Last January I bought my BB 9930 Bold. At first it worked well but a few months ago it started rebooting in as a loop. I tried to fix it by removing battery and then it never came back.
View 1 RepliesI have had multiple Blackberry devices over the past 10 years and received the 9930 about 3 weeks ago. I am on my second 9930 now (yes-within the 3 weeks) and the same thing keeps happening. The device turns off and recycles constantly. I pull the battery, wait 3-5 minutes, allow it to re-boot, and make sure there is a charge. Once I pulled the battery and left it out overnight. The device was completely uncharged after I re-installed the battery so I charged it for 24 hours. Nothing has changed and the original issue is still occurring. I have watched Verizon take these out of the box and set them up so I do not believe them to be refurbished.

But it's not that code that I have setted up (and my code is unacceptable). P.S. Dealer accepted the Warranty Claim, but they said that it's non-repairable (but I think - they even didn't try). I need all the info from device. How to get the security code?

I was downloading an update to an app from the BB App World, and then it started to install (also had a notification that it was installing), then two seconds later, the screen went black. Later, the LED flashed red and started to boot. Then, it kept on doing this in a loop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recieved iPhone 4s for Christmas and it worked fine for about a month then it started rebooting randomly. I tried factory restores, DFU and anything else (no it was not wet) and nothing worked. I took the phone to Apple in early March and they replaced the phone and instructed me to not restore from back on my computer so I did not - I still have not. It contines to reboot so I thought maybe it's a bad sim card so I got a new one. I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and still no change.

I did a security wipe three days ago and the phone is stuck in this loop. The phone has been in this state for 2 days solid plugged in to the charger. What can I do to get this phone to reboot properly? Is there another reset besides removing the battery?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Bold 9900 and brought it to the UK from South Africa with my South African sim card (MTN) the device is on roaming, but reception is so bad that the device is almost un usable.I have it connected to the home WI-FI here in the UK and this allows me to use my BIS. For 3 weeks while I have been here, I have been able to use BBM etc while in range of the WI-FI. Today I inserted a friends spare "3" or "Network-3" sim card to allow me to make calls easier and cheaper while I'm here, took the sim card out, put my old one back in and that's when the problem started.No BIS anymore when connected to the WI-FI on my originally "BIS" working MTN sim card.Now I have looked around the web and the only thing I have come across is something vague referring the PIN pairing itself with the network/carrier.

(3gs on 3.1.2, new baseband, with 3.1.3 backed up on cydia...and im running windows XP)
here is what happend:
--tried to set file permissions for the calender app bc it was not letting me add new apointments after SSHing the file from another phone
--used ifile to 1st: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (i went one step further) as far as i could go before an edit, then clicked the blue arrow and while the permissions was root, i noticed that it set to read and write only. so i changed this to RWE.
--went back to calendar tried to add a new apt -- no go, didnt work
--back to ifile 2nd: private/var/mobile/Library/Calendar (one step less than the first time) clicked the blue arrow and saw that permissions was mobile. so i changed that to root.
--closed ifile opened SBsettings, and clicked respring. i thought maybe this would cause the changes to take effect. i hit respring three times before it respnded... then it resprung to the sad iphone
--from the sad iphone it has been caught in the respring loop. it goes from the sad iphone to my normal lock screen (i dont run any lockscreen apps).
here is what i have done so far:
--i replaced the Calendar.sqlitedb file with the old (presumably good) file from the old phone via SSH. this seemed to help a little in that now i was able to slide the slider but still, nothing, just back to the loop.
--i attempted to restore from backup in itunes. after about 10 minutes, nothing was happening; the phone continued to loop and itunes seemed to make no progress. so i disconnected the wire.
--i held down the home and sleep buttons until the phone powered down. holding down just the sleep/power button only caused the screen to dim, but the loop continued.
--once the power was off, i turned it back on and ran blackra1n from recovery mode. phone returned to loop.
--powered down again, same method and once in recovery mode, connected to itunes. itunes said it had to restore before it could do anything. i disconnected...
--ran blackra1n again, and once more while back in the loop, and still nothing. but now when i slide, i am seeing the error message about mobile substrate, however, it does not fully appear in that the phone starts to respring before anything can happen. i have been sliding the slider and each time the screen stops at a different level, meaning that i can see the icon animation but the respring stops it at various points. while writing this, i got a text message. it displayed, and then disappeared on the next respring.
Should i do a full hard reset, should i delete stuff via SSH, DFU, i dont know, but it seems like the phone is still intact enough not to need a full restore (which would = re-jailed...).
I've seen some fixes for this error on other OS versions, but none specifically for 7.0 on the Blackberry Bold 9930. I was trying to download My Verizon Mobile and got this error.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI routinely back up my 9930 on my Mac, but tonight I kept receiving the error message,"BlackBerry desktop software failed to backup your BlackBerry device. The device was disconnected. Reconnect your device and try again." So I did . . . three times. Same message each time. I downloaded the BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac again, even though it said I had the latest version already installed. I tried the backup once more; same error message. Has the software changed versions or updated? What should I do to correct this?

I already contacted my carrier and their solutions don't work (like what the call the 'provisionning' etc) When I put my sim card in a friend's BackBerry it works very well (BBM, the browser.) but it doesn't with mine!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the Blackberry Bold 9930 with Verizon - love the phone, but the emails often don't go through the first time and I have to hit resend once, twice or three times. This doesn't happen every time, but at least 3 or 4 times a day. Is this a known problem with Blackberry or do I have to contact Verizon? Nothing has changed since I bought this new phone, such as where I use it, the carrier, etc. I have pulled the battery numerous times to see if that solved the problem, but it continues to happen regularly.

How can I go about switching the Blackberry service from my old phone to my new 9930?
I am able to make calls with the 9930 but have been unable to activate the Enterprise service on it. I have tried using the desktop software to switch devices but that seems to have only transfered the data from my old phone to the new one.
I bought my BBB 9930 several months ago, today my phone did not start. I tried everything, taking battery out for about an hour, direct connect to PC etc..Every 20 seconds the blackberry logo and bottom bar will slightly light up (faded low low light) and disappear right away then 2 seconds later the red light will turn on and off and then the same thing will happen again 20 seconds later into a loop.

The original carrier of the phone is Sprint. The phone is unlocked and I have the MSL code and I inserted it and the phone rebooted and nothing changed.What I see on the main screen of the phone is "SOS" in the top right-hand corner and sometimes "searching for GSM" comes up and then it goes back to SOS and if I try to dial a number it starts to say "the call could not be connected, try again".When I go into the "Mobile Network" option it says

i have a problem with my 9930 not connecting to BIS. i'm in nigeria and my phone runs on the MTN Nigeria network. I have noticed this is now a common problem with 9930s running on thesame network in nigeria. the phone is a 9930 verizon running OS 7 on the MTN N network. i have used this same phone in glasgow the last time and it had no problems but on returning to nigeria the BIS stopped working. i dont have any other problems with this phone as much as i know.

I have a some apps (facebook, twitter, poynt, BB news, BofA, evernote, wikitude, scoremobile, google maps, BBmaps, IMO, Bridge, SayIt and maybe a couple of other small ones) but before this last upgrade to OS 7.1 I was always around 200MB left, which still isnt great but its better than what I have now after the upgrade which is 140MB. Does anyone else have this problem? Its great that they increased the internal storage to 8GB but that does no good when you cant use it for apps, and besides I have a 32GB SD card in it so I dont need that 8GB for media storage. Is there anyway to increase the amount of storage without deleting the apps i have? I have these apps because I use them. I had the same apps on my 9650 and actually had more room 250MB or so.

Left the phone on the charger throughout the night, woke up, went to check my messages, and the phone was no longer turning on. I dont know what happened during the night.Went to Verizon: the guy gave me some bs about how the phone has had water damage (as evident by corrosion on the charger insert location). I have since been told that there is in fact no water damage (the item that is supposed to turn red when there is water damage is still white) and that the corrosion is merely the fact that I use the charger.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn a number of occasions where my battery was nearly flat as I put it on the charger before I went to bed I woke up in the morning to find that the device wouldn't turn on. A battery pull sorted it every time. Last night I put my Blackberry on charge and woke up this morning to find that not even the battery pull would work. When I hooked it up to my laptop, the desktop software recognised that it couldn't communicate with Blackberry and offered to update the software (which in fact I did a couple of weeks ago). I read a KB article that said one should do this without the battery installed. Alas during the software update where it gets to the point 'reconnecting to jvm', I have to re-insert the battery as the 'no battery' icon appears on the screen. We then get stuck in the original cycle whereby the device gets stuck in a cycle of light on, light off... and of course a failed software update too.

Sometimes it restarts and then back to normal but mostly it stucks in a restart loop (Red LED turns on as indication that phone is powering On.
