BB Curve 8520/8530 :: My Curve Keeps Restarting And Won't Turn On
Jul 17, 2010
I recenty cleared my phonne with the alt+lglg and cleared some other history stuff, and i seen a thing for memory cleaner and i enabled it and i figured that might save me some time, it prompted me before i closed it that memory cleaner would run when the phone had been rebooted and something else. but now my phone has been rebooted and it wont turn on it just keeps restarting over and over and over again. i left it over nihgt hoping it would be working in the morning and it still rebooted all night.
my 8530 will suddenly, and for no apparent reason, decide to restart itself. I haven't noticed a pattern as to when it does this, and it doesn't seem to be a regular interval. I'll have it sitting next to me on the table, and suddenly it lights up, shuts down, and starts back up, and carries on as if nothing happened.
My device is pw protected. I schedule my quickpull to restart my phone and I gave it the pw so it can by pass that. However, it does not do that. The phone does not unlock and restart. Instead, I have to manually unlock it and it prompts me to restart. Idk what to do. I want to have phone restarted when I don't need it. As in when I wake up and hop in shower.
Is there any way to turn off the suggested text box that pops up when im texting on the Curve 8530? This is annoying. This is not the autotext feature that changes preset words like dont to don't. Its the box that pops up for instance when you type yay.
My 8520 was working fine last night but the battery was down to 10% charge.
Charged the battery up and phone worked fine and I turned it off before going to bed.
The phone turned on fine this morning and was showing a full charge. I did turn it off when I got to work and when I went to turn it back on when I went to lunch I got nothing. The LED glows briefly and faintly when I try to power the phone on.
I tried hooking to my car charger but with the same results.
i bought a unlock code for my brother, he have a curve 8520 gemini, i unlock it like i have done before, and i turn the device off, to prove the it will work with my sim card, after i change it, i put the baterry, and it wont turn on!, what happend here! it just turn on the red light and then does nothing else
Does anyone know how to turn off the menu that seems to just pop up out of no where it is a straight line that runs across the middle of the screen? I have no idea how or what I touch to make it appear?please me plus has any one noticed alot of freezing of this curve that makes me do alot of battery pulls.
My Blackberry froze on me 2days ago so i pulled the battery out and put it bak in but now it wont switch on at all..Nothing comes up, no white screen, no red light nothing.Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or is it completly broken.
how can I turn off the keyboard from lighting up, when the device screen is on. I don't want the keyboard light to turn on when I'm using the device because it wastes battery. And my second and most important question is, why is the battery life so poor? My curve battery get's me through one day, and all I do is SMS, facebook, and IM. I don't use it 24/7 during the day either. I've had to charge it every night! Do I have to give the battery time to be "broken in"?
I'm new to Blackberry and to a Smartphone in general. How the heck do I turn on an alert tone for when I receive an email? It should be simple...but for the life of me I can't figure it out!
I have been trying to access a website that I normally visit daily and today it was telling me that about memory being full. Its only when i try to access my inbox, yet the the rest of the pages will load (including facebook).I deleted a bunch of pics off my phone and thought if i enabled memory cleaning, it would clear my cache, cookies, etc. the prompt said it would save changes when the device was turned off and rebooted. I did a battery pull and now what is happening is my issue.
after i pulled the battery, I get a red blink of hte led, then a black screen with a clock in the middle (obviously the loading symbol) and then the screen showing "blackberry" with a loading bar.Once the loading bar is done loading...nothing! It goes back to turning off the device and reloading from the start. It has been doing this for 2 hours and the device will not go to the home screen, it just keeps rebooting itself. I have done 2 or 3 battery pulls now and it keeps doing it. Would it have anything to do with the "memory clean" enablement? or is the peice of cr@p toast now? And have i lost all my contacts??
My wife has a curve 8530 with Verizon, and it wont turn on. All that is happening is the red led light is blinking over and over again. I tried a new battery and that didnt work. Anny suggestions.
This is my second blackberry curve 8530 and they both have the same problem, they won't play videos. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?
I just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
I updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?
I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?
On Monday my 8530 restarted on its own. It has now done it 3 more times. When the phone comes back on the battery is completely drained. Today I pulled the battery after it restarted and when it started up again the battery life had come back, but it restarted itself again about 2 seconds later. Is my phone on its way out? I've had it for about 20 months (Telus).
I changed my theme today and when I did, I noticed that I has a Backup Assistant Icon on my background. Is this true? Blackberries have Backup Assistant now? Please tell me I didn't download a virus.
Is the quality of the device good? My concern is that it is CDMA and GSM. Will that make any difference in network speeds? I don't travel so SIM cards don't matter to me. Is it worth getting the Curve 8530 since it is CDMA?
Im thinking of switching carriers and want to try something new... i kind of like the curve 8530 on the sprint network. i currently have the tour on vzw.... the question is should i the curve worth getting or should i just hold off for the tour2/new bold?
If the Curve 8530 is considered an upgrade and on some features it truly is, like the Track pad v.s the trackball. So why is it lacking some normal basic features such as a flash on the camera or high quality mega-pixel camera as the other upgraded phones have? I am honestly curious as this is my first blackberry but I missed why these features were not included in the newer type model.
This is a list of all the carriers known so far in the world that provide service for the 8530. Enjoy! Asia Pacific Reliance SMART Communications Inc. Smart Telecom TATA INDICOM - CDMA North America Alaska Communications Systems Appalachian Wireless Alltel Bell Mobility Inc. Bluegrass Cellular Carolina West Wireless CBeyond Cellcom US Cellular South Credo Mobile MTS Mobility NTELOS SaskTel Sprint L.P. Telus Mobility U.S. Cellular Verizon Wireless Virgin Mobile Canada Virgin Mobile US South America Bermuda Digital Communications Centennial Puerto Rico Iusacell Telecomunicaciones Movilnet C.A.
When i want to lock my Blackberry curve 8530 i just press the A key. But when i want to unlock, the message shows up to press the MUTE botton. I have a plastic case on it, so everytime I go to press the Mute buton, I have to take the case off. Now my fiance has the same exact phone, and when he wants to unlock, the message says to press the A key with the send/call key.
is the 8520 housings are compatible with the 8530? I know the answer is probably yes because there's no differences at all in the phone not like the 83XX series. Also, mine is Grey OEM by Telus. I just don't know what colour i'll customize it, any Idea? I like black and white just like my old Tour, but there's white 8520 so it would be less unique
Does anyone know when the OFFICIAL 5.0 update for tmobile comes out, i see the leaked versions online but I don't want to risk it. Right now I'm running. 4.6.1.259.
If anyone out there could lend me a helping hand with this. Well, im not a very heavy BB user but ive never had my batt go dead on me but it happened! i totally couldnt turn my phone on until i put in my charger. Then it happens randomly whereby my phone will heat up and the battery drops 5% every 10mins or so! until it shuts off!! It happened once right after i fully charged my phone and it shut off within the next hour.Anyone knows whats happening?? i suspected whether it was any of my installed apps that are draining my batt, so i shut off everything! i mean no msn no foursquare no twitter only emails are on but yet it still happens!!Help please? i hope its just the batt thats screwed not my phone.
