Recently upgraded to a 9700.No complaint about the standard battery, but I have had multiple occurances of the battery dying in the middle of a call.Is there any option or app that can give me a better warning that the phone is about to die while on a call? It would give me a chance to plug in a charger during the call or to warn my other party that I am on borrowed time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I both got the 9700 this past weekend. Mine works great but unfortunately, his voicemail notification does not work. We've tried adding visual voicemail, removing visual voicemail, adding it again, removing it again, resetting to network with Customer Care. My husband doesn't even care about VVM. He just needs regular voicemail notification. And yes, the voicemail works properly and the notification has worked perfectly fine through the years on his 8900, his old 8320, his old Pearl, etc.
Yesterday I called Customer Care and the CSR rep said all we had to do was go to the home screen --> hit menu --> scroll and click on messages --> hit menu --> scroll and click on voicemail setup --> scroll to notifications --> choose ON, then save or done. Sounds simple enough. Unfortunately, when I followed his steps and went to the home screen and hit menu, there is no "messages" in the menu. If I go to the messages icon, I can get to message alerts for all messages but there is no voicemail setup.
Whenever I change the sound profile, my custom alert tones for eBay and UberTwitter apps change to silent and to different sounds than those I chose.
I already tried a RIM support solution that calls for clearing a corrupted profiles database. It helped for a few days. Now the issue is back, and today it even made all my LED alerts turn to off.
A friend of mine is having the same issue. We both use the Bold with TMO's stock OS.
I have a notification that I can not figure out. It indicates I have one followed by an orange globe. Please tell me what this is.

View 14 Replies View RelatedSo the 'Normal' profile of my 9700 (Phone) is set up to play ALWAYS simply because it is on my desk in the office, it is not in the holster, and I want to hear when it rings.
I also have a ring tone that I downloaded (not the default).I noticed that when the phone is in the holster and it rings, as soon as I take it out from the holster the ring tonne changes from the one I set up to the default AT&T ring tone.
This is only the second time this has happened since I got the phone a few weeks back.I have all of my messages set to different specific ringtones. My SMS to one, my MMS to one, my email to one etc. So tonight I rcvd an email and instead of playing the tone it always plays that it is set for (one of the generic preloaded notifier tones)... it played my SMS tone (which is an actual song tone) to alert me to my email.
And NO I didnt recieve a new SMS at the same time. That folder is empty and the only red star alert was on my email envelope. Like I said this is very, very few and far between but why would this happen??I went over every one of my sound/alert settings and they are all the way they should be set for my liking.
Any good sites for me to buy a new one?
View 9 Replies View Relatedhifolks looking for some info bold 9700 battery wont even last a day. it just started this all of a sudden. got new battery had has made no difference got rid of all the games that i dont use and cleaned out the whole phone still only lasts a day before it runs out were before it would last a good 3-4 days.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering. As it turns out that the 9700 and 9000 share the same type of battery, so how is it that the bold has a far superior battery life over the 9000? Some have reported that the 9700 can hold charge upto 2 days even after heavy usage. So i was wondering are the batteries really identical in every way as claimed? and if they arent is it possible to swap the battery of my 9000 and expect a longer battery life? coz the one im having right now only seem to hold charge for about 15hours with fair usage on a 5.0 OS Zain Kuwait.

My battery drains MUCH faster now, with UberTwitter being the only app I have open. Are there any tips|tricks or anything in the settings I can tweak to reduce the drain, or is this just the price of the speed boost?

The question I have is should I still pull it once in a while (i.e. once a month or so) even though I don't have any problems? Can I go months or years without pulling it if I have no problems?
Is pulling like rebooting your computer and it should be done once in a while whether needed or not?Are there those who pull it regularily just ot keep these BB in shape so to speak?
My bold 9700 battery runs out in 12 hours or so. The signal in the area (Orange Switzerland) is weak and there is no difference if the phone is on 2G or on 2G & 3G mode. Used phone in roaming without data and battery was good for week or even more with not many phone calls. Is this normal and any advice on how to preserve the battery? I also have problems with Facebook installation. When I try to sign in, I am getting a message that data conenction is not available and that i should try later. I tried many many times and while everything else works well, Facebook does not. Downloaded it twice directly from Balckberry and reinstalled it but without luck.

It always comes up with the same problem. The LED will turn red when I charge it, then the empty battery with an X through it will be displayed.
I've tried connecting it to Desktop Manager, and it gets recognized just fine, just won't charge at all.
There are a lot of topics surround battery draining factors. So I want to make a list of draining rates, for comparison purposes.And maybe tips and tricks will develop for improving duration.So here is mine:
OS 5.0.0.321
NOT using at all: 4% for 8-10 hours: <0,5% per hour
VIDEO watching: 13% for 1 hour: 13% per hour (which I think is a lot....am I doing something wrong or is this normal?)
haven't really test other usage yet.Please give exact usages, like video, webbrowsing, not using, etc. And not in terms of heavy use or light use etc, because that is very subjective
I have noticed my battery losing strength even when it is shut down. Last night I was right at 50% battery strength before shutting it down and going to bed. When turning it on this morning it was at 20%. I understand about things running in the background but even while it is shut down?

I unplugged today at 8:42 and had 3G on, sent around 50 or so texts, played about 10 minutes of Nintaii and browsed the web a little, did 2 battery pulls, and listened to Pandora for about 10 minutes.I'm at 80% now, is that normal? And how long does it take for the battery to be fully cycled and set in?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo you know normally you will get a message when your battery is low that says "Battery too low for radio use" and the radio comes off. Well twice that stopped happening. Battery was low but instead of getting the message, my phone just cuts off like if the battery is dead. Any explanation as to why this is happening? It happened two out of two times.
