I wanted to do a night shot and went in manual mode and "SCN". But the "SCN" button was greyed out. After some fiddling around i found out that SCN is only available in manual mode if camera resolution is set to 8MP..
I have a question regarding the HTC One camera scene "Landscape". Obviously it is made for taking pictures of landscapes, but what is the advantage of choosing it? For example, i choose portrait scene when taking portraits to smoothen the skin in the picture. But how does the picture change when i choose Landscape?
I have had my Lumia 900 for almost 3 days, and I am extremely impressed with the build quality and design. Definitely an upgrade from my Focus. However, there are a few things that are still buggy.
1. The camera doesn't correctly choose the right scene, so the veiwfinder is very blue when using the camera, but it looks perfect once the picture has been taken.
2. Pressing the hardware camera button while the phone is locked doesn't always launch the camera like it should. Especially trying to do so immediately after the phone is locked.
3. The battery dies extremely fast once the battery saver mode turns on.
4. The critical battery notification occurs at roughly 15% when as my Focus did it at around 5%, which was much more helpful.
5. When the battery died on my Lumia, it didn't leave enough battery to shut the device down, it got to 0% and then the phone froze for about a minute then when black, no goodbye screen. Then, when I tried to charge it, it was plugged up for about 5 minutes before the battery meter appeared saying the battery was too low to start the phone. During that five minutes, the hardware buttons were glowing, and holding the power button had no effect.
I bought the Cliq 2 just yesterday after having my contract extended by two years. I am new to Android platform having switched from Blackberry. I was playing around with phone features and noticed that the scene mode in camera which was working yesterday is no longer accessible after the software update.
In the menú Sound and notifications -> ringtone for the call of phone, i have select "forever" to search with file commander a ringtone, and now i can't see the list of the ringtones installed in the phone. How can undo the "forever" selection?
I just got my SGSII today and so far I'm impressed at how much power it's got compared to my original SGS. So far the only disappointment for me is that samsung didn't include the "Add Me" effect in Scene Mode. I've had so much fun with this effect and I actually use it more compared to any other scene mode. I would like to ask if there's an app that can do the same thing? I tried using panorama to create a "twin" but it simply doesn't work.
I love my new Z5 compact but it seems to me that Sony changed some stuff regarding text selection (I guess due to the text lense they added). Beside that I don't really need a lense (who does?) it changes the behaviour and leads to some really annoying limitations when working with documents in some apps.
Example: Evernote (because I guess many users use it)
Try to select more then one line text :-) Works on several other old and new Android devices... not on my Z5 compact sadly.
Ever since the latest updates, when using the Contacts App and the Xperia International Keyboard, the soft keyboard does not close itself when the user makes a selection inside the app.
HOW TO REPRODUCE: Open Contacts AppClick on search icon (magnifiying glass)Soft keyboard opens -> start typing contact nameClick on contact name in the filtered list
EXPECTED RESULTS: Upon clicking on the contact name in the filtered list, the soft keyboard should automatically close and the contact's info page should open.
I'M SEEING INSTEAD: Upon clicking the contact name in the filtered list, the contact's info page is opening, but the soft keyboard is also staying open covering up the contact's info page.
WORKAROUND: The only workaround I can see for now is to hit the soft "back" button (which appears as a "down" button when the keyboard is open) to close the soft keyboard before actually selecting the contact from the list. Then select the contact from the list.
If you select the contact before hitting the "back" (or "down") button, and try hitting the "back" (or "down") button with the contact page already opened, instead of closing the keyboard it will close the contacts page and the keyboard will stay open (unless you close the keyboard first, you'll be stuck in an infinite loop of selecting and closing the contact, and the keyboard would be open the whole time).
I have made a screen recording to showcase this bug in action: [URL] ....
A friend is having troubles with his Z3 : He used to take pictures with the quick camera launch button, but since a recent camera or system update, when he use this button, the camera is set to automatic mode instead of manual, with poor resolution and quality settings. If he launches the camera with the standard button from the phone menu, everything is fine and perfectly set up.
When the camera is used from the quick button and set back to the correct quality settings and manual mode, after closing it, it goes back to auto mode with bad settings. Same thing when he slides the camera icon from the locked screen. The only way to get the proper settings when launching the camera is to use the icon from the phone's menu.
He tried a lot of things, from uninstalling the camera updates to searching everywhere on the internet, there is no information or messages about this problem.
My phone frequently returns a message "Error! Camera not Available!" when opening any application which uses a camera. This happens specially when the applicatons that scan barcodes are used ("AT&T Code Scanner", "OK Scan"), but not exclusively. Among the apps bringing the camera to a crash there are some of good reputation, like for example "Perfectly Clear". In the emergency mode the camera works OK.
The issue is the same as in this thread for Z1, however it disappoints me that the same happens in Z3 which is so much newer.
The support advised me to clear the data for the camera (Applications menu) and restart the phone. No dice, so they advised to reset the phone to factory defaults. I did it twice, due to after the first time I found exactly which apps caused the problem. It took me a day to restore everything to the original state .
Afterwards, the camera was stuck by "Perfectly Clear", a decent app written by a "Best programmer". I was depressed.
However, there is a solution: simply clearing all the apps running in the background (["three permanent keys in the bottom" | "two rectangles" | clear all], or [an icon with a green brush]). This works without a restart.
I've just purchased a 7230 on the Vodafone network here in Ireland. The Right Selection key is set to go to Vodafone Live - which I don't want but I can't seem to change the option. I have done the usual menu>settings>my shortcuts but only the left selection key, navigation key and home screen key come up as options to change. Is this a model issue or a network provider software issue?
I did the Blackberry 9300 update and now all the fun ringtones and alert options are gone. I'd say only 20% of the original choices are there now. Not impressed that these have all been removed. Is there anyway that I can put all the original sounds back on?
I would like to know how we can transfer a group of several sms's at the same time as a mail (a kind of chat history with sending/receiving with the same contact person). In BBM you can forward the chat as a mail but I have not found the same option in sms messages.
My phone works fine with my home WiFi, but as soon as I am out of range, the phone automatically connects with the BTFON/BTOpenzone network (which shows up as an 'Open network', although you have to subscribe to actually connect to it). This doesn't really bother me much, except that when I get back into range of my home network, the phone remains 'connected' to the BT open networks and I have to reconnect manually to my home network. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the phone always to ignore BT? Or at least to make my home network the preferred one when I'm in range?
I'm one of those weirdos who likes to see things in person before I buy them. Has anyone else noticed the in-store selection for 9650 is dismal? I've tried Verizon stores, Best Buy (nothing...), and even Spring stores. Anyone have any luck at a brick and mortor store or must I do the online thing?
I have a new Bold 9900, and have tried for two days to figure out and follow the manual to see if i can set and choose prefered networks, but the screens that the manual say are there do not exist?
My bb is bb style 9670, I lost my browser connection after clean uo the service book. And all emails are lost. I've tried ur suggest to press menu key in host routing table. The problem is, I can not find the key (2nd button from the bottom in the menu). It doesn't work for me.
I've only just bought the Nokia 1520 and its my first smart phone experience.... When I call one of those service lines where you have to press numbers from a Menu - like '1' for enquiries, '2' for help desk etc - I pull up the screen keypad in the call window and tap the number but it doesn't seem to register.
Attempting to update the software on my BlackBerry Torch 9810 I receive the following message: "The device does not have enough space for your selection. Select fewer applications." I don't understand.
I ticked a "remember this choice" for texting to one of my contacts that has more than one mobile number, so it became the default. I didnt realise that the choice also applied to phone calls. No problem I thought, just unmark it as default. But that doesnt seem to be an option, i.e. having set a default, the only choice seems to be to change it to another number not actually cancel altogether. The only way round it i could find is to add a new dummy number, mark that as the default then delete the number. Am I missing the obvious?
when i set my curve 9300 to manual network selection, and i select my networ, if i go in a palce underground or something and i lose the signal, the phone doesn' t pick up the signal automatically when i am back in a coverage area. instead, i find an alert window that says "can't find home network and asks me to chose whether i waast to: set it to automatic, go into settings, or cancel" and i have to either go in settings and select it again or jsut set it to automatic and it will find it. in other smart phones it usually gives that alert, but as soon as i am back in a coverage area, it picks up the home network on its own without having to go to settings. so is this the normal behavior?
