i just bought a blackberry bold 9790 operating on OS 7. however, i found that rim released the OS 7.1 with so many new features; i have been trying to upgrade my OS but the software keeps saying "there are no updates for your blackberry" although blackberry's website says that any OS 7 device can upgrade to 7.1.

I have tried everything including reinstalling the software on my PC and even an update but the computer says to connect phone when it already is and other times the screen loads black and shows blackberry on it and a bar that realoads and after this it goes right back to the white screen...

- Removing the wi-fi setting and reentering them.
- Entering the details manually
- Removing the battery and rebooting the phone
- Reinstally the os over the computer
Nothing seems to work. I know the router is fine as I have the same phone and it connects ok along with several other devices.Has anyone any suggestions before I reset the phone to factory setting?
I've had my 8900 for two years. I really love the phone, but around the beginning of December 2010, it started doing something funky. It seems that when I am either talking on the phone for a long period of time (around 15 minutes or so) or in the middle of a movie or while taking a video, the phone will go to a plain white screen, and it is impossible to turn it off or have any other interaction. In short, it freezes on that white screen. At other times, it will power itself off, and it also appears frozen, with no possible interaction. In either case, when I remove the battery for a few minutes and replace it, sometimes it comes back on, and other times I have to plug it into a charger, whether it's a USB cable or AC charger. In any case, I may have started with a full battery, but after this, the battery now only shows three and a half of five battery blocks. This is not limited to the OS, since it happened with the original OS back in December (4.6) and continues to occur now that I have upgraded to OS 5. It seems to be hardware related.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone got an app 200 "reset" message.I followed the instructions from J Sanders (Re: Blackberry Curve 8520/'APP Error 200-Reset" it shows to me) and was doing pretty good until on the application loader wizard, in the connection drop down menu I dont see "USB-PIN: UNKOWN" I get USB-PIN:<Personal Content Removed> after selecting this option and I click next I get a pop up box that says "Device password required, a security password is required for your device" Now I do have a password on the phone that was working and unlocking the device before I git the APP 200 Error, But it is no longer working. I have had five attempts now and Im worried im going to lock the phone permanently.

I did not have any problems with whatsapp at the beginning but when I tried to take a photo and send it, my bb rebooted and then I started having that problem.
