Jul 29, 2010Ok so my wife just got a 8530 like me. She originally set the ringtone for sms to one. Then changed it to another. Well the new ringtone she set for that profile, is not showing up for all contacts. It is still showing old ringtone! I tried switching but still stays the same. Only way to change is by individualy contacts.

Aug 9, 2010Last night out of nowhere, I started receiving texts with a different ringtone than I usually do. When I went into the sound profiles (I have mine at "normal"), the old settings were still applied, however, when I checked out my contacts, they had all been set to another tone. I usually have them set at "gung **" but all my contacts had been changed to "sanguine".When checking the ringtone for my calls, I noticed that all my contacts had been changed to "classic ringtone" when the sound profile I had my phone on had a custom ringtone.
I don't mind that the texts ring a different sound but I really can't stand the classic ringtone sound so I wanted to know if anyone can help me with this? My phone seems to be working find except for that part. I tried a battery pull already..no help. I read somewhere that I might have to delete all my contacts and put them in again with custom tones for each person, but that seems like a huge waste of time. Help, please!

Nov 13, 2011I cannot make phones calls from my contact list. When I try to do so it will tell me the number cannot be completed as dialed. I can manually type in the number and the contact name will come up. The call will go through then. However, even after a completed call, I cannot hit redial and complete the call again. I have to manually type it in each time. Is there a way to correct this?

Aug 9, 2010I have a 5800 that I have been troubleshooting for the past Month. We have been to the provider who has now replaced the phone twice in the past two months. Calling out appears to be fine. However when customizing the phone I am unable to set picture and a ringtone to a contact in the contact list. The Contact is saved on the phone. When the person dials in the picture will display correctly but the ringtone will play a default ring not a custom file as selected. This has heppened on all 3 of the phones. I am down to the OS of the phone which the provider says is up to date.

Feb 5, 2012I've been having trouble with my phone. I just got my Bold 9700 two days ago, and I've decided to tweak it a little. Once I connected my phone into my computer via. USB, two autoplay windows (as usual) popped up, one for my SD Card, and one for my Device itself, then Blackberry Desktop Manager popped up, then it froze. I force quit it and closed the program, then upon removing my phone (by ripping it out aside from Safely Removing it) from the USB then connecting it again, my Device Storage did not autoplay, and it did not show up as a device when I opened "My Computer", but my SD Card Storage shows up. I'm using OS 6 (6.0.0.723, Platform 6.6.0.248). I've tried the calfix thing, but I don't think it applies to my phone, as it's PID_8004.

Oct 30, 2012For some unknown reason, I cannot receive calls and smses as well as make calls and send smses. When I try it keeps saying call failed. When I check for airtime SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE ERROR - GENERAL ERROR. I have put my sim card into another. Phone and was able to make n receive calls and smses. But when I put my sim into my blackberry I am not allowed to. My blackberry is vodafone I am currently using a cellc sim card in it. The phone has worked fine from the time I bought it in december 2011 till september 2012.

Apr 3, 2011 I bought two new blackberry 8520 from ebay from different sellers. One unbranded and unlocked, the other branded and locked to Vodaphone. The unlocked one works fine with my tesco sim, no problems. The branded/locked to Vodaphone one was unlocked this morning with a code I paid for and got off the internet and not through Vodaphone. It now shows the phone is disabled and it recognises the Tesco sim (although still branded), but all calls and messages fail when sent and if I try to ring it it goes straight to voicemail.
Is it the phone or the sim? The phone was an unwanted gift so the seller is not sure if the phone's pin was registered. Tesco have asked vodaphone to release the pin which will happen in the next 24-48 hours but will this make any difference? Some of the forums with the same query as mine seem conflicting, i.e. release the pin to get access to BBM and internet but not a direct problem with calling and texting.
