BB Bold 9700 :: Contact List Gone
May 2, 2010I own a BB bold 9700 and last night I exchanged phones with a friend, the sim and memory card was removed and then reinserted back in, when i turn on the phone, I realised that all my contacts were gone. I don't know what happened? Those that has to do with a different sim card inserted into the phone? Is it some kinda BB security lockdown software? I'm using the Celcom-Vodafone (Malaysia) package. Please help, I really need to get this working.

Mar 11, 2010How do i edit my contact list? when i got the phone, i put in the sim card it asked me if i wanted to import contacts and i said yes now i have duplicates.... (example: there would be a "John Smith", and then another one that says "Smith; John") i've been playing around with the bb key and options and everything.

Jul 25, 2010This morning i got a message that my BB messenger should be updated.After the update and installation it gave a few errors (forget to make screenshots) but since then my contact list is gone.
Lateron when i logged in again it asked me to look for my ' old '' contacts. I waited a few minutes and nothing happened so i decided to reboot my BB. After that my contact list was still empty and now i dont have my friends pins saved somewhere.Anybody got an idea of how to get the old list back?

Nov 20, 2010I've just upgraded my phone from the 9700 to the 9780, and I can't seem to get my text messages to show both the inbound and outbound messages together in a list, in date order, like you could on the 9700.Do you know if this is possible, or do you have to keep switching between inbound and outbound through the separate folders?

Aug 23, 2010For the first time today I could pause on a contact name and it would automatically show the number for that person under the name. I scrolled thru my contacts later and it doesn't do it anymore. I liked that option and would like to "turn it on" if possible. I've had my bold for about 3 mons and it has never done it b4 or again. Just once just today. I'm running os .714 on TMO if that matters or is important.

Jun 23, 2010Checked for updates last night and woke up this morning with a notification that an OTA update is available for T-Mo. I went ahead and let the phone update this morning and it took about an hour. so i just went to send a text message just now and i type the person's name in that i want to send it to and notice there are duplicate entries in my phone book! What gives?! Can someone help me out here as to getting back single contact entries? NOTE: NOT ALL CONTACTS WERE DUPLICATED. NOTE: I was currently operating on the .586 OS now i'm at the most current version .7something

Jan 17, 2010So I sent a text to somebody and then I checked back at the message center and it has this little icon that resembles a cell phone. I was a little puzzled yet intrigued.I tried to google it and nothing came up. Also when I checked bbm on that person that I sent the text to, the icon appeared again. Its just a verticle rectangle with a white box in the top of portion of the man rectangle. Again the icon looks like a cellphone.

Jun 14, 2010When go into my contacts list and the first thing is the "New Contact:" space. Right under that it says "*No Contacts*" And then there are like 5 empty spaces, and only then are the contacts. When I try to save a new contact, it occupies all the empty spaces, and I would have 5 straight contacts with the same name! help!!

Sep 2, 2010I just got the 9700. Great phone, but I'm having a problem with my contacts. I came from an Android HTC, so my contacts were synched up online in my google account. However, my email account has always been yahoo. So for the blackberry, I set up yahoo email, and all the contacts came through to the contact app (and I couldn't find any way to undo that). Then, solely for the purpose of getting my contacts onto the blackberry, I set up gmail. The contacts came through successfully.
The problem is that both sets are now displayed in the contacts, but I only want those from google. The yahoo contacts are only email contacts, so I only want them to come through in the email app.
In contacts, I went to menu - select contact list - google. This solved the problem, but only until I exited the app. As soon as I entered next time, both lists were reselected (show all contact lists).

Jan 15, 2010I have just purchased a Bold 9700, and everything is working fine except syncing the contacts from Outlook.
I am also syncing the Calender, which works fine, but when I sync the contacts also, I get the following error message ox80040Fb3
I have the latest software verson of the Blackberry User Tools, and I have tried un-installing and re-installing again, but the same error comes up.
If I only sync the contacts from the phone to Outlook then this works, but I cannot sync both ways or from Outlook to the phone. My last phone was a Blackberry Pearl, which I had no problems syncing with Outlook. The Blackberry User Tools Version for the Pearl was Version 4.3, which I re-installed and tried that, but I still got the same error.
I'm thinking it must be a problem with the software on the phone, as the problem didn't happen with my other Blackberry, and it's happening with both versions of software.
I am using Vista Home Premium, with Office XP. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sep 14, 2011Whenever I hit the green phone button or go to the "Call Log" application my contact list comes up. I can no longer access my call log. If I miss a call I can select view and see my missed calls list but after that I cannot get back to the call log. I have not done anything out or the ordinary beyond phone calls and a few text messages. This is a 9700 Bold and I believe the OS is V5.

Aug 13, 2012I used the RESTORE option from my back up, the software restored everything except my Contact list. I also tried to restore specific items.... the option to restore contacts does not allow me to tick it for restoration. I have a Bold 9700, abt 2.5 yrs old. Some contacts were tripled, and doubled, some numbers were moved to different contacts, or deleted.

Jan 4, 2010I have a BB Bold 9700 and during the holidays, I went to my parents' place, where there was no cell coverage... But the weird thing is that my Contacts disappeared as soon as I lost connectivity.... I figured they would reappear when I had coverage again, but not!
So I did a restore from my latest backup in BB Desktop Manager (latest version) and it still didn't work... I don't know what to do anymore...
The rest is still there, calendar, saved messages, pics, etc...)

Aug 24, 2010Just a couple of days ago, I received a BBM from my daughter, although my cell was turned off for the night. I thought maybe I'd not turned it off. Last night again, I turned it off (I always do every night) and was woken early because not only was my turned off phone receiving messages, it had also enabled my Drive Safely app and the phone was busy reading everything to me.I checked and the phone was off. I still had to push the red phone key to turn it on.I immediately did a battery pull and will hope for the best.Has anyone had this experience?
