My buddy from Colombia gave a 8520 BB purchased by him in Colombia from Movistar where he has his account. I had it unlocked and it works fine with my Tmobile Sim card.The only thing is that it will not pick up WIFI signal to make phone calls. Do I need to change any settings or download software ?
View 4 RepliesI have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

The fact is the phone cannot be seen thus i cannot reload the soaftware. the phone is about to go across the room.

The other versions for my 8520 from other carriers do not show up on the application loader, even after completing every step. T-mobile needs to step its game up.

I occasionally use the internet at home using WiFi. And email service is only $10/month. I'm thinking of getting an 8520, but want to make sure my BB email still works fine with no data plan. I know Tmobile won't sell you one unless you get data service. Anyone own an 8520 without a data plan?

My iPhone 5 has never had a problem with picking up a Wifi signal. I just moved to a new apartment a few weeks ago and my iPhone won't recognize any Wifi signal at all. My Xbox One recognizes multiple signals and connects with ease, same with my Macbook Pro. And my iPhone has no problem picking up Wifi networks at other locations (Work, Starbucks, etc.).Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlways maintained a very strong 3g signal, 5 bars always no matter where I was. The last 3 or 4 days my signal started dropping like crazy to EDGE - edge - to gps or whatever to no signal. Did everything to try and fix it. Called T-Mobile about the problem and they said no problem we are sending you a new 9700. I will have it Wednesday afternoon. I asked if it will be a new one or refurbished, she said a new one. You can't beat that with a stick. They have the best customer service out of all the carriers. Just wanted to tell my recent experience with my carrier.

I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

At times the light flashes red but nothing happens. I have tryed charging it, taking battery in and out. Any advice would be grateful it is only about a month old.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.
I have just upgraded to the BB 8520 Curve and I cant find predictive text anywhere?Surely it must be there somewhere !
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

Issue: I recd an sms from my friend which had an exclamation mark. When i tried to reply it gave me the following message "Requested facility not implemented" & i could not reply. (i have attached the screenshot..i have darkened the area as it was a personal message) Also i asked my friend did he set any priority, he said no as he had a basic nokia handset. So how is it possible to receive an sms with red exclamation (i understand that red exclamation means high priority)
Had my BB on Orange 1 week PAYG. It took a week to bring my phone number from previous carrier,
Meanwhile I was given a temp one. The number appears when I press send but although my number has now been transferred, the temp number still appears when I press send. Don't remember whether I input the number when setting up or whether it appeared automatically when the phone read the sim card. Please is there a way of me entering the new number or do I need to wait for Orange to do something, or tell Orange?I'm sure there is a very simple answer.
I hv got blackberry 8520 phone...i hv an issue with deleting the sms from the inbox..whenever i delete the sms...al d messages under tht thread gets deleted but it does not disappear from the inbox..n wen i try to open this "deleted" msg...it doesnt open neither it gets deleted although the msg content gets deleted...

Over the last couple days my curve has not allowed me to make ourgoing calls or recieve incomming calls. The speaker "clicks" in and out seccond to seccond braking up any converstation. No matter how many bars of service I am getting. I believe it is a faulty speaker but have been getting the "run around" by both the store I bought it from -told be that my carrier will replace or fix it and then my carrier(fido) telling me that blackberry will replace or fix it.
