to upload my pictures on my pc?
I want to access public/ friends wifi but only methods are available here are 1 enter pin into wifi router 2 button on wifi method.why cant i connect to wifi network by using network password method? I am seriously sick of this. all other phones like android or even symbian support this. and is very easy. why it has to be painfully difficult here? I am an experienced and techie person. But yet can not figure out BB.
After installing Desktop Manager, it says 'to begin plug in Blackberry via USB'. I have done this in every possible way... but the computer doesnt recognise it at all...

i have recently upgraded the software on my phone and now i cant connect to any wifi spots at work or at home. the wifi icon just stays grey but at the top of the phone, it shows i am connected to networks.
where i live i have no mobile signal and i rely on the WIFI to get my emails through.
All was working fine until I followed the upgrade prompts. The 'phone works but a) it won't accept Opera Mini 5.1 (which was in the 'phone already) and b) I cannot connect to the PC via the USB cord.
I have been having problems with my Blackberry Curve 8520 as it won't connect to the computer. I have switched on mass storage mode, all my pictures and such are saved to my memory card. I have installed the blackberry desktop manager and my PC still does not recognize my Blackberry. It just starts to charge and go on the clock face. My Blackberry is the V4,6.1.314..So, basically whenever I connect my Blackberry to my computer it just starts to charge!

Since Thursday night I've been receiving a SOS signal from my pay as you go Blackberry 8520 when I'm in my apartment or on my block. Or worse, it will say I have full coverage but I can't send or receive phonecalls or messages. If I walk two blocks in any direction the signal comes back. I've been to the Vodafone store multiple times and with the language barrier they keep telling me nothing is wrong. I finally got them to give me a new sim card today hoping that would fix it but i still can't get any signal. I'm sure it's probably something to do with the network but really, for three/four days?? I've lived in the same apartment for the past 4 months with absolutely no problem. I only have a week left in Italy with this phone but it's frustrating because I have to stay home and study for finals and now I can't get into contact with anyone. I've tried the battery pull, wiping my device, changing my SIM card...literally everything I can think of.
I have went through advanced options registered to the wirless network and enabled APN settingsMy twitter app seems to be working thoughbut I cannot send bbms or connect to a browser
When I bought this device, my wi-fi connection is doing well but after a month of using, I suddenly have trouble connecting to the internet. Instead of a green tickmark next to the wi-fi setting, it's a white dash that has been appearing. The wi-fi logo at the top of the screen is colored gray and there's a word "edge" over it.
I was on the phone with Sprint cuz I couldnt connect to my Wi-Fi WPA network on which I have a WEP Key. I was told my technical support that this is a known issue for this 8530 Curve. Did anyone know that? She said I cant do anything about it until RIM put out an update. she doesnt know when they will send the update out to all any work-arounds? anyone with this annoying issue? I wish I had known before I got this.
i had tmobile and switched simple mobile .with this company you must use opera mini to connect to the internet .i can connect using opera mini but my apps like facebook won't connect .how can i change the browser from bb to opera.
I have got a used BB8520 as a gift and am currently using. I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.
I have a problem where I cannot connect to my mobile network - Orange with it saying "Initialisation Failed". I try to manually connect to the network but it can't find any "Scan for networks failed". It also has my mobile network down as Vodafone UK for some reason. I've tried rebooting the phone but to no effect.
I have a curve 8520 and i'm trying to connect it to my computer using an usb cable. But everytime i connect it nothing happens but my phone charges. I've tried re-installing desktop manager several times and i've changed the options in the 'memory' menu but nothing works. I know there is some connection between my phone and my computer because it charges, but no message pops up (I've read somewhere that a message should pop up about mass storage).
it says scan for network, then after it says no service!i have mobile network&data services on etc. When i try host routing table it says 'registartion message queued it will be sent once data coverage is avaliable' but my mobile network don't connect! when i do diagnostic test, it sayssignal level:unknwonradio access:unknownnetwork:unknownip address: unknownicmp ping echo: abortblackberry registration:abortconnected to blackberry:abortblackberry pin-pin: abort
My children are unable to connect their Blackberrys to the home network with this new router(Thomson Techni-color 582?). With the previous router (585?) all they had to do was scan for available networks and then when ours appeared they put in the password. But with this one when you scan and find the network and try to connect you get the message "this wireless router supports wi-fi protected setup. To connect using a PIN (which your Blackberry will generate), click Next". Then when you click Next you get an 8 number code. it doesn't give you the opportunity to put in the network password. Please tell me how to connect the Blackberrys to our network.
i have been sent an mms but i cannot retrieve it and im also having trouble with the wifi, i have a home router and i have it up via the manual instructions, it will show the wifi name on the top of the screen but when i try to connection to the net it says unable to connect?
