IPhone 4s :: GPS Has Stopped Working Automatically
Aug 23, 2014
Earlier this week I found that the GPS on my iPhone was not working. I have been using this frequently with various Apps and it has always worked flawlessly, in all of them. Â
I can get it to work but this means either doing a 'Reset Network Settings' or a hard reset, or restarting. Then it works, but only for a limited time, if the phone is turned off for a few minutes it has lost GPS again. I have tested both in and out of the case, ( Otterbox Armor ) so this is not causing any issues. Â
The other difference is that it's not connecting automatically every time to my WiFi, sometimes I have to enter the password, and some times not. Â
I have checked all the suggestions on the internet but I still have this issue, which is defeating me! Also my wife has an identical iPhone and the GPS on this works without and problem.
so over the weekend, while I was away from home, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. It happened suddenly, and the only preceding events I can think of were that (1) we had heavy rain but I kept the phone in my pocket and neither my pocket nor the phone were wet when I took it out after the rain had passed (2) I downloaded the F1 timing app which initially had some crashing issues. I'm not sure if either of these contributed but it's possible. While the home button wouldn't work at all when pressed, I found that the voice control was starting automatically (and calling my contacts without me knowing). This would suggest a long press of the home button I think however I couldn't replicate it with the button. To avoid calling more contacts from my pocket I turned the phone off but it turned itself straight back on and always went straight to voice control after starting up. I finally got around this by leaving the phone on flight mode while not in use. I also found the accessibility setting to have an on-screen home button which made the phone slightly usable but not ideal.
When I charged the phone that evening it came up with the recovery screen requesting that I plug into iTunes. As I was away and without my laptop I was not able to do this but got through the weekend by cancelling lots of voice control pop ups and a lot of flight mode use. Now I'm home I have connected to iTunes and a restore was required. I followed this right through, the restore completes and when it reconnects to iTunes it says it needs to restore again. At this stage I can unplug it, turn it off and on again and use it.If it's turned on while unplugged it will start ok and then can be connected to iTunes and synced but the voice control will still start automatically after turning on and the home button does not work at all.If it's turned on while plugged in it will be in recovery mode and request a restore again.
my iphone 5 has stopped checking my mail automatically. I now have to tap the mail icon on the desktop to check mail. This just happened. I have not changed any setting on the phone.
It has been working fine, but has stopped automatically sending or receiving emails. I have taken out the sim card and hard rebooted, I have resent the service books, but it still isn't working.
i put down my iphone 4 on the table working in the night, but when i get up, its totally dead!i have only had it 2 months, i thought maybe the battery was too flat, but it wont even charge... its never been dropped or spilt anything on it. so i'm baffled by this... i have to send it for repair by tmobile, but that takes 2 week minimum...
I recently purchased a used iPhone 5 for cheap. I replaced the battery and it worked right away. It took several hours for the phone to charge completely and after I unplugged it, it drained very fast. The phone was still tied to the previous owner's account, so I wondered if it was draining fast because it was searching for something via my wi-fi. I charged it again before I went to bed, but unplugged it so I could charge my iPad overnight. When I woke up the next morning, it was under 20%. I went to work and got a hold of the previous owner to get her to remove the phone from her iCloud account. I called my girlfriend and asked her to plug in the phone so that it was on when she removed it. When I got home from work, the phone wasn't working. The screen didn't light up and there was no sign that it worked at all. I left it plugged in for the next 24 hours and it still didn't work. Holding the home and sleep/wake buttons do nothing. My used iPhone is a metal and glass brick. Found out from the previous owner that these were the exact symptoms she had before it stopped working and the battery needed to be replaced.
3G has stopped working on my launch day iPhone 4. Edge works sometimes. The sim card works fine in my 3GS. Anyone heard of this problem before? Done a full restore with no joy(and another problem, iTunes wiped my iPhone 4 back up when I just choose to call my restore iPhone 'iPhone' to test it out - is my back up lost forever? I'm assuming if I take it back to the Apple store at the weekend, if they have stock, they'll have to give me a brand new replacement? It's just over a week old, so I'd want one in a sealed box!
my i-phone 3GS suddenly stopped working no display few minutes back i had spoked to one of my friend from the same phone and after 10-15 mins its completely stopped my charge was 47% before it stopped
I had to replace my iphone 4 last week and tried to restore previous phone's info. I went through the itunes steps now my phone will not work. The only thing the screen shows iare the icons of connecting to itunes. how I can get my phone back to functioning again?
I recently restored my iPhone 4 from the iTunes backup. Since this time, my emails have stopped working even though the underlying account still operate ( btinternet.com) and my iPad still operates ok.
The speakers on my 4s suddenly stopped working. The phone no longer rings, speaker-phone won't work, it won't play music, etc. The headphones still work, but not the sound on the phone itself.
It used to work fine, but now it tells me that either the user name or the password for my email account is incorrect. I have checked this in Settings, and re-entered my password (and indeed all possible passwords), but it's still telling me it Cannot Get Mail. Do I need to delete this account and reinstall it?
On my 1 month old Iphone 4s the sound has stopped working twice now. The first time was for about 3 days and then came back on & this time it has been for about a week. I can hear phone calls but the speaker produces no sound. It has been in an otterbox since the day I got it and water damage is not an issue.

i have an iphone 4s unlocked purchased in US and using in india. All of a sudden my iphone speaker stopped working. Ring cannot be heard, music cannot be heard nor any sounds. I have restarted the phone several times. Now i have to check restoring the software once, which i have not done. Apart,Can i replace the phone here in India as i still have warranty.
I was updating my iphone's software this morning, I believe there's a new system or something - my phone told me to update, while I did so my phone stopped working, the only image I can see right now is a picture telling me to connect to ITunes. ITunes isn't picking up my iphone either and its stating the software server could not be contacted.
Iphone 4; mysteriously, my camera setting will no longer take a flash picture, even though the setting is correctly set to take a flash, camera will not respond.
So my iPhone randomly went blank and won't work at all. I've tried charging it and it doesn't charge nor does my iTunes recognize it. I've heard that I need to press and hold the lock and home button at the same time but the thing is my lock button broke about a month ago for no reason either. My phone is past the one year warrenty. Am I seriously going to have to pay the big bucks to get my phone replaced? This is rediculous as I've taken amazing care of my phone, always used screen covers, good case etc. Not only that, I am expecting a few big calls this week that I can't miss.
All my applications stopped working when I left Vodaphone . They unlocked my phone and I started using Giff gaff. Since then my applications that I bought and down loaded don't work. The basic applications that came with the phone still works and the phone works
I have had the phone for a few months and sounds just stopped working. I can still send and receive calls and hear ringtones but all other audio is gone including video, music, text alerts, etc.
My iPhone has stopped working over wifi. It was working till late night yesterday and in monring it stopped. I thought that it may be problem in my internet. But noticed that it doesn't work with office wifi as well. Have done some of the reset option.
I have been unable to get an update on the stock app. Last update was on 5/31/2012. It tries to refresh, but the spinning wheel icon is very erratic and won't refresh.
I have tried to update the software on both iTunes and the OS on the phone - both are current. I have tried tosync the phone several times - no luck. This appears to be the only app that does not work. The same holds true for my wife's phone.
