I have a Bold 9000 and have 2 problems- 1. I got an error message stating the the media card failed Fatal error. Today the standard blackberry ring tone stopped working (the vibration still works). I am able to receive emails, phone calls and I can make calls. My contacts remain in the phone.
after having experienced twice the problem about the Media Card error upon a reboot and after having read hundreds of posts only about how to fix the problem, I tryed to think about what are the causes of this upsetting behaviour.Giving that the SD Card should be error free proven, these are my considerations:
1) When the phone shutdowns unexpectedly (e.g. battery drain or battery pull upon a freeze) Media Card is not safely unmounted, so if there were media files open by applications, the reboot finds them corrupted. NOTE that it couldn't be the very first reboot after a battery drain; maybe the files get corrupted only afer having accessed once again;
2) If using a SD Card of a Class higher than 2 (as far as I remember, the speed of the reader on the phone), it could happen that some transaction between the phone and the card is not closed correctly because the card response is higher than the phone can manage.I'd like to end up with some ideas in order to reduce the probability of this issue, that is anyway an unquestionably bug from RIM.
My 16Gb media card failed yesterday wiping out all my tunes, videos, and images. Repair of the media card fails the internal test and now I'm without media data storage. (1) how to effect repair, or (2) where to buy a new media card?
I switched on my phone as normal yesterday and got the following message: 'Built-in Media Storage not accessible due to detected errors. Do you wish to repair it now? Yes or No.When I click yes, the message is 'Select the storage you want to repair' and the options are Built-in media or cancel. When clicking on built in media, the next message is 'Built in media repair failed'.I've lost all my photo's and music and when i connect to my pc to re-add them, the same message appears on the phone and nothing has sync'd at all.
I am new here having jsut come from a BB Curve 8900 I love the speed of the new 9700 its a million times better. Anyway, I have a 2gb card installed but under the settings and memory section it says no card found. is there a way of getting it to reconise the card as my phone says its only got 90MB of internal memorey left which wont do me as I use it as a mp3 player as well.
Ok, media card was working fine, had alot of work pictures stored on it and was becoming a hassle to hunt through all of them to find what I wanted. So, I inserted media card in computer and transfered what I wanted to a folder on the computer. Then I formatted the card using the computer. When I put the card back into the phone, the phone knows its there, but I must have wiped the card completely as none of the folders for video, pics, etc. are on it anymore. If I take a picture and go to find it, the media card does not even show up, just device memory.
Does anybody have a remedy for this? I already tried formatting the card in the phone but that didn't work. The phone is telling me in the memory options that 1.8GB is free, so I know it works, it just lost the folders or whatever........
I recently installed OS 5.0.0.442 which was posted on the very first thread of the forum. I haven't had any issues with it until recently.
When I try a soft reset, I get the red indicator light as usual, but instead of resetting, I get a message on my screen that says something along the lines of "Media card installed. All media will be copied onto the device." After this dialog box goes away, the device does NOT reset. Any ideas on why the soft reset no longer works?
I just bought a 9700 a few hours ago did the back up, blahh blahh. So then lastly I went to switch my media card and the 2gb that the bold came with isn't coming out. Its like stuck on something. I spent almost 30 minutes trying to get it out!
I have a 2G Media Card for a Bold 9650 and whenever i check memory use I always see:-
Music Voice Notes PIctures Video Documents 'Other' Free
My problem is that this 'other' category usually takes up more than half my memory and no matter what i delete it never seems to go down. how to to decrease its size with reformatting my entire media card?
My phone not recognize my media card, I have took battery out and media card, put the battery back in without the media card then put media back in and it still doesn't register that there is a media card in my phone.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have taken many pictures that are on my media card. I was on Facebook and looking at a friend's pictures. It was taking too long to download the picture, so I hit the return key to exit out of Facebook. When I went into my pictures to view the ones I had taken, there were no pictures there and I got the message "A Media Card has been inserted that is not formatted. Do you wish to format the Media Card now?"
Of course nothing happens if I hit "No".
If I select "Yes" it says "Warning: Formatting the Media Card will destroy any data stored on it. Do you wish to continue?" Of course I don't want to continue. I just want my pictures and videos back!!!!I have tried turning the phone off and taking the battery out.I have inserted a different media card and it can find the pictures on that card. I have inserted my media card into a friends similar BBerry and I get the same message about the card not being formatted.
Questions:
1) Is there ANY way to get my pictures back?I believe I downloaded most of them through the Desktop Manager, but I am not sure..
2) Any idea why this happened so I know how to avoid it happening again in the future???
I just bought a Bold 9700 from a friend with no media card. Ive tryed 2 different ones and it want show theres a card in the device ive tryed a sandisk 4g and a 8g not sure the brand on the 8g got it from a bud to try but the 4g i bought new and still no luck it just says no media card inserted.
I just recently got myself a Bold 9700.I was wondering, the 256 mb of space for Applications and Email is somewhat limited, even more so than the Bold 9000.Is it possible to store applications on the media card, which came with a 2 gb card? Or must it only be in that 256 of internal memory.
My bold 9780 sporadically doesn't recognize my media card. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't! I've tried almost everything. Battery pull, newest update, even changed the card reader.
I wanted to format my Blackberry Media Card, and restore it afterwards. I wanna make sure everything will be restored as it was including the calender, applications, contacts, notes and everything else. What should I do before formatting it to make sure everything will return as it was?
A couple of weeks ago I created a Back-Up & updated the software on my BFs BB Bold 9780, as he was getting a message saying there was no space for new photos when using the Camera, after BF had taken a photo. The photo was not stored, but there seemed to still be quite a bit of space on the Media Card.Following the update BF now gets a message each time he tries to access the Media Gallery or use the Camera, saying the the Media Card has not been formatted & providing a prompt to do so. After you format the Media Card it is possible to then take a photo. Or a couple of photos. If you try to go back to the Camera again or to access the Media Gallery the message comes back saying that the Media Card has not been formatted & provides another prompt to do so. If you follow the prompt again, you have delete all the data on the card. If you do not follow the prompt the Camera or Media Gallery does not open, you just go back to the title screen.
Last night I tried to connect BFs BB 9780 to my Laptop & after what seemed ages it hadn't connected & then when I finally disconnected the USB Cable, I received an error message on my Laptop saying the Media Card had a fatal something & could not be read...
The BB 9780 has suffered no real trauma to speak of, aside from dropped once or twice. The media card looks okay, I have removed it & put it back, still no change.
I got my BB9900 and it worked well initially, now it does not read my media card,i tranferred the media card into anotherb BB and it works perfectly,It also goes screen blank after initiating a call. This fone ids too much of an investment to FFF up so soon.
I have me a blackberry bold 9780 and woke up one morning and it just stopped reading my media card wit some unable to access media card due to a fatal error. The card works fine in everything else I put it in but no card I put in the device works... Now it dose another thing asking format the memory card when it does still can not b used....
The device is about year old, the media card was OK, it suddenly out of order. The message when I check >option >memory > A media card is not presently inserted in the device I tried the following ways:I tried to take out and insert many times, it doesn't work.I reboot by remove the battery while device is on, NOT workingI inserted the said media card to other Bold 9700, the card can be read, but when I inserted other card to my device, same messages appear,
my phone is not recognizing my media card - it used to. Now unable to download precious pictures from phone to computer. Haven't tried the repair option yet as do not want to lose any pictures.is there another way I can get them off my phone safely before I try to mend the media card?
i am user of bold 9780, like other, i also facing the reboot problem by the time i download or upgrade the sofware in my BB, everytime im reboot it come out this noted : "Media card storage cannot be accessed due to fatal errors" and of course my SD card is contain nothing becoz of this error, so many time i reboot till the word not came out.how i want to resolve this problem n im getting phobia to downloading/upgrading n rebooting my BB.
Had my bold 9780 a few months now, it came with a storage card 4gb. Up until yesterday I was saving all photos etc to it then today it said I had a message on screen saying "media card has suffered fatal error" I took the card out tried it in my work phone and it worked fine.I tried the card from my work phone in my BB and nothing at all.Cuurently my phone is saying " A media card is not presently inserted in the device" when clearly it is!
Today while I was running to make it into work and clock in on time my phone fell out my jacket pocket and now the media card isn't recognized by the phone. It's not showing up when I connect my phone to my computer either. Is there anything I can do to try and get it to be recognized again?
When I go to option > memory,I only see free space of 100MB,I have got my SDmicro card of 2GB inserted, but it shows: A media card is not presently inserted in the device. And when I receiving a 4MB music file from a friend through BB messenger, its automatically declined and shows: There is not enough space in the folder. How come? How can I overcome this problem?
Where can i find my hidden pics in my media card on my bb9700 I hate to do this, but I simply can't figure it out. Yesterday I had some of my files hidden on my phone that I could not access. The files that I want went to the media card when hidden. I've searched google and tried some suggestions, but I still can't find them. First, is there a way to get to the media card directory? People say to go to explore, but I don't have this on my device i even went on my stock theme from att it takes u too explore but it still don't show my hidden pics what gives.
Just like it says, I'm not able to delete pics off my 16 gb card. Actually its more then that. When I press the menu key for options, in the section where " delete" and other options would be, all I show is properties. I've tested another card on my phone, no problems. I've tested this card on another 9700, same problem. Its definitely the card that is messed up. I've tried reformatting (won't let me reformat in my computer, I have to hook my bb up with it inside) and I still have the problem.
The micro SD card in my 9700 keeps slipping, either after a light fall (in an otterbox, yay) or sometimes just out of the blue.Only noticeable result is that ringtones revert to the default. When I push the bugger back in, they work fine again. Will appreciate any advice other than returning the phone. I'd rather not send back the card either but will consider. Would rather just know how to make the card stick better if possible.
My friend just purchased a Bold 9700. I am going to install a 16GB micro SD card for him. The transfer rate is SO slow and I basically want to fill up the card with music and videos. To put on 10Gb seems like it's gonna take over an hour!! Maybe even two!! Ridiculous!!Would it be possible for me to load up all the music/videos onto the card at my house, then just pop the SD card into his phone with all the media pre-loaded? Or would it not work?
Also, just a side question, but if I fill up the majority of the card (let's say I leave about 1 or 2GB free), would it affect overall general speed of the phone, or is that not affected by the SD capacity?
